  1. When I use a Zara Spook or Jr, I use white with a red head. I have a clear one and frog pattern version that I never use because the red/white one is always catching fish. Not sure if color matters with that style bait.
  2. Either will make you happy. Both the Tatula 150 and the Curado K are super solid reels. I use both regularly. Here's the link to the $109.00 Tatula. Can't beat this reel for the price. https://www.sportsmansoutfitters.com/products/daiwa-tatula-150-baitcast-fishing-reel?_pos=1&_sid=6d1b7e53e&_ss=r
  3. I use size 1 and 1/0 on 1/16, 5/16, and sometime 1/8oz heads.
  4. Take a look at the Daiwa Tatula spinning rods, the bass rods with the cork handle. They are right at your price point, but feel much nicer than their price point. They are very light and well balanced and extremely sensitive. This series of rods is really nice.
  5. I only use Wera Lasertip screwdrivers when working on my reels. They don't slip and strip your screws. Philips in the 350 PH (PH 0 by 60) and flathead 335. These are for most small screws on reels. For larger sizes I would recommend size 1 drivers.
  6. Dobyns Fury 735 would fit the bill perfectly. Middle of the road rod, but super nice.
  7. All my LTB casting rods were too tip heavy for me, not sure of the higher lines of St Croix rods. All of my Loomis IMX , IMX Pro, and GLX rods are perfect. I prefer the Loomis MBR and JWR tapers to the st croix rods. My 2 cents
  8. Bitsy Flip jigs, with a small trailer of your choice will catch tons of fish. Try a Yum Wooley Bug at $2.99 per pack you can also use a TRD worm on this jig and clean up. Bitsy Flip jigs are $2.29 ea and have a great sharp hook. Sounds like he was using the wrong lure for the situation.
  9. I received an email from Pelican that they will ship mid March. I received an email from Pelican that they will ship mid March.
  10. Does anyone have any info as to when the Power 100 will be released? Thanks
  11. My LWS rod is beautiful, balanced and sensitive. My LTB casting rods were another story. What is that LYM80MH rod? I’ve never heard of it.
  12. Whatever the issue is I’ve tried 3 different PO with the same answer every where. I’m not saying they know what they are doing. How long was the tube before and after you trimmed it?
  13. I had 2 LTB casting rods that were so tip heavy I had to sell them. Which models do you use? do you find them tip heavy?
  14. I have never been able to use the USPS to ship a rod over 6'6", and have it cost under $40.00. I only use FedEx these days because it's always $32.00. That is the cheapest I have ever been able to ship a rod over 6'6". I would love to hear how to ship a rod over 6'6" via USPS for $15.00. I live in Chicago and it it's going west of the Mississippi add $10.00, yes to $50.00 via USPS.
  15. You can often find Shimano reels much cheaper on EBay.
  16. I hear what you're saying as far as wight goes. However finesse swim jigs have a lighter wire hook which would determine the setup the OP would use, as would the weight of the jig. IMO the extra 1/8oz or so doesn't matter as much, it wouldn't change the rod power he would use. The advice the OP wants would still be a MH power rod and the line they prefer.
  17. That's exactly what I suggested too
  18. He's asking about a 5/16oz finesse swim jig in a particular.
  19. MH casting set up 6’6”- 7’2” 30lb braid. My favorite is a loomis MBR in 3 power.
  20. 7’ Loomis IMX MBR with a Tatula SV TW for 3/8 jigs and swim jigs. Light, balanced, sensitive and beautiful.
  21. What size wire is used to tie these jigs skirts?
  22. I like the larger hook for the better hook-up ratio. The original Z-Man has a huge hook, and I've caught plenty of 1lb bass with it. I have never seen a vibrating jig with a small hook. Someone will come out the the Smallie Chatterbait soon, something with a 3/0 hook.
  23. If you have items saved in you wishlist, you can view the model #'s there.
  24. I am a G Loomis fan 100%. In your budget I would recommend a 6'6" or 6'8" medium action Tatula spinning rod and a Tatula LT 3000 shallow spool spinning reel. You will want for nothing, and if you shop around you can get both for $300. I am really into the older IMX SJR and the Tatula spinning rods are pretty close in feel and lightness. Just my 2 cents. 8 years too late! haha
  25. I ordered some Original Chatterbaits in California Craw and that is the color I was looking for. Green/black stripes with copper flecks. It looked so different in the photos I couldn't tell it was the same color. Thanks for the help everyone.
