When I was up at my sisters I had my kids out on her dock fishing. My Daughter hooked in to a little bass(10 inches or so) that broke her line off. The next day while I was out fishing a reeled in the same fish and the hook and line was still there. I removed the hook on it and took mine out and off it swam.

Fishing over the summer at my sisters I went to reel in a line I had out at night bluegill fishing. When I looked down in the water a 7-8 lb turtle shot off to deeper water. The next thing I know my line gets alot heavier. When I finished reeling in the same turtle had swam right into my line and got himself hung on the hook. ;D

It is a supply and demand thing. We as fisherman have demanded better equipment so the companies have made it but in return the cost has gone up. Fishing is big business and has been for a long time it just took the people on the outside to notice it more. With all the channels on tv now you can see just about anything and fishing's increase in popularity is a result of this. Everything has increased in price ofver the last 30 years but being out of fishing you didn't notice the slow increase. Enjoy it because with the increase in the business it means more is done to increase the benifits the fish and all the outdoors gets from our extra spending. More money means more research which means more info and better equipment.

Great looking fish. I would guess inbetween 4.5-5 lbs. I am not very good at it myself so I might be wrong.

I worked evening at the time and had just got up to send my wife and oldest son off to school. I was laying on the couch when they cut in to show the first one. I called my Dad and he and I were talking when the second one slammed in. I was barely awake till I seen that. I shot straight up and hung up on Dad to call and check on my wife.

Last week on my way to work my wife calls me and says she saw an ad for Direct Tv and the NFL package and says she thinks we need to get it. ::)Well I am not on to argue so I just say sure and this Thursday they will be here to hook it up. I guess I shouldn't be suprised this is the same lady that for my birthday went to Gander Mountain and told them that she didn't know what to get but that she knew I needed a new rod. So for my birthday she got me a new G Loomis rod and Shimano spinning reel to match. Man I am real lucky.

I would go with a buzzbait, soft jerkbait in a shad color, and senko in green pumpkin. I like to start with the buzzbait when they are going after shad in the shallows and both the jerkbait and the senko make great follow up baits.
