  1. those Dicks/Strike King Banshee spinnerbaits with the hook guards have awesome trailer hooks and trailer hook keepers. That is what made me create this thread, i want to find out how to replicate it best. At least SOMEONE knows exactly what I am talking about!
  2. ^ works great with a 1/0 ewg (vmc w/ 3 barbs is best imo for this presentation) a split sot 8" above the line and a zoom finesse worm. worms great for pitching with 6 lb test.
  3. flat belly frogs for mats and keeled belly for open water
  4. wasn't sure if the free swinging method above will keep the hook attached or not
  5. i like to use a trailer hook and i like for it to be free swinging. This is not up for debate at the moment. What i would like to know is how to use the surgical tubing provided with the 1/0 gamakatsu trailer hooks i purchased. will be using 1/2 oz kid finesse spinnerbaits. thanks.
  6. i might b e interested, can you give me more info?
  7. backpack but a thin one with straps cross your waist, chest and to tighten the contents down so it will be less painful to so=upport due to physics.
  8. I typically use trailer hooks on all of my chatter baits, spinnerbaits, and buzz baits. In open water i will sometimes use a treble hook on my chatterbaits an a curly tail grub as a trailer. These two do not interfere with each other. In ultra clear water, i don't use a trailer hook because they make the bait look more like a lure. In stained water, especially around cover i throw a spinnerbait with a trailer hook. I am not afraid to go get my lure that is snagged when im in the boat or on shore, so getting snagged isn't a big deal. I use trailer hooks because when i went to vermont last year, I had never fished spinnerbaits before, but had about 10 of them. Half already had a trailer hook that i put on, and the others didn't. I found myself catching more bass and pike with the trailer hook than the main hook itself. that is what led me to use trailer hooks. i am also not a huge fan of the "what if" for example "what if i put on a trailer hook, would i have caught that fish. i typically fish double willow spinnerbaits, in white, bluegill, or chartreuse. Some 1/4 - 1/2 oz baits. I like the KVD Finesse the best so far. As for trailer hooks, i like a free swinging trailer hook, so the hamamatsu 2/0 trailer hooks with surgical tubing work best for me.
  9. that spinnerbait can be got from walmrt for 5$. I almost got one yesterday but stopped because of the blade.
  10. if it is pressured lake, throw stuff others aren't, like drop shots and other finesse baits.
  11. plastic is made from an oil i believe, but im not sure. I was wondering the same question. you would think the bass wouldn't like the smell, It seems like that doesn't bother them.
  12. https://www.ebay.com/itm/253663574185?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649 buy the one im selling! it is a great reel!
  13. Im thinking about an older mg shimano as a beater rod that i can use for frogs of something like that that i won't be concerned with keeping it brand new for resale purposes
  14. I have had a really good hookup ratio with it so far.
  15. Im in, hopefully ill be around for it!
  16. I will be fishing a tournament in a few days. Weather has been a stable 72* and sunny during the day and 52* and dark at night. Lake has almost no structure. It is 75 acres. One side the lake is 15' deep but that are gets the most pressure. The clarity is 3-4 feet typically. In the tournament I plan on throwing keitechs, swim jig, chatter bait, spinnerbait, and a drop shot. is this a good plan for a big bass and big pickerel tournament?
  17. Yesterday I went with a friend to a local lake that is infested with milfoil. He just got a fish finder and we tried marking waypoints to map out the milfoil weediness, but were slightly unsuccessful. Does anyone have tips for me on how to mark weediness?
  18. I got a chance to fish a friends live target popping frog today. he had two, one black and one green. He said they were from TW and were new. Anyways, I have had a really hard time hooking fish with frogs in the past. Today i went 6/6 hooking bass up to four pounds. I was fishing in very heavy milfoil mats and my trolling motor wasn't strong enough to get to the fish in time for them to come free. I ended up landing 3/6 of the fish. This was likely because of the vegetation not the frog itself. thought people might want to check this new frog out it seems legit!
  19. If i were in that position I would also get the GLX, which is a better bang for the buck; however, the NRX is probably a nicer rod (it is on paper). I have never used either rod, only handled them in store.
  20. depends on what you are using the rod for, if its bottom contact where sensitivity is key get the nrx. if not, get the glx and save some money
  21. the problem is that you took something apart and then forgot how to put it back together. take it apart again putting everything on a white cloth to avoid losing parts. each piece taken off gets placed to the right of the last. if that doesn't work try youtube or send it to a repair shop. be gentle with the parts and avoid stripping the screws
  22. get a quality rod and real, but it doesn't need to break the bank maybe a daiwa tatula ct 7.3:1 and a doby7ns fury 7'0" MH with 12 lb mono or 30 lb braid covers pretty much everything. get the same hand retrieve in case she doesn't like it so you can add it to your arsenal like said above!
  23. 30 lb braid is great when fishing: in stained water close quarters heavy vegetation heavy cover/structure 30 lb braid is not great when fishing: clear water making long casts fishing tiny lures I like 30 lb braid on my skipping rod for docks because i know that i wilnt break off and i have a little bit better abrasion hesitance than i would with 15 or 10 lb test. really just depends what you are using it for...
