Ordered the ALX ZOLO 7'1" Med/Hvy Deputy for $178.50 after the 15% off at TW. Totally forgot to add the $5 off coupon tho. Ahhh well. Hope this rod is as good as advertised. Have never held an ALX before.

From Z-Man's website. Rig weedless with a heavy wire 4/0 or 5/0 offset EWG style hook. So, it appears maybe it could be your rod setup. Or maybe try the 5/0/ I got a few packs of these (both sizes) but have yet to use them.

Good stuff, man. I remember years ago, I didn't wanna touch a plastic worm, or any sort of t-rigged plastics. Or even a jig for that matter. I was younger, and I just didn't have the patience. Finally one year I told myself I'm gonna force myself to fish both. And it opened up a whole new world. Not only did I start catching more (and bigger) bass, but it felt more rewarding to me when I did have success. Having to work them just right. Having to really pay attention to the feel, and watch the line like a hawk. To this day, it's probably my favorite technique (jig more than worm).

OK, thanks. And the swivel doesn't hinder it at all? Doesn't weigh the nose down?

Strangely, anytime I order something that's on back order at TW, they never ship it to me. I don't get billed either, so it's not that big of a deal I guess.

Protecting your head/neck is #1 priority. The fact that the hat makes you look like The Iron Sheik is just icing on the cake IMO!

You sure? Maybe now and then. But I just did a quick search and didn't find any "buy now" brand new ones at that price.

You can definitely get by with that. Personally I like 12 lb mono for topwater (not counting froggin).

Today I went to my local Cabela's, and they still had a handful of the ZX rods left (so I was able to get my frog rod!). But on their site it's gone. So maybe once they're gone from the stores, that's it?

Got this in the mail today. HIGHLY recommend it. It is very long compared to all the other gaiters I've tried. Also, because of the breathing holes, my sunglasses don't fog up, at all. That's with breathing through the nose and mouth. Very impressed.

I have a Cabela's gift card that I was gonna use on this exact rod. But as of just a few days ago, none of the ZX bass rods are on their site anymore. I wonder if they discontinued them.

Been looking for some better sunglasses, and came across Natives at a decent price. I know many here like Costa or Oakley, but has anybody tried these? If so, what models? I was looking at the Bigfork and Bolder I believe. Not sure what color lense to get. I read one review that said they ran pretty dark?

Here's what's odd. If you go to casting rods>Diawa, and you scroll down, you'll see a Zillion Frog rod, but no other Zillions. But if you click on that and scroll down, you'll see other Zillions. So I wonder if they're in stock or not.
