  1. Usually it is the first cold day of the year. It will last usually till the water temp drops down to the 50's. Just watch for the shad moving into the shallows and you will be able to go from there.
  2. Usually once the first cold snap hits fish start gorging themselves for the winter. It is a great time to find a big flat with alot of bait fish in it and you will find the Bass. They will bust through the balls trying to store up for when it gets cold.
  3. My best fishing partner is my daughter. The boys enjoy it but she is the only one that will set and watch the rod the entire time. I try to take them when I can but when you have three and all are in sports it is hard to find time to do anything.
  4. Good luck and can't wait to see some video on those big Cali Hawgs.

    Welcome to the site.
  6. Welcome to the site.
  7. Ike's book is good I have actually read it 2 times. I would also recomend Catching Bass Like a Pro by Steve Price and Guy Eaker. I am reading it for the second time now and it gives a lot of good insight to how to catch fish and also on becoming a pro.
  8. Congrats on the first win.
  9. Sounds good just let me know when.
  10. Hey Earl, Good to see so many people that's pretty close. Maybe we can all get together and do some fishin' I've been wanting to drag my boat to Talorsville or maybe go up to Yatesville(Triton21's old stompin' grounds) to see how it's going there. See you all on the water and thanks again. If you decide to come up to Yatesville let me know I am only about 30 mins from there so Ispend alot of time down there. Don't have much of a boat right now but I would be happy to fish with you.

    Welcome to the site.
  12. Welcome ot the site. I have 3 kids and if the fish don't bite they get bored real quick. My daughter who is 4 just caught her first fish a couple of weeks ago and she loves it now.
  13. Welcome from another Eastern Ky boy. Live in Ashland and grew up fishing Cave Run. My folks had a house boat on it for most of my younger days and can't wait to get back out there and give it another go.
  14. I've been to the Rock and loved it. I'm going to be at Kentucky around the same time that you are talking about. It would be hard to pass either direction up I would go to the place I have spent less time at if it was me.
  15. It is always good to know that the bright ones are out there practicing law.
  16. Got to love the classics. ;D ;D
  17. Nice looking fish. Sorry about the ones that were lost and better luck next time.
  18. Welcome aboard. Try texas rigging a soft plastic and pegging the sinker then put the bait right up against the toolies and let it sink to the bottom. Let it set for a count of ten then slowly start working it in. You can either reel it in real slow or hop it back to you. Good luck and have fun.
  19. Welcome from another Ky boy.
  20. Congrats on the new PB. I have forgot my camera a few times this year and always annoys me when I do that.
  21. congrats on some great looking fish. Have fun pulling in those hard fighting smallies.
  22. In situations like this I try to use more natural color lures like green pumpkin for bottom baits and shad and blugill colors for baits on up in the water column. I like to use a jerk bait or a spinnerbait when the wind is blowing and making a chop on the water. Try to using a straight tail worm along the bottom real slow and see if this helps.
  23. Congrats on a great fish.
  24. Welcome aboard. That is one of the hardest things at time to catch that worm bite.
