best crappie lure
I catch 'em all the time on 1/16 oz jigheads with a small plastic tube on them. The best color combos that have worked for me are a pink jighead with pink/white tube, and a chartreuse jighead with a chartreuse/white tube.

Worst bass miss
I was fishing a private lake in Land O' Lakes, FL with a black t-rigged Trickworm right in between the mouth of a creek and a clump of lily pads (great spot). I cast my worm out and started to retrieve it a little when my little cousin started talking to me. I turned around to respond to her and when I turned back to the water my line was moving really fast into the pads. I knew I had a fish so I set the hook hard and it was a good set but the fish wrapped me up in the pads and pulled free of the hook. I don't know how big it was, probably at least 5 or 6 lbs, but maybe bigger who knows. Ever since that happened I finish my retrieves BEFORE talking to someone.

soft plastics
Zoom softplastics are number one in my book, especially the Trickworm. It's simple, cheap, and effective.

Stealing your name?
I think he should just register with his middle name.

Your one best technique
My best technique is swimming a t-rigged soft plastic worm. Out of all the bass I've caught in my life so far, I would have to say about 95% of them came on this presentation.

Check Out This QB
Hey guys, just thought I'd share these two videos of the USF Bulls' red shirt freshman quarterback Matt Grothe. This guy is amazing. Check it out: 1st One: 2nd One:

Your favorite brand for each lure type you use?
Softplastics: Zoom Crankbaits: Bomber, Bandit Lipless Crankbaits: Bill Lewis Spinnerbaits: Terminator, Red River Buzzbaits: Booyah Topwaters: Rebel, Heddon, Arbogast Jigs: I only have two so I don't have a favorite brand yet; the ones I have are a Mann's Stone Jig and another one that I can't remember what brand Hard Jerkbaits: Never use 'em, but I have some kind of a Rapala

What Size Hook Should I Get?
I'm thinking of buying some of these for fishing some wacky-rigged worms for bass: http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.TextId?hvarTextId=58035&hvarTarget=search&cmCat=VIEWCART What size should I get? I'm thinking 2/0.

What do you consider a large Crappie
A big crappie to me is 2lbs. Unfortunately I haven't caught one that big yet. :'(

I'm Going To The PapaJohns.Com Bowl!
Yeah, the second half was kinda boring until the end. It's too bad our quarterback Matt Grothe couldn't play the second half; he suffered a broken fibula.

A lil advice.

Snakehead Fish problem in Maryland.
I would much rather catch a bass than a snakehead. I don't see a future business in guide fishing for snakeheads. Who would want to catch one? They are ugly and pesky, just like the stupid bowfin that always eat my bass lures.

I'm Going To The PapaJohns.Com Bowl!
FINAL SCORE: USF 24 ECU 7 GO BULLS!!!

I'm Going To The PapaJohns.Com Bowl!
Hey guys, I'm a huge USF fan and am going to the Papajohns.com Bowl Sat. to see the Bulls beat ECU! I'm really excited. It's USF's 2nd bowl game and they've only had a football team for about 11 years. Just thought I'd share. I probably won't be able to be here on Bass Resource til Sunday but I'm sure fishing will still be on my mind... and the bait monkey.

Jitterbugs- Do they rely work?
This is why I don't do night fishing with jitterbugs in a canoe. Last time I did, I got a strike so vicious I flipped my canoe. Being in the water on a summer night in Florida when gators are on the hunt is VERY nerve-racking. But I have to admit the strike scared me worse than being in the water since it literally only took me about ten seconds to get back in the canoe.

Lucky Craft
I agree, Tackle Warehouse is a great place to shop to purchase LC baits.

go to bait
A black t-rigged Zoom Trickworm. Gets 'em every time.

Matt Lures!!!
I bought one of Matt's Baby Bass and love it! The action and realistic details put into the bait is amazing! I haven't caught any bass on it yet but am confident that I will.

Conflict! Doesn't it keep us guessing?!
Try fishing with one of your buddies. Let him use a large bait, and you use a small bait, or vice versa. See who gets bit first. Or, you could just experiment until you figure out what the bass want. I would probably start with a larger lure like a jig or something, but that's just me.

How many of you would buy a rod sight unseen?
I never used to buy my fishing rods without seeing/holding them first, but now I know a lot about different rod types and what kind to get for the techniques I'll be using it for. Now, I always buy my rods online, as long as it's a brand I'm familiar with or know is very reputable. Like my 6' 6'' Shimano Compre MH/Fast rod I recently bought. I had never used/purchased a shimano rod before, but I use their reels exclusively and am very pleased with them, so I knew they would make decent rods. I haven't had any problems buying rods unseen now that I know what to look for.

Changing Treble Hooks
Do you guys have any suggestions to make changing treble hooks easier? I swear, it took me 30 MINUTES, just to get the d#mn split ring open so I could slide the treble hook on. I accomplished it by eventually taking a thumb tack and pushing it into the split ring to open it. What do you guys do?
