  1. Just placed an order yesterday. With their holiday, it’s going to be cutting it close I bet. We will see.
  2. Perfect, that’s what I was hoping for. Thanks!
  3. Same rod, same reel, same lure. Exact same brand/style of line. Only difference is SIZE of the line. Which casts further? 10 lb 14 lb THANKS!
  4. So forgive my ignorance, but will the 70 cast lighter lures better than the 100? I guess that's what I was thinking but maybe I'm wrong.
  5. It's actually what I have on the same pole. Figured I'd get something a little nicer even though it does work well, especially for the price.
  6. Dobyns Champion series. Slightly under your $300 price with a lifetime warranty.
  7. That's pretty cool, what is it????
  8. I have a terrible way of keeping track and my wife absolutely hates it. I don't do this on everything but if it's something new to me, I'll save the package. That way if it worked really good I can go back to it and remember. It allows me to not only remember the lure, but the exact color. On the flipside, if there's something I don't like, I can also go back. For example, this year I bought some spinnerbaits from Strike King that I can't stand. I went back to the package and now I know what to never buy again.
  9. Are you taking those pictures with a phone? Great quality!
  10. Purchased the rod, now just need to get a reel. Mostly throwing "normal" sized poppers and walkers. Not the BFS small stuff or larger sized walkers. When the water is really cold it will also throw jerkbaits, full sized as well as the Jr's. I figure I won't need much distance for poppers but for the walking baits and jerkbaits added distance would be nice. What do you think, 70 or 100 size? I bought a pretty nice rod so I'm willing to spend a decent amount on the reel as well. Monkey got me. Thanks!
  11. I’m assuming this deal is over? I checked their website and didn’t see anything.
  12. Yep, this is what I'm doing going forward. Not messing around with 200 yard spools anymore. Number 1, it's cheaper. Number 2, there's less waste. Nothing worse than putting say 140 yards on and you have 60 yards left. You can use the excess for leader material but if it's a size you don't use you are SOL.
  13. The Learning Curve of Fishing Floro. Buy inexpensive floro. Eventually backlash it and it gets kinked up. You either strip the majority of it off or fix the backlash and end up losing a fish or a lure because of said kink. You then realize that cheap floro is junk. You buy something slightly better. Eventually backlash it as well. You smarten up and make sure there's no kinks this time. You strip a ton off or maybe even the whole spool. You buy something even better. Moral of the story. Be prepared for some learning curves and getting your wallet out. It can be frustrating and expensive at the same time. If funds are limited, stick with mono.
  14. Oh crap. So the order needs to be placed before 8/29 or I need to get it delivered and out of the hands of say FedEx before then? I'm "assuming" the later?
  15. Well I better figure out which reel to get then and get it ordered asap. Thanks for the heads up, I've been wondering.
  16. Is fluoro the end all be all? Absolutely not. Does it help? Absolutely. Can you still catch fish on mono? Absolutely.
  17. Not a problem. I’m going to just buy another Oneten Special. I figure when it’s too cold out for top water I can have a couple of jerkbaits rigged up.
  18. The first really nice rod I purchased was for drop shotting. I was a big fan of Aaron Martens and I enjoyed watching him drop shot for smallmouth on Lake St Claire. However, I've never drop shotted in my life. Never got around to it and it became my ned rig rod. It's definitely something I need to try.
  19. I'd guess helicopter.
  20. Got into fishing because my dad did. Can't say he really taught me anything because he was a guy that I didn't see a bunch. I guess I self taught myself by trial and error and books from the library as a kid. Took many years off to hit a little white ball around a course. Now I'm back.
  21. I wonder how this would compare to the OneTen Special? I'm leaning towards buying another but the thought of having two identical rods doesn't sit well with me for some reason.
  22. Have you used it yet? Work good for poppers as well?
  23. How does mono handle a backlash compared to braid?
  24. Ever get something? I've decided I'm getting a dedicated topwater rod as well and going to throw pretty much the same as you. Last couple of outings I've been using my P5 OneTen Special and it works pretty good. I'm either going to get a second one or something else.
