  1. A big jig bite is second to none IMO. A close second would be a spinnerbait bite, then big worm bite.
  2. Youtube how to set up a baitcaster with the magforce z braking system. I believe @fishnkamp has posted links before. It is similar to a normal baitcaste
  3. What's your budget? If you like lews (not my favorite brand) you could try a bb1, or a lfs. My personal choice of reels is the daiwa tatula ct. Can be had for $100 on ebay and Amazon. They require a different setting up but once you do, you can bomb casts and can be mostly backlash free. (depending on your casting technique)
  4. I fish 2 tourneys a year. I love every moment of it. The pressure, the competition between anglers and also the competition within myself. I do fish for "fun" sometime, but I Still am competitive every outing. Growing up in a family full of athletes and raising my own little family of competitors, competition and winning is in my blood. I don't care what anyone says. "Win or lose, as long as you had fun." well I'm here to tell you It's a lot more fun to win than to lose.
  5. I didn't catch this while fishing, but while I was bowfishing. I shot at a small spotted gar and hit him, but my arrow was stuck in the mud beneath him. I pulled and pulled on that 200Lb braided line until I pulled up my prize...an Ab Lounge! And I must say, that fish had some of the best abs I've ever seen on a fish lol
  6. Love my falcon Bucoo sr. 7'4 Heavy. Its way under budget at $129 I believe. I wrote a short review on this rod a week ago here on bass resource.
  7. 30Lb braid, plenty of strenth and still a very small diameter line. Braid will let your baits run deeper because of line diameter. I suggest 30Lb daiwa j-braidx4
  8. I have the bass pro tackle bag. And I hold 8 3600 size boxes. Plus pliers, cutters, tools, 3 spools of line and i think Jimmy Hoffa may be in there too. Good bag. Holds all of my tackle I need for a tournament.
  9. Torque, slower gears = more power and less speed. Higher gears = speed and not as much torque. Its like comparing a big diesel truck and a camaro.
  10. 10 technique specific combos. 1 especially being my frog rod..I've always despised throwing topwater, but i bought a 7'3 heavy and a 8.1:1 reel and boy do I enjoy tossing Kermit around now.
  11. I'm really close to there and did a drive by and stopped and talked to what seemed to be some seasoned anglers. Hoping I can get one of my buddies to get their boat out on it soon. A change of scenery would be nice. And having the chance to stick a musky would be fun.
  12. Anybody ever fished Bluegrass FWA just north of Evansville? Scoped it out today and boy what a beautiful set of pits they have. There are musky there and also lots of big largemouth.
  13. P-line cxx. Super cheap. But is almost double it's breaking strength per lb test. All I use.
  14. Please post how it goes!
  15. Yes I know, bringing a 4 year old thread back to life. But there is so much good information and so much entertaining knowledge that I couldn't help but comment.
  16. Awesome! Glad she is healthy. And glad mom is doing well. My son is 15 days old today, I didn't think I could love him more than the first time I seen him, but it grows more and more every day. Congrats on the new addition. Hopefully you all get to come home soon.
  17. Around here it's all toyota, but considering I'm sitting in one of the most profitable toyota plants in North america as we speak, it makes sense.
  18. I didn't know there was a Honda-toyota discussion lol
  19. Would love to hear the story of your pb. 19.3lbs right?
  20. 3/16 is probably just the head weight. Not counting the blade, wire ,hook, and skirt
  21. Literally any plastic will work as a trailer. I prefer a rage menace or 4 inch swimbait on my chatter baits.
  22. White belly. Black belly. I could care less what the top or sides look like.
  23. Downsize your hook and also use either round bend or straight shank as @WRB suggested.
