  1. I know you are somewhat recent to the state. We can have tremendous amounts of fluctuating weather in a short period of time. You will hear things like "If you don't like the weather, just wait 24 hours". Or after a rapid 30-40 degree temperature swing, "Only in Iowa". Nice sunny day and the next day it's a blizzard? "Only in Iowa". Not the greatest weather here, but the people are.
  2. Thanks. I also just realized I posted this in the wrong forum. Ugh!
  3. They normally come in a 2 pack. So you are getting 8 total. That is how I look at it. They are basically 50% off it looks.
  4. I'm looking to add one more combo to the arsenal this year if the wife allows it. Well maybe something BFS as well. Fall fishing is by far my favorite time to fish and it seems like topwater, squarebills, and lipless cranks get mentioned a bunch for this time. Can you throw them all on the same rod effectively? I don't really have a rod for any of them. I was originally going to just say topwater and squarebills but then lipless cranks also popped in my head. Not sure if that rod would be a little different since you might be ripping baits through grass. I have a crankbait rod for mostly deeps 10 foot and down and it's way too long for topwater/squarebills. Topwaters I'd be mostly throwing poppers and walking baits. Squarebills would be something like the KVD 1.5's. One more thing, IF I got a rod for say topwater and squarebills, would straight mono work???? Might not get the most depth on the cranks but the mono would float for the topwaters. Thoughts? Thanks!
  5. Yep they are glass. One is telescoping. I can't imagine trying to cast with any of them. Crazy how the times have changed.
  6. Yep wont' be fishing today, going to be another terrible day. But there's mid 70's in the 7 day forecast. Let's gooooooooooooooooooo!
  7. You have your three main baits. Worms, leeches, and minnows. My favorite all time live bait is the leech. Haven't used in years but when I fished rivers I'd use them under a pencil bobber and I'd throw it up stream and work it back down with the current. I need to get back in some rivers.
  8. Know much about Hiawatha rods? I have some old stuff in my basement that I looked at the other day. Must have gotten from my grandpa after he passed away a long time ago. A few baitcasting combos with some Hiawatha rods. None in great shape unfortunately. Things are HEAVY. LOL
  9. Obit with his picture. Always nice to see the face behind the words. Appears to be a man of faith. God bless you sir. https://www.tributearchive.com/obituaries/43755343/tommy-thibodeaux
  10. I have a plastic box which I really don’t like. I’ll replace it with some type of bag style holder some day.
  11. Thanks for sharing. Sounds like you had one heck of a dad.
  12. Don’t have it but I do have the Mark 56. Handles swimbaits extremely well. Looking to increase my swimbait lure “collection” this fall.
  13. Yep, a heat advisory over here as well. Feels like 105 right now. I’m doing some organization planning as well. Lol I like your rod holder, what brand is it? My basement doesn’t have tall ceilings so I might get a smaller rod holder for some of my longer rods to have upstairs.
  14. Haven’t worn glasses since maybe 5th grade or so, do NOT miss them. Fogging up, constantly being dirty, breaking them, ugh. I wear contacts and use cheaters for things close up. 4x pair for knot tying.
  15. I can’t imagine what stupid company came up with this. Dumb.
  16. The last two weeks in Iowa have sucked that’s for sure. Heat, humidity, rain, flash floods, ugh. I’m REALLY hoping August won’t be like the last couple of weeks. Otherwise I’m ready for September. I have a ton of vacation to use this fall. Can’t wait for cooler water and temps.
  17. Nope not yet. I haven’t fished much in the last couple of weeks. Tons of rain, heat, and humidity. RealFeel is 101* right now.
  18. Went out last night for a very quick outing on a bank with the buzzbait. Water is pretty dirty from some major rain. Was trying to retrieve parallel and as close to the bank as possibly. Managed two bass. I'm pretty sure the one I have is a 1/2 oz Booyah with the clacker. IDK, I hate it. Maybe it's user error. OK it's probably user error. LOL I have a hard time trying to reel before it hits the water.
  19. Next time just say you will stay at home and then quickly hop in the trunk. Oh, and pay CASH.
  20. Thanks for the added tip. Yes, this particular place has a ton of wood under the surface.
  21. Is that the one where it was weighted in the back so it was supposed to glide backwards?? If so, man I wanted those when I was a kid!!!
  22. The only one I've really used and if I had to guess it's the 1/2oz. It's got a clacker on it. Seems like I have to reel it in going Mach 5. Rod tip high, try to reel before it even hits the water, even use braid. I need to find something different. Thanks again.
  23. I’ve noticed a lot of your pictures the bass have buzzbaits in their mouths. It’s a bait I’ve only thrown a small handful of times and I think I only have one in my arsenal. What are you throwing? I’m going to get a few on of these days. Thanks
