  1. Lighter weight and increased sensitivity for starters. Hold a P5 Megabass rod and you will instantly be amazed at the quality/beauty/weight/sensitivity/action. It makes an NRX+ look like a used Corolla.
  2. Oh heck nah. I'd get a guide.
  3. Nope, it's a kayak. Looking to buy a boat soon though. I need to start looking.
  4. That's the plan as I have a ton to burn. 1 week in September, 1 in October, and 1 in November. Love the fall. If I play my cards right, hopefully I can fish Lake St Clair. #1 on my bucket list.
  5. Unless I'm missing something, I don't see the action listed. All going to depend on that, IMO.
  6. I bought and use the U-40. Not sure if it's going to make much difference. Every high end rod I bought last year and this year I've put on.
  7. ABSOLUTELY! It's going to be in the 70's and even 60's over here the rest of the week. I'm taking 3 weeks off this fall to fish. Can't wait.
  8. Many have mentioned this one and I'm surprised I haven't tried it yet. Do you put a trailer on it? That's the only thing that's held me back as I typically like to add a trailer and they say you don't need to on it.
  9. Yeah I've been eyeing their hats as well. Pricey but look very nice. I always where a baseball hat so the added protection would be nice. I'd only wear gloves for either the sun or the cold. The ones they sell interest me a lot but they only sell two sizes. I have smallish hands so I bet the S/M would be too big.
  10. Yeah I like those. They seem to check every box I would want.
  11. I don't wear gloves but if I did I would want them extremely form fitting, thin, and light. If it's cold I'm looking for something as close to this as possible with some added warmth. I don't want to spend a ton of money on the most sensitive rod and then throw on a pair of beefy gloves. IDK, just me.
  12. I wish I wouldn’t have ever seen this post. After googling Throwback swimbaits and then watching random YouTube videos, I might have to work an extra year before I can ever retire. Nothing ordered yet, but the Monkey now NEEDS a pink lemonade Metro.
  13. Ordered! You’ll be pleased to hear I also picked up a Karashi. Thanks for the link and everyone that commented. For some reason I ran out of “likes”.
  14. The Dobyns looks good and I’m going to order a couple. Now, I consider myself a somewhat smart man. With that said, I have ZERO clue how to order these on their website. I select the bait, but there’s no option to purchase. There’s no “add to cart” button or anything. What am I missing? lol
  15. Well, I guess an overall well made spinnerbait that holds up with a good hook. Oh, and a good baitkeeper. A blade came off one of the Strike Kings with not much use. Also, the baitkeeper at least to me seemed too thick. The trailer seemed to always split because of how thick it was.
  16. Who makes a really good spinnerbait? I'm still young in my green bass hunting so I have limited experience with spinnerbaits. Last year I tied on a spinnerbait I purchased at least 10 years ago and loved it. Ended up catching my biggest of the year (4 lber) and then shortly after lost it to a snag. Come to find out they don't make them anymore. It was the Terminator Titanium T1 or something. Double willow. Since then I've been trying to find a good one. I bought a few Strike King Tour Grade Compact Double Willow spinnerbaits this year and I'm just not a fan. What's a good one? THANKS!
  17. We will see how my swimbait fishing transforms. Right now the rod I have maxes out at 3.5 ounces, at least that's the rating. I'm already a quality over quantity kind of guy so that's good.
  18. Sounds like I'm gonna have to get me a Karashi. Not sure why I've put it off for so long.
  19. Well, this isn't just some "normal" bass I caught the other day. This was my FIRST fish I've caught on a "big" swimbait. I'm in Iowa, it's "big" for me. I had a couple of hours to burn Friday morning before my daughter's White Coat ceremony. The plan was to test cast a reel on a new rod, and I figured I'd bring two other combos with me. One being my swimbait rod. I wasn't even expecting to catch anything, it was just to test this new rod out. Before I did any test casting, I grabbed my swimbait rod and maybe on the 6th cast I hooked into this bass. It brought a huge amount of excitement. Not because the fish was big (it wasn't), but because it was my first fish caught on a big swimbait. I bought this rod/reel last fall and have barely used it. My wife and kids have always joked and said I would never catch a fish on a lure that big. Well I proved them wrong! Now I'm buying some more baits and can't wait to throw them. Sorry for the long story, amazing the joy a little fish can give someone.
  20. Not a dumb question, I literally just did a google search because I also am trying to post a picture. My search led to THIS post. LOL
  21. Sounds FUN! All on the karashi? I love catching panfish on tiny cranks. Bass love them as well. I really wanted to get a BFS combo this year but my wife would really kill me as I've spent a ton already. Oh well, I still have my UL spinning.
