  1. Bout tree fiddy... ...Seriously, looks like a 5 or 6 to me.
  2. Doesnt have much to do with the O (though the O shares the mentality), but it doesnt come from borrowing from China to pay for tax cuts and stimulus checks. I always get a kick out of people who are for tax cuts but complain about Chinese imports - does not compute!
  3. Z-Rays, Rooster Tails, Panther Martins, salmon eggs and meal worms have all worked for me.
  4. That figure doesnt really mean anything except Ford's marketing program is solid. McDonalds is the number one fast food chain but their food is almost as terrible as their service. Im not going to buy something just because a lot of others buy it. Since GM is using the taxpayers money to build their vehicles in China, I'll never own another one. Generally I dont care where vehicles are made but I have a problem with funding this concept since that doesnt help us. My mother owns a newer Tacoma, I may end up buying one if Toyota doesnt plan on releasing their diesel in the near future.
  5. Its similar to a worm but different. Once you get one in the water you'll understand. Watch as it falls, the action is subtle and fish just love it. It may look fake to you, but thats not an issue if its catching fish, right? 8-) I use the o-ring because fish tend to tear the baits at the hook and by using the o-ring you get more life out of them. BPS Stick-o's are a bit tougher than genuine Senko's imo, but I digress. I just slide the ring around the bottom of the bait (since its taper is a little bit more narro than the top),set it where I want and slide the hook in. Read the Senko FAQ to get more ideas.
  6. You can post all the tournament results you want, but none of that matters. Obviously KVD has an edge over Joe Fisherman, but that edge isnt quite so large in one tournament. For instance, say I show up and catch a 10lb hog. Extremely rare, but definitely possible. Meanwhile KVD cant seem to boat quality fish today and brings back a sack of five that each weigh 1-2 pounds. I win today, but that doesnt mean much of anything. KVD's edge grows exponentially as the sample size increases. Obviously betting against KVD is a losing play and costs you money in the long run even if you make money in the short run.
  7. As far as I know they share the same gear ratio, the D may be able to cast smaller baits further thanks to the lighter spool. Ive never used them but Ive compared both side by side and if the D wasnt so large Id probably choose it over the E.
  8. Im not a tackle junkie per se. I mean I buy a good amount of stuff but its mostly just the items that I know work well. Cant ever have too many jigs, hooks, Senkos, etc. especially with how often I get hung up.
  9. The D has a much larger profile, a wiffle spool, and I think it has one more bearing and the handle may be longer.
  10. Just seems like a lot of fluff..How are you an expert at public speaking? How do you promote products? How do you have passion for that company? What club did you get those wins and good finishes in, and how many boats were competing? I mean, you're thinking outside the box which in my opinion is great, but there is still some refinement to be done. Just put yourself in the decision makers shoes and ask tough questions about what you're offering. You need to be sending a proposal for a marketing program, not a resume for sponsorship. I think you're on the right track though!
  11. RW's link is perfect. You should be able to catch fish on a 3" slim Senko wacky rigged, just be patient.
  12. If its just one tournament, I could absolutely beat KVD or any angler for that matter regardless of the equipment at their disposal. Theres a lot of variance in fishing, and its possible for someone to be a winner short term but a loser long term. Id bet a lot of the professionals have a negative ROI long term, but its unlikely we'll ever see the long term. Anyone who says it isnt possible needs to read Fooled By Randomness and The Drunkards Walk. Bottom line, short term results are not an indicator of true performance.
  13. Have you tried downsizing your baits?
  14. If Daiwa or any other reel company wants a forum here Im sure Glenn will accommodate. Perhaps people love Shimano products for the same reason you love the Revo's, because they feel good and work for you? Im guessing we're all biased for recommending G-Loomis rods, right? : Definitely check out reels from all the manufacturers and find the one that feels best to you. I think for under $180 you cant beat the Curado but I personally dont like the feel of the 200E's and prefer the 100D's.
  15. Its a solid lake but pleasure boaters are coming out in droves. You can rent a boat at Roosevelt, may want to Google the Roosevelt Marina to find costs. IMO Rosey is your best bet right now with San Carlos second and Bartlett third.
  16. Roosevelt or San Carlos for larger bass in the Phoenix area. Will you have a boat?
  17. The reason our economy is in the toilet has little to do with what country your car comes from. How much money stays in the USA from foreign auto manufacturers? Well, lets take a look at a hypothetical scenario. Say foreign company X spends $50 billion to build a plant in America, hire American workers, and purchase parts from US based suppliers, and shows a profit of $10 billion (which is a superfluous figure to say the least). Seems quite a bit is being pumped into the US economy, quite a bit more than what is being taken out especially since most companies are looking to reinvest profits in order to expand. Saving a nation doesnt involve buying a big three automobile, rather it involves choosing to not elect officials who cut taxes and then borrow from foreign investors to make up for the loss of revenue, all the while increasing spending. By the way, that Camaro is uglier than a mud fence and bares striking resemblance to the Mustang ;D
  18. You're not going to do so well by using made up words like hella! 8-)
  19. Its all relative. I used to buy my fishing gear brand new and took it in the shorts because Im a bit of an enthusiast. I pretty much only buy used reels and mostly used rods anymore, I figure buying second hand means Im paying for the product itself and not for the marketing and packaging. As for non-fishing items... Bottled water tastes much, much different than the crap that comes out of the sink. I'll use some generic products, but things like soda have to be name brand because for whatever reason the generic brands cant compare. Is it hypocritical of me to care about how others spend their money because I dont wish to associate myself with materialistic folk who judge others based on the value of their possessions? :-/
  20. This. Try the Chronarch 50MG or Daiwa Sol for really light stuff.
  21. I saw someone driving down the road with a mask on, which is pretty ironic considering the probability of getting in a car accident is so much greater than catching swine flu. This reminds me of SARS, BSE, Bird flu, etc. the probability of catching such diseases is extremely low yet the panic is high. I blame the squawk box!
  22. I do. I feel that baitcaiting newbies shouldnt be fooling with the braking system at all, but instead focusing on thumb control, so I dont think it matters what system a reel has. Second, there are going to be defective units any time there is mass production, regardless of price. Saying "I had a defective unit, dont buy one" doesnt make any sense because defective units arent the norm, they are just variance in the mass production process. However, if the customer service in getting said defective unit replaced was poor, thats a great reason to avoid buying one. FWIW I dont think the Shimano Curado can be beat as a first baitcaster. I prefer the feel of the 100D over the 200E's, but to each their own. Buy something that feels good in your hands.
  23. Ive had both, didnt notice much of a difference - if I had to pick Id buy the Stradic MG.
  24. I use athletic tape on mine, no residue or any side effects.
  25. PLine CXX, Stren Original mono PLine or Sunline fluoro
