  2. Same here in a lot of the places I fish. Poppers, walking baits, etc. There's been times when they were futile to me, but after putting on a buzzbait, I'm catching multi-fish.
  3. I live in the southern part of the United States and in my own experience, when I cannot get bass to hit other topwater lures, a buzzbait virtually always seems to work for me. I'm just wondering, does the sound of a buzzbait somehow make bass become aggressive, topwater feeders? Has anyone had the same experience as me?
  4. Have you ever considered Amazon? I brought an Antares DC 16 about two years ago from a company in Tokyo, and it was here at my door in NC within a few days. I can't speak much for Ebay.
  5. What's the weight of the baits you generally toss? I ask because the japantackle site says, "Spool width is also a bit narrowed down to 19mm, to make the spool more suitable for casting regular 7-28g 1/4-1oz rigs better." I'm going to take a gamble and say the 19 will cast 1/4 oz lures better.
  6. I doubt it's forgiving as the DC 16, though. But both of them are good reels.
  7. I have a 16 Antares DC, but never used a 19 Antares. I say go for the 16 DC, as I don't think the 19 will be more forgiving for mistakes. Hitting a dock hard, getting caught on a branch, etc. I never recall having a backlash that I literally had to pick at.
  8. The first baitcaster I disassembled fell apart into pieces, so I shipped it off to the professionals to service it, and piece it back together. Lol.
  9. I have a little of both. I also like their grasshopper crankbaits and poppers.
  10. https://www.sovereignsuperbaits.co.uk/Lures/Soft-Baits/Worms/images/jelly_worms2_reduced.jpg Black Firetail. When I contacted Mann's about it, they said something about it being costume made, and the store that did have them is no longer in business.
  11. Smithwick Devil's Horse. The perch one.
  12. No experience with Ebay, but I had no problem with it on Amazon, other than the arrival dates are generally way before the latest expected date. My Antares DC 16 was given a month at latest to arrive here in NC, but it was here within days.
  13. I never went back after using the Antares DC 16.
  14. One time I've seen a big piece of floating foam... thought it was a body at first.
  15. Difficult to say. Here in NC bass can be found about everywhere, and they fight good. That has something to do with it.
  16. Thanks for the reply. That did cross my mind, but I asked because it seemed like some frog fishermen will use 50 and 65lb braid on a rod not rated for line that strong.
  17. Tacklewarehouse has the rod's line wt listed as 8-16lb. Sunline Shooter Defier Nylon Monofilament 22 lb diameter is .015 How safe is it to use that test?
  18. No idea, but it seems the 17 Exsence isn't talked about much.
  19. I've seen some users purchased the Antares DC 16, including myself, but I haven't seen much on the Exsence.
  20. This is why I mostly partake in old farm pond fishing, unless someone has a boat.
  21. Just an overall one if possible. Mostly my topwater baits are poppers, and fast moving lures, such as buzzbaits.
  22. Could any of you recommend a good topwater rod for under $300? Now that I know the Orochi isn't a topwater rod, haha.
  23. How well do they handle baits such as buzzbaits and poppers?
  24. Could anyone provide me with any information on these rods? Been wondering what baits they're primarily designed for, and if they're M, MH, or H rods.
  25. Mine was so smooth out of the box that it felt like there was no spool on it... Now, even after oiling and greasing it, and sending it to a professional to be serviced, it's still somewhat has a geary feeling. The handle still turns easy, it doesn't lock up, and it casts just fine, but I can now feel a slight feeling of the gears working when turning the handle. Only way I can get that spool-less feeling again now is to actually to remove the spool... Haha.
