  1. 3/8 oz tungsten, 6/0 ewg hook, 10.5 inch excite baits maximus worm. 50Lb braid, 20Lb copoly leader. 7Lb 2 oz.
  2. 25# copolymer is probably just as visible as 30-40lb miss green braid. Id stick with the braid myself
  3. There's a difference brand to brand and even model to model. There are no standards in the fishing industry.
  4. Love my spro swivels for carolina rigging. Cannot comment on the other brand.
  5. Did you spool it backwards? Make sure the line goes on the reel the same way it comes off the spool. Keeps the memory the same. Also line conditioner could help.
  6. It's thick because it's a glad rod correct?
  7. The Snickers commercial where the girl comes home late, the mom asks "young lady what are you doing home? Its 11 you should be out disappointing your father" then fired up a lawn mower in the house and says "I gotta get this place cleaned up!"
  8. 100 percent it affected his fishing, whether the fish could see his line is beyond my educational background. But I am a braid guy, and use a leader for every technique except frogging. It's a confidence thing for me. I would say Thats why he couldn't get bites on straight braid. Happened to me the blast tourney i fished, threw around straight braid, no bites, picked up the rod with the leader in it and started wacking the big ones.
  9. If you look on ebay, the curado I can be had for under 100 dollars, meaning you could spend 100 dollars on a rod like the dobyns fury, lews tp1 speed stick, abu garcia veritas and have a super nice combo for the money you have saved up for just the reel. And then you would also have 2 baitcasting combos making you more versatile being able to have more than 1 lure tied on
  10. Jigs are my favorite, I was always a big fan of the t-rig, and still am, but I love tying on a 3/8 oz black and blue jig with a yum f2 craw chunk trailer in summer craw and laying the smack down on some bass. It definitely is a different feel but once you figure it out it can be one of the most successful ways to fish. Especially around standing timber.
  11. First time he opened his eyes! My little guy is doing better and better. I really appreciate all the kind words and thoughts. He's a spitfire and a lady killer already
  12. Jig and craw. Followed by a big worm with a 3/8 oz bullet weight.
  13. I plan to pick some up to carolina rig
  14. I use a 7'5 mh, same rod i throw my carolina rigs on. Haven't caught a fish in either technique, recently started fishing then this year.
  15. I like a high speed reel like a daiwa tatula ct 8:1 gear ratio. Medium power fast action Shorter rod 6'6-7'. And 30lb braid.
  16. I like black for dark times. Night fishing, thick mats, rain, and dark water and fishing for fish that don't have shad as a forrage. White belly is all of the above plus it can be used as a shad immitator.
  17. Black colored lures will catch fish in most water. I only throw black frogs and white frogs. The frogs around here have a white belly so that works for me
  18. I'm lucky enough to fish some private strip mine lakes. Spoiled rotten lol
  19. Indiana here as well, 3lbs is a nice fish where I'm at as well. I would consider 4lb a big bass and anything over 6.5 a trophy for where I'm at. I've caught 3 over 6 the last few years. 1 Over 7. Keep plugging along and researching here at br and the bigger fish will come.
  20. Think of it as pulling power instead of leverage. A large truck with a low gear ratio can pull a lot more weight easier than a souped up camaro. But the camaro can go a lot faster in a lot less time. That's why It's suggested you use a 5:1 gear ratio for high resistance baits like deep diving cranks and large spinnerbaits.
  21. Me with my little guy. Born 7/27/17. 3lb 7oz. 10 weeks early.
