Yesterday was strange. The bass were hitting the bait on the "lift" not on the "fall". I would raise the rod tip to move the bait and it would feel like weeds. Didn't have a chance to reel down and then set the hook. Still a great day regardless of the 6 that got away I'll catch them this weekend! 8-)

Great advice by everyone! I was having a similar problem yesterday. Early into our trip it seemed like the bass were just moving the bait, not trying to eat it. A few fish weren't hooked, they were just holding on it seems! ;D ;D ;D Heads UP!

Awesome! What a season it's been so far! It's been great to try new water and learn new techniques! Today Russ and I had doubles on...Russ tosses his fish back and flips his trick stick over the side of the boat, in order to adjust the trolling motor. He picks up his rod, and there's a fish on! You had to see it. It's like fishing with Mr. Miyagi ;D Pretty soon they'll be jumping in the boat!

Couldn't be happier with my BPS Extreme rods. I have the 7' M Woo Daves and 7' MH. These are the green rods. Plenty of action/power for me with the Medium rod, I have been using Zoom flukes and other plastics with much success. Been putting quite a few fish in the boat with both rods! The MH is being used for jigs right now, works killer. Plenty of backbone and sensitivity. I just bought them 3 weeks ago. I'm not sure what you mean by the "black" ones. All the BPS Extremes I have seen are green.... PS, welcome to Bass Resource. This will probably get moved to the proper forum "Rods, Reels, Lines etc"

Hot, that's what I have on both my rods. Very minimal twist with flouro, and zero with powerpro. FWIW I try to close the bail by hand all the time.

The same can be said for baitcasting and backlashes! I use spinning gear 100% of the time. I'm not anti baitcaster, just not my style.

Right now I'm experimenting with Megastrike, but I also keep a bottle of Anise Extract in my bag too. It's something my grandfather showed me way back in the day. He used to use 6" black plastic worms with a little bit of extract on them. Old School baby

Thanx Ronnie. I talked to Road Warrior and LBH and they both agreed that the spool was probably bad. I even cut off a few feet of line, but it's the same thing. Only thing I can think of is when th palomar is initially folded to go throught the eye of the hook, it must be kinking...time to order another spool!

I just bought two BPS Extremes and couldn't be happier. 7' medium heavy, and 7' heavy. My first time using 7' rods and I'm loving it. (both are 1 piece) PS, they fit in my F150 just fine, and LBH's Jetta

Every palomar knot that I've tied with my Yo Zuri ultra soft has snapped when I snug it down on the hook. I switched over to the improved clinch and haven't had a problem yet.

And the extra paycheck. The Cup drivers who race on Saturday are referred to as "Buschwhackers" It has become so bad, that if you watch a Busch race now, it's just like the Cup race. The top 15 drivers are all from Cup. Right now I'm LOVING the two BPS Extremes with Shimano Stradic 2500's One is a 7' Heavy and the other is a 7' Medium Heavy. Got em on sale, not dissapointed! For an off the shelf rod I have been impressed. If it puts fish in the boat, I'm lovin' it! ;D

I have two Stradic 2500's and the spools are printed. Not a sticker, and not engraved, just like a silkscreen. Hope that helps. Welcome to Bass Resource!

Well, another great day out on the water with Low Budget Hookerz in the red boat! Russ and I went out for a few hours today, before I had to pick up my son at daycare. We caught 17 bass and a few pickerel in 2 1/2 hours. I caught my first "senko" fish on an *** 5" ***. Can't say enough about how much i've learned from fishing with Russ. I always thought I was a decent fisherman, but Russ has turned me on to some new techniques and different approaches that I was hesitant to try in the past.

Uh Ohhhhh This is starting to get addicting! Strike King 1/2oz with yum trailer. This bass crushed the jig while I was hopping it. What a difference, 3 days ago it was 40 degrees, today it was 81!!!! :D :D I love it!
