  1. I wish they would make the 5:1 for lefties. I really don’t want to spend the extra money for a JDM reel but I might have to.
  2. PayPal offers a lot of protection for buyers on eBay so no need to worry. I buy new reels off eBay and have not had any problems. Get refurbished reels from the manufacturer or a trusted reel mechanic.
  3. Power Pro and 832 are good choices. My experience with Spider Wire wasn’t the best. 832 would be a better choice for spinning reels.
  4. FC Sniper is probably too stiff. Flouro and spinning reels can be tricky sometimes. I just stick to braid.
  5. EThe TP1 is a better rod by far. With that being said it’s a $100 and I feel there are better options out there in and around that price range like a Dobyns Fury or St Croix Bass X.
  6. I have a few Snag Proof Ish’s Phat Frogs and I can’t walk them consistently. Live target frogs are easy for me to walk.
  7. When deep cranking everyone says it’s important that have a lot line capacity because a long cast is necessary to get the crankbait to its deepest depth. What is a good cut off as far as line capacity? Would 150 yards of 12# line be enough or is more capacity needed?
  8. I was dropshotting last weekend in 30 feet of water. I started out with a 1/4 ounce weight and it took forever to get to the bottom. I moved up to a 3/8 ounce weight and that worked much better. With that being said 1/10 ounce weight will take way too long to get to the bottom in deep water, especially in a tourney where time is money.
  9. I would recommend composite. Those glass rods can get heavy.
  10. I have the Gantarel Jr in Ghost Bluegill. The reason I chose it is because I heard the other color’s paint jobs don’t hold up as well.
  11. Casting, spinning, and deep sea
  12. My first 3 tourneys this year I lost a jackhammer. It’s just part of the game. Try to keep your rod tip up in super shallow water.
  13. I got the Mach II combo which has the same exact rod except it’s green and doesn’t have a microwave guide. My whole set up is holding strong and going on 2 years nows. I fish tournaments with it. The rod has no complaints from me.
  14. I have the Mach II reel which is the precursor to the Orange Crush. According to Lew’s website the Orange Crush only comes with 20# drag. I still use my Mach II reel so there is no doubt in my mind that the Orange Crush is a great reel too but at the price point of $159 there are way better options from other brands that will get you aluminum frame and all around better reel.
  15. I dropshot 90% of the time in shallow water and sometimes as low as 2 feet of water. It’s a very versatile presentation.
  16. “I’m going fishing, I’ll be back”
  17. I have yet to have power pro bleed and I have on most of my reels. I have heard that their red braid has this issue.
  18. I suggest getting the Daiwa Fuego, great breaking system and aluminum frame for $99 at most.
  19. I have zero issues with the knot. Try to cut the tag ends as close as possible.
  20. I’m not sure if there is a Tatula 100HD. The Tatula HD is a 200 size reel. The only Tatula casting reels that I know of that were released in the US are the Tatula Type R, Tatula 100, Tatula HD, Tatula CT, Tatula CT Type R, Tatula SV, and Tatula 150. I could be missing some.
  21. I sent Dobyns an email a few months ago asking if their glass rods were full fiberglass or composite and Richard confirmed with me that their glass rods are composite.
