1. My partner just picked up a Capricorn at Dicks. Looks like they are a Dicks exclusive, since the Tierra was supposed to replace it. $79.99 from what he said.
2. He's been running wild lately!
3. Well, I've been absorbing as much info as I can possibly cram over the winter. I always thought I was an average fisherman, coming from about five generations of anglers. But there's always room for improvement! In trying to become a better bass fisherman, I outlined some goals for myself this year. 1: Learn how to fish a jig and pig I never learned how to use this versatile tool, because no one I fished with ever used one. I just bought a crap load of jigs in all sizes and colors. Termy's, Strike King bitsy's, Stanley finesse etc. I also grabbed up a bunch of different trailers. 2: Catch something on a crankbait I have always kind of considered myself as a soft plastic kind of guy. Especially since 90% of where we fish isn't crankbait friendly. (<<<<<< see avatar) 3: Use a carolina rig effectively Another technique I never learned how to fish. What are some goals the rest of you have? 8-)
4. Lots of good advice there! I have zero confidence in cranks, I can't remember the last time I caught a bass on one. This year it's on my list of goals to learn how!
5. I just bought a bunch of Tru Tungsten Ike's ball busters, can't wait to try 'em.
6. Welcome aboard Mike, I hope to make the trip in '08.
7. Welcome! I would think that being on the original spool for 10 years would make it awful springy! Throw it out!
8. I use a palomar 100% of the time. I end up straightening the hook before the knot fails...
9. Dude, it's a freakin BUBBLA!
10. HA! I laughed out loud when I saw the "bubbler" question! We had to ask to use the bubbler in elementary school. ;D Born and raised in Rhode Island, I guess y'all never had any coffee milk either! Bye the way I scored 47% (Yankee). Barely into the Yankee category. I have lived in Florida and I've spent alot of time down south so I guess I'm multi cultured
11. I think the biggest factor (other than size) in choosing a used boat (or a new one) is 'glass vs. aluminum. Personally, I like an aluminum boat. I have been looking at the 17' Tracker and Triton for maybe next year. Fiberglass boats are great, but the price is a detriment for some.
12. Congrats Logger! My son just turned 6 months. What an adjustment it has been! You will be tested like never before! It's hard at first, I won't lie to ya. They just take take take, and give nothing in return. But when my son looked at me and smiled for the first time I almost cried :'( He's finally sleeping through the night, and he just has such a great personality now that it's all worth it. Holler if you need advice!
13. Welcome to the forums... I'm partial to low-vis green http://cgi.ebay.com/Singing-Big-Mouth-Bass-Billy_W0QQitemZ120099019870QQcategoryZ19257QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
14. I just returned a brand new Shimano Stradic to the Dicks where I purchased it. I already have one Stradic, but the second one I bought was making some wierd noise right out of the box. When I went to the lodge to try another one, the kid said that "they all do that" and that he owns NINE Stradics. So I said "You really own NINE of these? :-? He said "Yeah, the noise you're hearing is just the air." Um, okay I said, "so the other brand new Stradic I have must be the only one that doesn't sound like....air...???" I don't understand does air sound like? So, as it turns out I returned the Stradic, and will probably not return there again. I'm almost 32 years old, and I don't like being punked by some 20 year old "Dicks" employee who own nine Stradics...Give me a break....Nine Stradics my arse.....
15. I recently bought two Stradics based on everyones help here on BR. I just ended up returning one of them because it felt sluggish right out of the box. Hard to explain, but it was like the gear set was too tight. It was also noisier than the other one, so much for Smooth, Silent and Strong :-/ I should note that these were bought at two different stores, but you would think that a Stradic is a Stradic, is a Stradic right :-? The other one is smooth as can be. I'm thinking about picking up a Daiwa Tierra as a spare...or maybe a Symetre
16. My Dad was my fishing partner since I was born, about 10 years ago he got congestive heart failure. Now, he spends most of the time on the couch because he can't walk to the other end of the house without being run down, and out of breath. Even with the pacemaker he just got installed. It was very hard for me to not be on the water with him. He just turned 60, and when I have a great day of fishing, I don't want to tell him because I know how bad he will feel about not being there. One day, you realize that you're on your own, and hopefully I will be there for my son now when he gets older...Luckily, I found a friend through drag racing who was into bass fishing as much as I was, so we teamed up.
17. My sister just flew US Air from Paris to Philly, then on to Boston. She was over 2 hrs late. She just called to tell me what a mob scene Logan is right now. :
18. That's insane! Look at what Jet Blue did too! Are these airlines for real or what???
19. Most likely it will come back on after the computer has gone through a drive cycle. You can also clear the codes by disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery for a few minutes... It could be that either the low speed or high speed fan has a bad relay. Make sure the temp is normal, keep an eye out for over heating...
20. Dude I hear ya, I have the golden handcuffs too. Thank god my wife is working or they would be foreclosing on the house. I told her the UPS thing will work out, we just need to be patient. You guys know the situation I'm in. Good old Big Brown, and thanx to the Teamsters for calling me back! > It sucks right now, day care is $200 a week, and for some reason unemployment just stopped sending me my checks! I finally got that straightened out, but man, things are tuff right now....I need some floaties or something to keep my head above water. :-/ :-/ :-/ PS, we will be at RWP on the 24th for some practice if anyone else is down...
21. Shimano advertises the Stradic as having 4 bearings, so I would say more is not always better. 8-)
22. Everyone have fun and be safe!!!!
23. It is a "long cast spool" 8-250, 10-200, 12-170 capacity.
24. LOL, that's what JUST happened to me! I placed a Cabela's order for some 6# ultra soft, and a bunch of other stuff came in the box with it! ;D ;D
25. What size are you looking for? I have an Emblem 5500H on my inshore rod. It has definitely been used, got some scrathes on it...
