Rethinking Kayak Tackle Storage
That’s annoying. I’d at least like to throw a 3700 or two below the seat

Rethinking Kayak Tackle Storage
Nice, glad I found something that could help at least! I am also looking at doing some storage upgrades for next year myself. Blackpak Pro (no lip) maybe some dry boxes to store soft plastics in that can go behind the seat. More for cleanliness and a quicker launch - fewer trips pulling various 3700s out of the truck.

Suggestions for a pedal kayak
It's expensive, but if you get the Yakima rack & roll it is light enough where you can use it as a hand cart to carry your kayaks to the lake as well - a very nice feature.

Suggestions for a pedal kayak
People seem to think they're unflappable - far from it. Once the water hits the top of the side logo, that's past the point of no return and they right over. I thought I was going to flip trying to stand up and walk onto the dock, but keep in mind I had an active gout attack and was very shaky as a result - but even so I never had that problem in my Bonafide. I'm not overly concerned about it, but it is simply a myth that they're unflippable - or even near the most stable on thee market. I kind of want one for the horizontal rod storage alone, but long time recurring quality control issues have me concerned. I'll probably get a Yakima topwater rod carrier to help save some launch time instead - at least I don't have many bridges to go under. Also good luck flipping one back over if you do flip it especially filled with water.

Rethinking Kayak Tackle Storage
There's a couple of products that might be nice for you: First, the YakGadget Quadbox. Stores tackle trays beneath your seat. May or may not wok with your kayak. Second, the YakGadget crates are angled in a way that might be easier for you to work with. Finally YakAttack recently came out with the TracPak, a rail mounted storage box which might make things easier for you.

Do you label your jig storage?
I do the same. If I put them back in the wrong spot I can tell by comparing one to another what's what eventually.

1/4 oz Jig Rod
I use the 7’ Tatula Elite Brent Ehrler M-MH/XF “finesse” rod for finesse jigs and t-rigs. It has a enough power to be considered a MH but casts lighter lures wonderfully. One of my kids has the St Croix Mojo Bass 7’1” M/F plastics rod and the other has a Dobyns Sierra 703C and those work well too

What line would you use?
I would go with 50# Daiwa J-Samurai Grand or 65# Powerpro Maxcuatro 16# Daiwa J-Fluoro Samurai - use some backing and through on about 80 yards. It's a real well handling line at a solid price. I would go with 15# Berkley Big Game or 14# Sufix Siege since you plan on throwing topwaters.

Would like your opinion.
Yeah, at the end of the day it works if you know what reel to pair it to.

Black Friday sales on YakAttack products?
Has anyone found anyone who would offer a decent Black Friday discount on YakAttack products? Maybe YakAttack directly? I have a few things to buy for my new kayaks for next year so I could take advantage of some deals.

Bass behavior on warm fall days
I’d be willing to bet that the rain and winds earlier had an effect. Still surprised I got nothing after it cleared up bit who knows maybe the bass moved away from the weedline finally. That’s what I usually do as well. In my case some rain and wind came through when it was still warm but nothing after it cleared up. Still a beautiful almost November day and fun trying.

What does it mean when your mono backing breaks?
It probably means it’s time for new backing line. If you leave your reel in the cold or heat, it will get damaged over time. My reels often stay on my porch in the winter but I get a few seasons from backing. When I replace the braid after usually three seasons, I replace the backing as well. 8lb Big Game or 10lb Trilene XL generally works well for spinning reels too.

Welcome to St Croix. G Loomis and other brands also commonly run tip heavy. It works for me. I got a deal on BG when I bought it ($40) and I knew it was tip heavy so it worked out

Bass behavior on warm fall days
Curious, do bass tend to be less active during a warm fall day? I was talking with someone who is convinced of this after mentioning I got skunked yesterday after getting a few good ones a couple weeks ago. Not really something I ever really know much about so I’m wondering what everyone thoughts on this is

A lot of that depends on the rod’s make and model more than length. For example l have a 6’9” rod that is very light and as a result tip heavy - my 8oz Daiwa BG balances that rod out well. Then I have a 7’1” that is a little heavier and much better balanced and balances with my 5.8oz Tatula LT reel just fine.

Where have I been? (health problems)
Next year we will have to plan something for sure. This year was a **** show. I will have new pedal kayaks for next year!

Lack of sleep.
I feel you. Before recent health events, I would go through periods in which I would wake up at 3-4am randomly and be exhausted all day and the same would happen the next day and so forth. Then I had this autoimmune disease attacking my kidneys and I was always tired all the time. Now on my medication, I can't fall asleep at night and I wake up at 3am everyday. Until yesterday I felt pretty awake.

The rod length doesn't really matter so much, it's about the line. Daiwa's spools run big. If you run 10-15# braid or 6-8# mono/flurocarbon, the 2000 is all you need. If you're running 10# flurocarbon, perhaps the 3000 would be a better fit.

Florocarbon line test
Interesting. I know that I like the Daiwa J-Fluoro Samurai’s handling the best and if I buy late season it’s no more than $23/spool shipped so it’s been a win win for me.

Did I do OK?
Great price! It should serve you well.

I would look at a discounted older generation Tatula Lt if it was me. They’re cheaper due to being discounted, lighter than the MQ (my 2000 is crazy light) and have an anti-reverse switch. When I got mine, it was so light I thought they sent me a box with just a manual.

2 MH casting rods recommendation
The Sierra typically has a softer tip than other Dobyns lines which makes it great for moving baits. You can still fish soft plastics on them but they don’t have the ideal tip for jigs. The Kaden has more tip than other Dobyns lines making them a better choice for jigs and TRigs. I think both are generally Dobyns overall best value lines too, a worthy step up from the Fury and not too inferior to the Champion XP. Also I would wait for Tackle Warehouse’s Black Friday sales if you can. @ohhey I should mention my kid has a last generation (purple) Mojo Bass Jig n bait rod that we replaced with the Marshall that I’m sure he’d sell to you for a good price if you’re interested. Not broken barely a scratch on it. He has the spinnerbait rod and the Marshall and Full Contact Finesse so he doesn’t really use it.

Trailer Hook VS Just Using Longer Hook
This is true as well. But my point is if I have a blade that extends past the hook, I'll start out with the trailer hook. If they're roughly even, chances are I'll be okay without one, although there are always times you may find they're not getting hooked and you want to add one.
-
How would you fish these conditions?
1/2oz spinnerbait and soft plastics, jigs and ned rigs have been my best producers in a similar sounding area. Sometimes I get a few on crankbaits too.

Old Town Autopilot Question.
It's a joke, take on an old joke. "I can stand and fish on the kayak while trolling? That's great, I haven't been able to stand and fish for years!"
