  1. The things I'd do to catch a 3.5lb red ear are illegal in 27 states. Lol
  2. This may sound like a joke but, I throw my 20ft+ divers on a 7'11 H skeet reese deep plus crank rod with an orra winch 5.4 gear ratio. Yes its lower end. Probably as low as you can get. But I love it. Haven't caught a fish yet with it but also havent fished it in the right time of year. I use 30lb braid with mine as well and can cast a 10xd 75 yards or better.
  3. Between the irod, powell and dobyns, which weighs the most?
  4. Ct all the way. 8.1:1 gear ratio and 13.2 lbs of drag. Have 4 ct's and cant ever justify buying another reel even when I want to. For 100 bucks you can buy 3 ct's to 2 curados on sale.
  5. Bucoos are pretty light right? And which series?
  6. Wanting a new rod to throw 1/2 ounce jigs and the occasional 3/4 ounce jig. Bought a 7'3 heavy and it feels like im fishing with a baseball bat so now it is my frog rod. The rods I have picked out are less than 200 dollars. Dobyns Fury 765 FLIP MH Duckett Micro Magic 7'6 MH IROD Genesis 7'6 MH Denali Kovert Lite 7'6 MH Denali Lithium 7'6 MH Shimano Zodias MH (not sure on what lengths are offered) Open to other suggestions as well. Thanks to all.
  7. Ac/dc: "dirty deeds and the thunder chiefs" Garth brooks: "well I'm not big on sausage gravy, where the whiskey drowns and the beer chases my blues away"
  8. I'd rather flip grass or wood, or go into deeper water and throw a big worm or jig. I don't hate it. Just like it least.
  9. X2 on the cxx. I am a braid type of guy but I also like cxx for an all purpose line. Shop by diameter not by lb test. Or have just a backup reel spoiled with mono or braid for topwater. A reel is much easier to carry than a whole other combo
  10. Although I have no experience with the combos mentioned, I regret having 10 nice combos instead of 6-7 bad to the bone combos. Just my opinion. I feel that nice equipment makes fishing even that much more enjoyable.
  11. I may have to do it, i have always thought a "slow" buzzbait would be killer when there was a slight chip or at night. My topwater box is quite bare, whopper plopper here I come!
  12. Still need to invest in some of those ploppers, just can't bring myself to do it. Dont really enjoy fishing topwater, but I bet they be killer on a lake where one has never been thrown.
  13. Youtube is your friend. Also the google machine, or the search bar on this page
  14. Yes i love when all the colors mix. Have some white/blue with just a hint of red(bleed off from another color) and it kills in the fall. I also primarily fish 2 colors of soft baits/ jigs. Green pumpkin and black/blue. I keep it simple
  15. This isnt a sling pack, but the bps backpack is awesome. I caught mine on sale for 27 dollars and it came with 3 or 4 3600 boxes. I have a total of 9 3600 boxes, 2 reels, 2 spools of line, clippers, knife, pliers, screwdriver, 1lb bag of senkos, and have the small pockets free still if i had odds and ends or need to put my cellphone in there. I can make a good cast with it on. You can also zip off the bottom half and just take 4 3600 boxes if you needed. I also sort my tackle by style of fishing, ie: shallow/moderate cranks, jigs, trailers, terminal tackle, plastics, coldwater, topwater, spinnerbaits/chatterbaits, deep cranks.
  16. Southern indiana boy here too. About 90 miles from louisville. By your last name im gonna guess youre. Near dubois county? No offense if you arent
  17. My new pb! At a different lake, throwing a 10.5 inch straight tail worm. 7Lb 2oz. A giant for southern indiana
  18. Yeah id like to see a 5 or even 6 inch version. Something thatd fit on a 4/0 hook
  19. Of course they are better if you have a boat. But both have plenty of bank access. Bluegrass has 3 or 4 laks on it. Bluegrass pit, otter pit, and loon pit.
  20. Bluegrass will be along the way for your trip. Also turtle creek just south of terre haute. Bluegrass is off of interstate 69 north of evansville. and turtle creek is just off Highway41.
  21. where are you leaving from? Bluegrass fwa, Hovey lake, sugar ridge, prides creek, glendale, huntingburg lake. Theres some that are all north of kentucky.
  22. Well we weighed in 23lbs. 3 fish over 18 inches and 3 under (tournament rules). Big bass was 7lbs 2 oz. Caught it on a 10.5 inch straight tail worm. 2nd place
  23. Thats what i think ill do. Start a touch deeper off the grass line and if i dont get em there, head shallow with all this new bank that has been created sith the 12 inches of rain weve had over the last 5 days.
  24. Im a little more south than most of you guys but have a wuestion regarding all this cool weather and rain. Will the chamge in water temps (im guessing over a 5 degree drop or more) will this keep fish that wanted to spawn from spawning or will they still go shallow and spawn? I have my biggest tourney of the year saturday and am racking my brain on what to focus my attention on right off the bat. I need to weigh in roughly 21 pounds. 3 over 18 inches and 3 under 18 inches. Im thinking im gonna have more preapawn baits ties one (lipless, jerkbait, spinnerbait, and jig.)
