Favorite superline is Stren Superbraid, Second favorite is Daiwa Samurai. I use several others. Favorite fluorocarbon is XPS, don't use any others.

Humminbird has a bracket that is made to install your transom transducer on a trolling motor: http://store.humminbird.com/products/271631/AD_XTM_9 Several guys I know just drilled a hole in the skeg and bolted the transducer on without using any of the mounting hardware. I prefer the transducer that is made for that application, it is a lot sturdier for that use. Humminbird has an exchange policy for an unused/unopened supplied transducer. Also Transducer Shield and Saver has a very strong adaptor for the transom transducer for trolliing motor mounting-expensive though. If your boat is made of a solid substance with no air pockets (foam type material) for floatation, then the transducer can be epoxied inside the hull with a slow cure epoxy.

Got another red teeth (actually pink) fish yesterday. The fish was caught in 8' depths with the water temp of 87 on the surface and at 8'. This was the only one of 45 bass that had it though and put up the most resistance to being caught.

Madd Lunacy, yes my unit is the 798ci SI and that image was done the first opportunity I had to get on the water after the DI was available. Whatever the default settings are is what I had except for the 2D color and adding "white line" to the 2D setting. My transducer is the Compact SI and not the HDSI. I'll help you out Cart7t on this subject, the electric steer models are OK for trolling or open water manuvering. They are not suitable for precise boat control for bass fishing around surface cover especially docks and during windy conditions. I get the opportunity to fish with many persons around the country and I've spent many days operating those clumbsy motors on other persons boats and no way would I buy one for bass fishing. I agree with you on the footprint of that type motor for that particular boat though. Actually a better application for that boat would be a bow mount hand contolled motor with the pontoon mount (Motor Guide FW V55 HP or FW V75HP)

Page 81 of the manual describes how to tell the unit to read the Navionics software. If you don't have the manual, you can download one from the Lowrance website. The 3200 is Globalmap model number If you ment the LMS 320, then the instructions are on page 155 of that manual.

The reason I purchased the SI technology in December was for the upcoming release of Down Imaging. While fishing the DI is a lot more useful than SI. It shows me what the 2D sonar is displaying.

It's the same as original gray (smoke) Fireline and has heat fused filaments basically making it a monofilament. It is a superline but not a braided superline. It has less stretch than a braided line and it is stiffer than most braids. It has some spool memory when new. It frays after some use and is an indication that you need to retie.

I rig them with a Falcon Weighted Swimbait hook 5/0. I use a crochet needle to thread the line thru the bait head into the slit and then tie on the hook. Then I pull the hook eye into the head and Txpose the point. I use 17#-20# fluorocarbon line and fish it from the surface down to 20' with a jerk-pause-jerk retrieve.

If you have a Mercury, you should carry a spare trim relay/s and a nut driver or socket set to fit the bolt that attaches it to the engine. I swapped trim relays a couple of weeks ago for a boater while on the water and all he had was an open end wrench that barely fit that bolt head. It was very difficult to do since the relays are not easily accessed. I had to use the wrench parallel to the bolt and turn it with pliers. I would also suggest that you loosen tha bolts and retighten them finger tight. They are way too long for the task and won't vibrate out of the threads if you do.

I catch the most and largest baas in the summer during the mid-day hours just like any other time of year. Just the depth is somewhat different than cooler periods. About the only seasonal presentation change I do relates to speed.

The problem with a loop-type knot is not the knot, it is wear on the line at the lure eye.

I don't use Senkos or their knock-offs much. When I do want to rig one wacky style, I use the 3/8" heat shrink tubing and do not heat it (tight enough for me). I then use a 4/0 or 5/0 Octopus hook with an added weedguard that I install. I always use the hook perpendicular to the bait instead of parallel. I do not want the size of the bait to interfere with the hooking ability since even wih the 5/0, a bent double Senko is a lot thicker than the hook bend-that is why I do not use the "O"ring or even the heat shrink tubing in the same manner.

Thanks for the answers. It was kind of a loaded question since I have several GPS units. The reason I asked, is a Lowrance owner in Texas was questioning the application of a 50 channel receiver with a Humminbird unit. His HDS's best EPE is in the teens of feet and my Humminbird regularly gets 4'-5' EPE. I have seen a Humminbird screen shot with 2' EPE. I was on the same lake with him (Fork) a couple of weeks ago and got 5' EPE while he was getting 17' EPE. My hand held Lowrance (H2O) only gets about 28' on a lake. A friend of mine got 9' with his hand held Delorrne when I was getting in the 60' range at best when we were in the mountains of West Va. the past few days.

Marty, 50# test braids are the same diameter as 10# mono. There is no performance loss with using that diameter superline. Actually it will work better than the 10# mono on spinning gear (no memory and very castable).
