School tournament
Hi. I am fishing a tournament next week for school. Today we had about 4-7 inches of snow but not all of it stuck. The past week has been hovering in the 60’s with a few days of 70’s. The day of the tournament is calling for 62 degrees with some rain and the entire week is supposed to rain. The water conditions are stained-murkey and it doesn’t get deeper than 15 feet but mainly between 4-5 feet. It is a soft bottom with some weeds underwater. What kinda baits should I use? Thanks

First Higher end rod help!!
There’s always St Croix if you want high end. I have the legend tournement and the avid X. If you are looking for an all around rod, there’s a company called G-Rods that make rods out of graphene. I have one and love it, it’s extremely sensitive and worth every penny.

Shimano Metanium MGL
By the way, I ordered the Metanium yesterday. I would think that with this being a $400 reel that it shouldn’t have these problems. I just had it sent back and got a refund

Shimano Metanium MGL
Thank you! I just purchased the metanium MGL online about 20 minutes ago.

Shimano Metanium MGL
Alright thank you. I think I’m gonna order the Metanium from there. Only concern is what you said about the “main gear being brittle”, how long would it last if I don’t change the gear? I’ll be honest, I’m not the best at assembling things.

Shimano Metanium MGL
Thank you again everyone, my only concern is that they don’t have warranty’s on reels shipped to America? Is that true? I found it on this forum

Shimano Metanium MGL
Is that website to be trusted? I looked there and all of the prices are in Yen.

Shimano Metanium MGL
Good to see you again Stephan, Is it the Curado that has the Aluminium Gears? I changed my mind to now between the Metanium and Chronarch.
-
Shimano Metanium MGL
The chronarch is the other one I’m considering.

Shimano Metanium MGL
So in two days I went from looking at the Curado K to now seriously considering getting the Metanium. Is it worth the 400$ or should I pass?

New crankbait combo
Hello everyone, I am looking to get a crankbait rod and reel. So far I’m leaning towards the St Croix Premier cranking rod (7ft, moderate action, medium power), and then for my reel, I’m looking at the Lews Tournament MB , Lews BB1, or the Abu Garcia Revo SX. I am torn on the reels also trying to keep the reel and rod under $180. Any suggestions? tight lines patrick

Advice on Avid X Rod for Shimano Stradic Ci4+
I have a 6’6” avid x medium fast rod with my Stradic (3000) and it works like a dream. I use for just about everything from trout to pike to bass. If you want a combo that is reliable, I would pair these together. It works so well that friends of mine won’t put it down when they use it.

3/0 Skip Gap
Hello everyone, I purchased these hooks at a local fishing store and they were 75% off. They are gamakatsu 3/0 skip gap hooks, what would be a good use( other than skipping) for them? Tight lines Patrick

18 and life, you got it!
I’ve noticed one of the least talked about casting reels in my opinion is the Revo Premier Gen 4 . I bought it with a coupon and Christmas and have used it a lot with my G rods pro bass and it works perfect. I can cast far with it and the reel is very smooth. I never saw a review on it and when I tried it out at bps, I was amazed. I too have noticed that people don’t really talk about Abu anymore.

Looking for a good all-around spinning rod for lighter lures
I’ve used the president as well as the President Limited Edition which is very similar to the XT and they are both really good. I’d prefer the LE because in my opinion it is smoother as well as casts farther but also more expensive. Like I said the LE is almost exactly the same as the XT just a different color I believe.

Looking for a good all-around spinning rod for lighter lures
For those kinds of baits, I use a 6’6” fenwick Eagle. It’s not the most flashiest set up and by no means a high end rod but I got it for $60 and I’ve had it for 3 years and I’ve used it from throwing Blue Fox spinners for trout and pike to throwing Hula stickZ for bass and it’s held up a lot. With your budget you can easily get a much better rod but here’s a cheaper and reliable option.

Tips for early time pond bass
So it’s the end of February and I’m getting cabin fever and decided to hit up a couple of ponds this weekend. I’ve never fished this early before but I’m willing to give it a go. Any tips? The ponds aren’t the greatest around me but still hold decent fish.
