  1. Harsh, huh? Is there some other terminology that applies? Poaching is not only the illegal taking of game and fish, it's the attempt to take them in an illegal manner. Using an illegal motor in the pursuit of fish is just that. It has nothing to do with how fast one can go or how unsafe it may be. sage, I've read some posts from those in Pa. that expound on their sticker changes, the one I can recall was the president of a bass club. That is really something to be proud of. I remember his statement about the raising of the HP limits and how he was going to get a bigger motor than the new HP limit and do the sticker changer on that one too. Yes, lots of persons drive over the speed limit, but that does not make it legal. Thanks for setting such a fine example for the youngsters that visit this site and those you are personally involved with.
  2. Yes, you are correct Dougherty. A missing one would really do the trick, then it might be considered stolen and altered. Those that use the sticker changes and whatever else to try and get by with using larger engines on limited HP waters are poachers.
  3. CMC makes a heavier duty model also. PT 130
  4. sage, are the water patrol officers in your area too ignorant to know the difference? The limited HP lakes that I fish have game wardens that know to check the data plate on the motor when doing their safety/license checks. If they notice that someone is moving about faster than they should be with the proper size motor, they will make the effort to check it.
  5. If you have slipping problems with heavier weights, just use two of them.
  6. I rig them backwards when fishing in weeds. The slender end comes through the weeds better than the blunt end.
  7. I have a 12' jon boat. For electric only lakes, I use a 56# thrust bow mount and a 55# thrust transom mount. For HP limited lakes, I remove the transom mount electric and put on a 9.9HP gas engine.
  8. The Fluke and Sluggo are both soft jerkbaits, fish them the same way.
  9. Jigging spoons is the only application that I use them.

I have the Cabela's 8X24 Water Proof Long Eye Relief model. I wear eyeglasses too.
  11. If you look closely at the boat transom, you will see that the motor has a jet pump and the boat hull has the tunnel conversion. Very common for river fishing.
  12. I didn't see the attempt, but I did find the evidence. The last time I fished Hunting Run Lake, I saw a 2 1/2" diameter bobber just under the water's surface, and when I pulled it up, there was about 4' of line attached to the bobber. On the end of the line was a large salt water size brass snap swivel; attached to the swivel was a 1/2 oz tandem spinnerbait.
  13. Another thing you might want to add to your arsenal: stronger hooks. Gamakatsu has some called Super Line hooks, they can stand the pressure you may exert better than regular wire hooks.
  14. The best advice anyone can give you when first using braids is to not use a violent hook-set like you do with monos. Just a quick wrist movement instead of arm movement is all it takes. All of your rod movement is transferred to hook movement and too much movement, too violently will tear the hook out and or damage you or your equipment. A lighter action rod or looser drag will help.
  15. Check out this article---- http://www.quickoneplus.com/fish/articles/page.asp?page=barometric Here is another---- http://home.comcast.net/~rkrz/infoarch/fyibarometer.htm
  16. The Abu Black Max and Silver Max are carried by Walmart.
  17. I use the 5/0 Skip Gap hooks and rig them straight. I have no problem with them spinning. Placing the hook in the bait on the center line and rigging them straight should solve your problem.
  18. The inside cable is a very hard metal so just crimping the stud on with hand tools will not secure it long. I suggest that you use a file and make some shallow groves in the cable in a couple of places to give the stud a surface it can grip.
  19. The scheme is also being used via e-mail with references to several different banks including Bank of America. It's called phishing. Don't bite and get caught. The last time I got one, I fowarded it to the FBI.

What do I do for a living? Already did it, now living retired.
  21. I use both in both locations. On the console, I get instant depth readings at speed with the flasher, and I can get a bottom contour recording with the graph. On the bow, I can stay on a breakline with out moving around a lot with the flasher, and I can fish at the level of suspended fish better with the graph.
  22. LBH, have you seen the color line-up that Spike-It has? Getting close to the rainbow. I limit my multi-color selection to two groups-colors that I can see for sight/bed fishing and all others. In actuality, none work any better than any other.
