If love to get into making my own baits like jerkbaits and crankbaits, do you think designing a new bait and having it printing to use it as a guide would help you create or would it be kind of redundant for the process?

People these days smh... People have been catching fish with a stick and some line tied to the end of it with a worm. Its not the gear that catches fish, its the angler and their skills. Sure it helps to have a 400 size tranx to pull in a striper over a 20 dollar Wal-Mart rod and reel but I'm sure its fully capable of reeling in a fish just fine. Fish can't see what gear your using nor would they care.

Set up a camera facing the reel as you take it apart, clear vivid shots of the whole teardown. When you get in a step you don't remember, look back at your own video. That's what I did for my first teardown but didn't end up needing it.

They work amazing, all of my quantum reels have great drag systems, all work fantastic The bearing is ender the handle side plate, so if you look at the nut that holds your handle and star drag in place, its the thing holding the shaft that that nut screws onto in place (along with another ball bearing) but its right inside the side plate, you'll have to take the reel apart to get to it. Once you have your drag tightened up you shouldn't have any reverse play in the handle. If that's the case your fine, no need to open her up. If your interested I can Skype with you and walk you through the process. Whatever helps you buddy

My lews and quantum reels do that to when the drag is completely turned down where there in zero resistance.

Just watched a video going behind the scenes with berkley and they are using 3D printers to make some pieces. Anyone else try to make baits from a 3D printed before?

Go on YouTube and look up the reel test, he does a comparison between the 2 and its very insightful.

Big fan of lews as well, i have the BB1 Pro and the reel is idiot prof! i love the thing and my girlfriend pretty much claimed it as hers... Ugh

added some more oil and the noise has definitely gotten less noticeable, ill take, it is a brand new reel, havent fished it yet but i always lube up my new reels before the first fish. We will see if it goes away completely on the water tomorrow! Thanks buddy, cheers

just tried that, same thing but a much louder squeak now haha back to the grease

So i did a thorough cleaning of my energy baitcaster and part of that was the anti reverse bearing. Used degreaser and made sure to get all the old gunk out, reapplied new grease on sleeve and bearing but now it sounds like its rubbing or kind of a dry squeaky sound but it has a good amount of grease to the point where i think anymore would be to much. I tried turning the sleeve with my finger while its inside the bearing and you can hear the noise/squeak, what should i do next?

If they say the damage was your fault just take the discount and buy a new rod and tell them you still want your old rod back. Its still your rod after all so you can go and get it fixed.

Right handed all the way, I can fish both ways but if rather right. If I backlash with a LH I find it to awkward to hold tension on the line with my right hand and reel with my left, but with a right hand I can do whatever.

Currently have the 3000 size stradic fj (white and gold) got it brand new for 50 bucks canadian and the only thing I don't like is the handle knob, where can I get either the 2500 size knob or a knob that will fit? Will Shimano still stock that part? If so where can I find a parts brakedown as Shimano doesn't have it on their site to look up.
