  1. Tatula ct. 7.1 gear ratio. 17Lb p-line cxx. Love it.
  2. It was a 30 inch fish? Nah try 24.5 inches. Old news.
  3. I get it too. Will screen shot next time I get it
  4. ^^^this
  5. Deep fried hot dog. I known it sounds crazy but it's great. Fry up some dogs, then throw ya some fries in and it makes for some good eating!
  6. Went today for about 5 minutes. Took my nephew who has never caught a fish. Between the moss and others fishing and super trashy people, we casted 5 times and he caught one bass. Would've loved to fish longer but he was ready to go home and play wiffleball.
  7. I like daiwa j-braid x4. Can be found in ebay for fairly cheap. Very thin. Casts great.
  8. 3/0 round bend worm hook. And I bought some vmc shake heads with the spring that swivels and like those just fine. Not sure if there is a certain name for those.
  9. cxx has some memory but I love it. I use it as a leader and also have my spare reels spooled with it if I feel like braid will not be the best choice due to abrasion. In fact, on my deep water rod I have 20lb cxx spooled on it with a 12 inch worm and a 5/0 ewg as we speak.
  10. Lots of good info. Regarding the fc fouling in the front hook, I have started to use mono or copoly for my leaders for this reason. I also like the manageability of copolymer more than fc. My jerkbait setup has 15lb braid to a 10lb p-line cxx leader or 10lb bps mono crappie max leader, whichever is closer to me when I'm tying my leader. Also I use a Palomar or San Diego jam knot.
  11. Deep water. All of my 6+ pound bass (big bass for southern indiana) have came from deeper water. Wheter it be drop offs, road beds, brush piles, or an old tree line. Try a carolina rig, jig, big texas rigged worm, swinging rugby head, or magnum shakey head. I also like a big Willow blade spinnerbait with a 5 inch swimbait as a trailer.
  12. Welcome from Southern IN
  13. Glad I'm not the only one that thinks that. No vaction scheduled. But the middle of July I go to day shift for a week with straight 8's so that's close enough.
  14. Got out for an hour or so yesterday at one of my favorite large ponds. Took my daughter and wife. Between the three of us we caught a 1 rock bass, 3LMB, and 4 catfish. Good day to end a 70hr work week.
  15. Stephen key, he is around the Indianapolis area. Find him in Facebook.
  16. Have one on my frog rod and 2 spare reels spooled with 15 and 20lb cxx if I feel that I need more abrassion resistance than my normal braid for fishing deep texas rigs and jigs.
  17. Have this reel in the 50 size for bluegill/crappie. Absolutely love it....for that. Would not trust it fishing for anything I would consider a trophy. I'd say it would hold up 4 outings bass fishing
  18. Numbers and big fish are the same baits for me. Whatever you use during the day. Just because it turns night time doesn't mean bass eat different stuff or will only hit loud obnoxious topwaters. They will still eat baitfish, crawdads, worms, bugs, bluegills, frogs etc. So I use the same baits I would if day fishing. I do prefer weedless baits for the fact that if you make a bad cast into a tree or whatever it can be easily retrieved.
  19. So...is there bass in the pond? Maybe try a light carolina rig or mojo rig.
  20. Well after messing around with some of my gear, I've decided that it wasn't the rod that made me feel like I was fishing with a ball bat, it was the size/weight of the reel. Took off my cabelas prodigy and put on my tatula ct. And I love it. Can't believe I didn't try that before posting. So for now the search for a jig rod has been postponed. 7'3 lews tp1 speed stick Heavy/Fast with a tatula ct 8.1 and 50lb daiwa j-braid x4 Is the setup for me...for now.
  21. By is a small real very comparable to my lews lfs. It has a different feel (not in a bad way) I pick up my ct every chance I get. Have 4 of them. And for 100 bucks on auction sites they are great. Look up how to set up a reel with the magforce z brakes on them. Just a bit different than normal. I did this and got greater distance out of my cts
