  1. Maybe I'm just feeble, but I use an Ugly Stick lite for spinners and cranks. Brought it to the CAST tourney and caught two fish with it. Ahh, to be able to upgrade... :-/
  2. LOL, what spawn? Water temp today was 41* :-? : Air temp was 25 this morning, the guides on my rods were frozen solid.
  3. True. Last weekend the Jon boat was frozen to the ground....after a few days in the 60's. Is it June yet? :-/
  4. I bought them in '96 and yes, they worked for me. What did I know 11 years ago I still have them and will bring them out occassionaly. The was a good thread about this not to long ago, try doing a search
  5. MMMMMMM My favorite cover! <<<<< See avatar I like any soft plastic T-rigged, especially tubes or worms. My best technique is to cast about 2-3 feet onto the pads, then pull the bait to the edge and let it drop. Then hang on
  6. NO! It's perfect! Leave it alone! ;D I checked out Reel Mechs site a while back, the rods look great. Now how can I hide one from my wife? :-?
  7. I started using snaps this season, as opposed to snap swivels. I only use them on hardbaits. So far, on a lipless crank like my Traps, and Cordell Super Spots, I haven't noticed any adverse affects. Once in a while I will notice the Cordells will run sideways, but not the Traps. I can't say for sure if ths is the snap, or the bait. I have caught a few fish already in the two weeks we have been out. So far so good I guess!
  8. We had a great time. We knew going in, that there would be some heavy hitters there. Our realistic goal was to catch one fish. We felt fortunate to have ended up with a 13" and a 14", and one that hit at the boat which I wasn't prepared for. It was well worth it to come out and help raise money for the kids. My partner Rick and I are both dad's, so it came from the heart. Thanx to Russ and Delainey for answering my barrage of questions through email and PM's. This was our first tournament of any kind, so we wanted to be prepared. It was great to meet everyone, we were both pretty beat so we took off after weigh in. I got home around 6pm, and proceeded to pass out ;D We need some swivel seats in that boat! Great job! Let's do it again next year! 8-)
  9. I like the Cordell Spot as well. I have a mixed box of Spots and Traps. Can't find any Strike King's local, might order a couple.
  10. Good heads up! For anyone interested, I did mine online last week. Quick and easy. https://www.ri.gov/dem/fishinglicense/
  11. Nice! That figures! ;D We went to Sand Dam just because it's close to my buddy Rick's house. Wanted to get some more time in at RWP but also wanted to fish some clear water too. It was kind of a last minute deal. 8-)
  12. Today we went out to a spot that we haven't fished before. We figured it was worth a shot, was supposed to be in the high 60's in the afternoon so my partner skipped work. We hit the water at 6:30am. The water temp was a balmy 44*, depth varied anywhere from 3-8 ft. We started out with some small jigs figuring we would take it slow at first, then after about two hours I broke out the box of Traps. My partner Rick drew first blood with a 1/2 ounce red craw Rat L Trap, then about an hour later as I was ripping my Neon Spot I was rewarded with a nice fish, just shy of 2lbs. (my only fish of the day) Later, Rick caught two deuces in a row on the same red Trap, so he decided to keep it! Looks like I gotta go buy him one now! ;D All in all it wasn't too bad of a day, I made about 400 casts and only caught one fish, but it was still better than staying home 8-) We saw a small herd of deer taking a drink at the edge of the lake, and we had a small otter checking us out from about 20 feet. Who needs work?
  13. Thanx all, I might put it away since it was given to me from my grandfather. I would be bummed if I lost it 8-)
  14. I have what I believe to be a vintage Poe's RC1. My grandfather gave this to me so long ago that I can't honestly remember when it was. It feels like the original cedar version. Does anyone know when they were made and what materials? I tried digging around on google. I will post a pic later. Thanx Matt
  15. Wierd. I went to the same store that he bought his, and they were 79.99. It's the orangey copper colored Capricorn. I might have to ask them why they cost so much here. Where are you located? Rhode Island and Southeast Mass.
  16. We were on the water at RWP for 7am this morning. We stayed 'til about 1pm after only catching one, just shy of 2lbs..... I caught it around 10am... Didn't look like anyone else was having much luck either, about 10 boats on the water today. We were the only crackers in a Jon

  18. Nope! : I was in the neighborhood today so I took a swing by.
  19. As a matter of fact, we are hittin' the water tomorrow. First outing of '07, hoping to at least catch something.
  20. Eagle Claw? I don't really have an explanation....
  21. [quote author=Bankbeater link=1174600986/0#17 date=1174648470. ] I don't know how many of these I will accomplish, since my wife has some different goals lined up for me.
  22. Glad you guys made it down there ok! The snow is gone here in Warwick, that means it's on like Donkey Kong. We're hittin RW this Saturday (24th) Lookin forward to seeing the pics and vids from Tejas
  23. Looks like crankbaits are a common theme this year!
  24. Same here. I'm having a dee dee deeeee moment...
