Before you install a new rope, treat it with bow string wax. That will lessen the friction on it as it passes over the pin. Get the same rope as the mfg uses.

Check the LEI Extras site. The HDS units transducer is not listed as being compatable with the X51. It is for the X52

If you are using the line long enough for it to absord water, yes it will shock you. The many fibers in a braided line leaves some space for water to be absorbed, yep water will conduct electricity.

Remove the unit from the mount. Carefully spread the power cord pins apart slightly so you can't even tell you did it. Re-install the display and see if it is corrected. Report your results.

The solution to the"digging in" for those nylon mono users trying any fluorocarbon line with a baitcaster is to adjust your reel spool tension knob to offset the heavier weight of the line. The digging in is an equipment use error, not the fault of the line. A properly adjusted reel will cast farther with fluorocarbon line than it will with nylon mono and not have any "digging in" problem.

WRB, the Va. lake was originally stocked with Florida strain bass and Northern strain bass. It is in the southern part of the state where another lake was stocked with Floridas several years before with excellent results.

Micro, name some "low stretch" fluorocarbon and co-poly lines and what that "low stretch" is compared to that determines that it is low stretch.

The red lable 3X Strike King worms, and the Renegade (sold at Walmart) straight worms in the kit with 4 colors. I have tested about a dozen of the so called floating worms and those are the only two I found that really float.

Addicted, the higher thread count braids are smoother and softer textured. The Samurai braid is a smaller diameter per pound test than other superlines. Example: most 30# superlines have a mono equivelent diameter of 8# test, the Samurai is 6# mono equivelent diameter.

OK, my observation is the fish is most attracted by the fall no matter how that fall occurs as long as it's slow. I use added weight only to overcome line surface tension, wind, current, and line floatation (I use braid). As far a what natual fall really is in relation to a real worm, they move around a lot when put in water, so if you want to imitate natural, that is what natural does. Un-natural would be a even/level/rapid fall as would happen with the subject hook. I choose a "natural fall" for my presentation, the fish like it.

Nitro, it's a little one for those special Va. lakes. It sure is nice not having to deal with 2-stroke oil. I can fill my gas tank anywhere, anytime and just go.

Paul, sometimes I have more than a dozen rod/reels laying around with different presentions and several versions of the same presentation. That way I can be the most efficient at a particular location in determining a pattern. I guess I have seen around a hundred 25" or more bass. Some were mine and some caught by others. There are no pure Florida bass in Va. that I know of but the lake where I caught the pictured bass was stocked with a cross of Florida and Northern strains. There are a couple more. From what I have heard, Florida strain bass can't handle waters that get iced over in the Winter. It is not ususual at that lake for bass to be 27" or longer. I've landed a couple of those and have pictures of some of them sent to me from successful anglers that I have helped with tactics/patterns. PM sent with additional comments

Sippi, I have that unit as a spare for the Lowrance X51 Pro that was factory rigged on my Tracker. It is the exactly the same with a different name. I only use it for depth and some detail while underway, I have two other units for serious fishing use.

Paul, it was a pretty good one: 9 pounds and 6 ounces, 25 1/2" in length. I noticed that the line attached to the hook did not show in the photo, it was a 20# fluorocarbon leader. I caught one that was 3 ounces less and 1/2" shorter a week earlier about 300 yards from that one, the water depth was 6' but the fish was suspended in the limbs about 1/2 way in a standing pine tree. Same water temp, tactics, and presentation. I didn't do a mouth shot of that one since I didn't have my camera with me. A fellow angler took a picture of it with my cell phone.
