  1. Where can I get this braided fluorocarbon?
  2. I have a St. Croix Triumph 4 piece that I am really happy with. They sell it in a few lengths/actions.
  3. If they could restock they would. Its tough to get new product shipped when you dont have the cash flow and you dont look like a good candidate for credit (Columbia is suing the owners for $600k for product that was not paid for)
  4. Maybe try some KVD spray?
  5. Try a CA glue remover available from a hobby shop. WD-40 works too but may stain the shirt.
  6. That's because, to my knowledge, none cost $375. However the Steez rods are supposed to be FINE . rods.. There are a few out there that run $350+! If you want to test for sensitivity, tell a friend to stand out in font of two rods. Hold a rod in each hand and put the tips on his throat. Then have him hum. You should be able to tell a difference between each rod. I dont know if this data is of any practical use though. Im shopping for dropshot rods at the moment and cant decide if Im going overboard in buying GLX's instead of Crucials....I could buy a lot of tackle for the difference in price!
  7. Wow, very nice. What did you use for bait?
  8. Flambeau AZ8
  9. Depends on the lake/season but probably a Senko or a Roboworm.
  10. I dont care where my reels are made so long as they work. After hopping from brand to brand I have become a diehard Shimano guy. I dont think there is anything wrong with the new Quantums, I just love my Shimano stuff.
  11. Live carp, crappie, or bluegill, preferably around a foot long.
  12. It can be poop brown with pink polka dots for all I care. Its fishing, not a fashion show. If it feels good and works properly thats all that matters.
  13. Eh, I dont agree but to each their own. I started to get good with my casting equipment when I bought a Curado after owning a Fuego and a Sol. I think it depends on a few different factors. I would definitely buy the best reel you can afford, because its cheaper to buy the expensive stuff now than to buy cheap now and expensive later.
  14. I didnt have any luck with the Yozuri Hybrid but I am liking P-Line fluoro...Still prefer braid over everything else but for my finesse rigs I spool up the fluoro.
  15. Nope, talking about the P-Line fluorocarbon.
  16. I really like the fluoro - low memory and sen-si-tive. I lost two fish before going to the palomar knot and havent had a problem since.
  17. Good questions.I have no idea how it works, but it does. I use the KVD stuff on all my lines.
  18. Chances are good they already have someone in the marketing department (if its a larger tackle company) that they pay to attend such shows. Plus, if they dont feel the need to market to young anglers, you're of no use to them. Try calling a specific company you are interested in and ask them what they are trying to achieve in their marketing endeavors. That way you can tailor your marketing program about them, instead of them tailoring their marketing program about you.
  19. The regular Hybrid sucks...Gave that stuff a try today in 8lb test, should have just bought Eagle Claw 20LB because thats how well it handled. More memory than my computer too. Gotta give the Ultra Soft a try though.
  20. Im thinking of writing an e-book on marketing for anglers...Basically a guide to finding, getting, and keeping sponsors. I want to make it affordable for everyone, so in your opinion, whats a fair price for such a book? And of course, I will be paying for advertisement on Bass Resource! 8-)
  21. I think a lot of the 18 and under crowd sees sponsorship as "the cool thing". Free stuff and a status sysmbol. What they dont see is the hard work it takes to attract and maintain business partners. I compare sponsorship to having a credit card. Yes you get some things up front, like money, product, etc.. But you have to pay for it somehow, spending about 20% of your yearly budget on promoting your partners, traveling to to promotional events, etc. and if you dont pay back the debt in a timely fashion, bad things happen like losing your partners. My advice to the younger crowd if you're serious about fishing for a living is to fish for the purest of reasons - because you love it. Go to school, get a degree in marketing. Save up some money, stay out of debt, enter some mid-sized tournies and learn.
  22. For $500 a company can stick their logo and a message in a trade magazine and know that every viewer is in their target market. You arent selling advertisement. You are selling a marketing program. Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever (am I clear?) discuss money in a proposal. Never mention anything about you needing money. They already know you need the money, otherwise you wouldnt have contacted them. If they want to give away money, they can dontate to a charity for extra PR and a nice tax write-off. Refrain from using words like sponsorship, financial backing, support, contribute, etc. any words that make you sound like you cant do this without their money. Of course we all know you really cant go it alone, but dont show weakness. Call the company you are trying to work with, and push their buttons. Ask for the marketing manager (research the company, know that persons name). Then say something like "Hi this is Bob Jones, how would you like to drive sales and increase brand awareness? I have a grassroots marketing program that I'd like to tell you about. It is fully measureable, and turn-key. If you get a positive response, you then should ask "Do you keep your marketing options open?" If you get a yes here, then ask "Specifically, what are you trying to achieve in your marketing efforts?" This puts the ball in their court, and allows you to gain more information on how to pitch your idea. Remember, you are only selling the concept here. If things go well on the phone, ask for a meeting. If you get the meeting, then its time to bring in a proposal, and sell your marketing program. Sell it HARD. If that works, then you close the deal, discussing the financing. If you get the money, execute your marketing program with excellence, and exceed their expectations (the four E's). I should write a book on marketing programs!
  23. One step above the Sol. Better braking system, better for larger baits. Not as comfy to palm as the Sol, but a nice addition to your collection nonetheless. Cant comment on the Viento because I dont have one.
