  1. Love fishing at night, but I'm just about finished for the year. That cool night air is hard on my old bones.
  2. There be Hawgs in that jungle, Paw!
  3. Wear it always, Joe, and if fishing at night, attach a water activated strobe.
  4. The Excalibur Shad-R BB put a lot of bass in the boat for me years back. I remember when they were discontinued I went to BPS and picked up a bag full for $1 a piece. I should put one back in my crank box.
  5. Wacky rigged crawfish.
  6. "I'm in the dog house now, I'm in the dog house now..."
  7. I don't think I've ever had a problem with paddle tail baits stored in Plano boxes. I have had a few older soft swimbaits that would lose their original shape/performance after long storage and I placed them in warm water and they retook their original form. That may work for paddle tails should they suffer ill effects from storage.
  8. Good for you my man! I thought it strange when I saw your post as I am planning a road trip the end of April. I've already made a folder with maps and I am so stoked for the trip. Mine is a little different as I'm going to load the kayak into the truck and drive straight to Virginia and start my trip there. From there I am going to follow the migration my 3rd Great Grandfather made after the Revolutionary War. It will take me to North and South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, and then crossing the Ohio River into Illinois where I was born and raised. I'm not putting any time restraints for the trip and I think the only other thing left to do is to purchase non-resident permits come January. This is something my late father always wanted to do, but never did. I think these "bucket lists" are important when you get our age, so do this Sir. If you see this truck out on the highway during your journey, toot your horn.
  9. Hankamania! Big Hank fan here!
  10. I've observed that most of the folks that say that are usually carrying them in their boat.
  11. New tread, needs polish, original owner.
  12. Mail Call Haven't tried the Power Bomb yet, but the Super V-Flat goes through wood like a hot knife through butter.
  13. I miss doing this with the kids, mine are all grown now. Make every minute count! (I like the Army chair.)
  14. Bienvenue, et merci pour votre service militaire!
  15. I'm partial to the Rage Craw.
  16. The hairy legs are a dead giveaway, it's a largemouth.
  17. One of many books handed down from my late father. It's a good read.
  18. Maybe they've grown wise to the more popular cranks being thrown today. You could try switching it up with some "old school" cranks like shad raps, risto raps, or fat raps. You may change your luck throwing cranks that many find a hard time dropping the coin on like Megabass's S Crank or the Z Crank models. Are you throwing straight rattle cranks, silent, or both. Don't give up on your cranks, you'll figure out the code.
  19. Great video with this article. https://www.bassresource.com/fish/crankbaits.html
  20. CBE or CSE Format? Just kidding, I'm just now reading this article. Good read.
  21. I like that, would you mind if I use it? Nocturnal heavy lifting with the Spro King Daddy Frog.
  22. Good day to stay home, play with lures and take naps.
  23. My wife always said I was a hardhead and had to experience discomfort before I learned a valuable lesson. The first time I went for a swim from the yak without a dry bag I had a very long and cold drive back to the hotel room. That dry bag stayed inside that front hatch after that!
  24. Well said A-Jay. Practicing getting back into your boat after falling in, like Tom mentioned, is even more important for a kayaker. Next year will be my 10th year fishing from a kayak, so I'm far from being an expert. However, kayak reentry was the very first skill I practiced after buying my first kayak and if you haven't practiced this skill, you're behind the power curve. I have also had a couple of unplanned swimming trips while in a kayak, so I know what it's like to be cold and wet. I also qualify for the senior citizen discount and as a rule I don't like cold water, bones just can't handle it like they use to. That being said, I AM NOT going to miss out on early fall, or more importantly, pre-spawn fishing action from the kayak. The kayaking industry has spent many hours and dollars in developing cold/wet gear for the kayaker, YoTone, so do your homework and seek out those with experience in this area. I consider NRS and Kokatat to be the industry standard when it comes to kayak clothing/gear, so you may want to start there. If there is a kayak specific retailer close by, give them a visit and see if they carry this clothing so you can get a "hands on" of what they offer. More importantly, be safe.
