How to get young people fishing?
all kids strive to get some kind of attention, use this . take kids that like basketball, maybe involve there coach, then use the fishing event to teach the kids something new, then kids then also realize more than one person taking interest in them. make it fun and memorable. use your knowledge of the fish , water ,wildlife, etc.. to make it informative and interesting.i guess in this fast paced era that we live in we have to think outside the box. plant the seed somewhere one wouldn't expect, or maybe would ,just haven't thought it. schools ,groups, teams, fire , police, rescue, court systems, ect... kids deffinatly gravitate towards attention, apply fishing to that attention. I know that my grandkids love the time we have together. and now even ask "when are we going fishing"

Your Fishing Story
wow! this can go anywhere. I have seen a lot of great advice already written here. like others I started as a young boy, when my dad would always take mw and my brother. I remember it being so much fun and exciting. I guess this is the first thing that is a must , you have to feel passion for it.you mentioned wanting a family some day , fishing is one of the best family time together events one could ever do.. the key word family is important. tho I never fished competitively , I still am thankful for the fun, personal, self satisfying, sport I was taught, and look back on the wonderful time my dad gave me when we had very little. all in a nut shell, search for happiness in every thing , and be thankful for what ever it is. good luck in your dreams , stay positive, be willing to always learn.

nick thilveros big bass
he is the son of Peter t , or Pete thilveros Jacksonville fla. Pete was a flw champion for years and also fished bass master elite. Pete is a brother in law to our family. I did not post all the pics and words of nicks post because it came from his personal Facebook page. but what I thought was really cool was that he was very thankful to his sponsors in his post and talked about the benefits of using quality equipment. it's nice to see young people take this sport serious and that are willing to share knowlage.

For those who smoke meat
you have gotten a lot of great advice here, play with different woods, as you will find completely different flavors from sweet to sharp. wrap up things after it takes all the smoke it will. you will retain a lot more moistness. good luck with it they are a lot of fun don't forget to write down all recipiets that you play with, it sucks when you find something that you like and can't remember how much of each item you used.
