  5. I'm doing the exact same thing as some others posted. I'm cutting down on the number of combos I use. I've upgraded my three most versatile combos of which I do 75% of my fishing. Those combos are quality gear where price is secondary Ive thought about this before. Maybe I should get 1 nice Spinning setup, 1 nice medium caster, two medium heavies and a heavy

Is this enough to cover most of the techniques in bass fishing?
  7. Thanks, if it weren't for that feature and the drag, i wouldn't be getting that reel.
  8. Looking to get another casting rod/reel in the future. I like the ALX Ikos 7' M. Seems like a great rod. Also, the Curado 70 7.2:1 seems like a good option. I would like use a leader with 20lb braid. What do you think?
  9. i like the way the 1500 balances on the rod, it allows me to hold it above the reel seat and get maximum casting accuracy and sensitivity
  10. the spinning setup i have is the cabala's tournament zx one. The reel is an upgraded version of the Daiwa Legalis. I believe
  11. I have been debating this for a while now. I am thinking of using the 7' m and 1500 reel for drop shots and swimbaits. I will then get a 7'1" MH Powell Max 3D and Shimano Stradic FK 2500. 15 lb braid and 8lb leader
  12. Would a 7'6" H Dobyns Sierra suit me well as my flipping rod? I would likely pair it with an 8.1:1 ***. I would get a spare spool too. One would have 50-65 lb braid, the other with 20-25 lb fluorocarbon.
  13. find 3 brands of each type of hardbait you like and buy 3 of 3 colors or 2 of 4 colors. find a few brands of plastics you like and have at least 15 -25 of each color you like have 10 hooks of each size and style have 10 tungsten worm and flip weights of the most common sizes and less of the less common ones stick to craw, green pumpkin, and black blue for skirted lures. hope this helps
  14. I fish swim jigs a lot. I use a 7' Medium Moderate Fast rod for 1/4 oz swim jigs like the Strike King Tour Grade one. Light wire hooks and medium rods do great. For trailers i use paddle tail swimbaits. I sometimes use wacky bands one the bait and hook shank for durability. I pitch this lure near docks and brush. My second rod is for large swim jigs.7'3" MH Fast rod and 30 lb braid. I cast in and near the vegetables. Same trailer as above. I also use swim jigs when I'm not getting bit on the chatter bait. its like a shaky head compared to a wobble head. A more finesse version of something similar.
  15. I currently own a 7' M F Cabela's Tournament ZX and 1500 size Cabala's Tournament ZX reel. That is my only bass spinning rod. It works well for wacky rigs and small keitechs. Looking at a new drop shot rod and reel. Would an *** 6'10" ML / Powell Max 3D 7'1"ML work? For reel i like the stradivarius fk 3000? thanks
  16. I am new to the creek smallmouth game. I am talking about small rivers. Not small streams or big rivers What are your tips? What lures, what time of year, where to find the fish, etc. thanks
