  1. I would agree. They are going to stick with the "standard" spinning and baitcasting. BFS to me is just a fun and different way to catch bass. Throwing micro baits on UL baitcasting ain't gonna cash checks for those dudes. JMO.
  2. That wasn't on my bingo card for the day.
  3. Thanks for the update. For the love of Gee O Dee I wish JLS would hop on board their business model. I'm almost tempted to email them and see if they will. Their revenue has to be WAY down since the tariffs.
  4. Not a boat owner, but: I think a big wife could take care of that no problem.
  5. Thanks all. The rod I'm currently using is about 20 years old and only 6'6". It gets the job done but figured it might be time for an upgrade.
  6. Now that I have your attention. I'm comparing two rods. Both have IDENTICAL specs (power, action, line and lure recommendations), the only difference is one is 7'0" and the other is 7'6". Does it just boil down to casting? The shorter the more accurate and the longer more distance? What are the advantages or disadvantages? Looking for a spinnerbait/bladed jig/swim jig rod. THANKS
  7. Expect the opposite, prices will be going up.
  8. Eating a bass from warm polluted water? No way. That's why I stick with beef!
  9. Maybe I'm mistaken, but are there no recent Zillion models? I only see '21 and '22 models.
  10. No need to apologize. If I had to guess, most bass fisherman of this era are turned off by that photo. It was a common sight decades ago. Stringing up a bunch of lunker bass is only trying to feed that guy's ego. Lastly, politics has NOTHING to do with this subject.
  11. I'm not even close to an expert but I bought a 6.3 reel specifically for cold water jerkbait fishing and I regret the purchase. I over thought it as I figured I would be ultra slow in really cold water. I wish it would pick up more line. I just end up spinning the handle a bunch. Just me but I'd rather have something faster.
  12. I'm not really a fish guy. The only fish I've had that I personally caught were from Canada. Those would have been walleye, pike, and yes, even smallmouth. I've also had some bluegills but caught from someone else. Had those as a kid and I remember loving it. Still had the fins on, crunchy like potato chips. If someone could teach me a good recipe, I wouldn't mind keeping some. But it wouldn't be bass, it would be like panfish. Eating a bass from crystal clear water in Canada seems a lot different than say from a lake that looks like pea soup the majority of the year. No thanks.
  13. Same. I started with 4 PVC tubes, 1 in each corner. Then added 2 additional tubes. Then added 2 more. Carry 8 rods. Pretty much maxed out. Normally use them all on an outing. If I could carry more I would. I can't even imagine how I would though.
  14. I bought a P5 OneTen Special. Love it. So much that I bought another. Great topwater rod. When it gets really cold I change lines and have a second jerkbait rod.
  15. Do I want the latest and greatest? Yes and no. Everything I'm currently buying is top of the line or close to it. So yes, I like the greatest. However, I'll still be fishing this gear 5, 10 years from now. So no, I don't necessarily need the latest. I like nice gear, but ideally I take very good care of it so it lasts a long time.
  16. My favorite piece of art that I display in my office. My uncle drew it after 9/11. He was too old to join the military again (Air Force, Vietnam) so he wanted to help some way. Sold copies and used the proceeds for care packages for soldiers. At the time my cousin was in the special forces chasing down bin Laden. I’m extremely proud of this piece of art. Means a lot for several different reasons.
  17. I had to do a quick Google search. I'm assuming Los Angeles County? I knew CA had some big bass but I didn't know it was THAT good until now. Holy cow!
  18. I beg to differ. I've spent countless hours studying the ways of Daniel Larusso and Mr. Miyagi. I might not be able to fend off six or seven Cobra Kai, but I can hold my own.
  19. I got my kid a ML St Croix Avid specifically for neds and it works perfect. Right at your budget.
  20. Really depends. Am I on a guided trip to Lake St Clair? Probably would, why not. Huge body of water that ain't no secret. Am I on some 300 acre lake here in Iowa that throws out the state record? Much different. The survival of the fish would be my largest concern, not my fame. I respect "my" fish too much.
  21. Now that's something I could get behind. Not the pistol grip though...
  22. @FishTank I appreciate the detailed response. If I had to guess, I caught the most fish last year on a swim jig with a 4" mayor on the back. Many of those like you were ripping in weeds. I also enjoy throwing a spinnerbait and am trying to get into chatterbaits more as everyone seems to love them. I'm not opposed of something like a NRX+, I just didn't know if the extra money for the sensitivity mattered much. I was also leaning towards a full cork handle for this setup and just noticed the NRX and GLX versions are split. I guess there's the "Mag Bass" version but no clue what those are. I think I'll pass on the Daemos for now. Based on your experience, I might want something that's a little more heavy duty. Once again, thank you very much for your thoughts!
