  1. I know u specifically said shimano but I use a daiwa tatula type r in 8.1.1 with 50 pound braid.
  2. Try Trilene 100% or Seaguar Invizx. Both of these have served me well and they are not stiff. I have backlash problems with my Revo as well so it barely leaves the house. I have come to the conclusion that myself and Revos are just not a match made in heaven. I will give braid a try and if that doesn't work I will be retiring it.
  3. All you needs is a chatterbait and some weightkess senkos. Fish them as slow as possible.
  4. There it is right there.
  5. I have a tiger combo but I just use it when fishing for cats. It's going to be pretty hard to break that rod. It's similar to an ugly stik so there probably isn't a lure that's too heavy for it so just be reasonable.
  6. I have a bunch of chatterbaits. I have two freedoms and I fished one of them on one outing and have never thought about touching them again. I was using craw type trailers which I thought was making it rise in the water column but I guess not. I mainly stick to the project z but the originals and elite work well too.
  7. I have Gamakatsu, VMC, Mustad, and Daiichi in my arsenal. But the majority of my hooks are Gamakatsu. No complaints with any of them.
  8. I tried fishing wacky rigged senkos with a 1/0 finesse wide gap hook with a weed guard and I missed so many fish. I figured the hook was too small. I switched to a 3/0 with no weed guard and I have been on fire.
  9. I do a twitch and retrieve cadence with my stickbaits probably 90% of the time and it works fine for me. But I adjust when I need to.
  10. I take 2-4 set ups but mostly 3, all casting. One for weightless plastics, the second for jigs/weighted t-tigs, and the third moving baits. I hate using crankbaits from the banks so I barely bring them. I feel like those 3 set ups cover a lot from the bank but it can be a pain moving all of that stuff.
  11. Your are fighting the fish way too long. You def need to go up in line size if you are using a Carolina rig and you need to have braid as your main line. What type of knots are you using? That could be the problem too because flouro is not knot friendly
  12. My preference for reels are Daiwa and Lew's. My preference for rods is St Croix. Even though I have my brand preferences I own rods and reels from other manufacturers. My biggest thing when buying rods and reels is getting the best bang for my buck. I am a bargain shopper so my brand preference goes out with a quickness if I find a sweet deal. Always keep an open mind.
  13. I own 2 Type Rs and my next reel purchase will be the SV. I throw a lot of weightless flukes and sticks baits so it would replace my Lew's Mach II reel. I will wait it out to see if I can find a deal later in the year because I'm cheap.
  14. I use a casting set up for wacky rigged senkos and i can cast them pretty far with ease. The rod is use is St Croix BXC68MXF.
  15. I hope to be in that tax bracket one day. Must be nice!
  16. I use a Daiwa CT Type R that has 6.3.1 gear ratio. I personally prefer reels with mid range IPT for moving baits.
  17. I noticed a lot of fishing Youtuber's are complaining about not getting paid anymore off of ad revenue. I did some reading and it looks like channels have to meet a certain criteria to be monetized. Why are fishing channels deemed controversial?
  18. I have a Lew's Mach II mh/f 7' rod. I use it for T-rigged plastics and ocassionally jigs. I like it a lot. But mine came as a combo with the Mach II casting reel. The only way to get a Mach II speed stick is by buying the Mach II combo. You are referring to the Mach speed stick which is different because of its IM6 graphite while the Mach II speed stick is has IM8. I wanted to buy more Mach II speed sticks but they only offer the Mach speed sticks in IM6 so I strayed away from them. I heard bad things about IM6 which has prevented me from buying any IM6 rods in any brand. But I will be honest, I never fished an IM6 rod and I just took what was told with me and ran with it.
  19. The lowest I will go on leaders is 12#. I have used leaders between 12#-25#. Mostly flouro but for top waters I will use mono.
  20. When I started using braid on my casting set ups I went with 30# braid and it would have its occasional "dig ins" while fishing. This year I switched to 40# braid and I have not had any problems with it diggin in. I recommend going no lower than 40# on casting set ups. I made use for my 30# braid for top shot backings and my catfish sets ups.
  21. I seen a guy get caught earlier this month. DNR took his rod and gave him a ticket. He didn't have any fish on him.
  22. Knowledge over everything. Are there actually tourneys where everyone has to use the same bait?
  23. Try wacky rigging those stick baits weightless. I recommend using 2 o-rings because they will make the bait last longer but that's optional. Let it sink to the bottom and then twitch it on the retrieve. Play with the retrieve in different ways to entice bites. Try paralleling your cast to the bank and any vertical structure if there is any. Bass should be up in shallow around this time of year. Once u find them u will will tear them up every time. Go finesss and let me know how that works out for you.
  24. I don't know where you are located but you want to have different presentations on hand if you have you have multiple rods. I primarily fish from the bank and a wacky rigged stick bait seems to get bites when things get tough. What type lure are you fan casting? A lot of bass spawning in my area so fan casting while fish are up shallow on beds wouldn't yield any results. Give us some more details and we will be able to give insight. As far as colors, that debate can go on forever.
