Outboard Mounting Height/Low Water Pressure
running on muffs wouldn't ruin the impeller but if you are running it above idle on muffs then you can risk motor damage from lack of water flow. Not changing the impeller as part of you regular maintenance can cause it to fail. If the previous owner is suggesting that you cooked an impeller running it on muffs in your driveway then there may be more to the story as to why it was re-manufactured.

Outboard Mounting Height/Low Water Pressure
You shouldn’t be getting any type of rooster tail with the motor fully trimmed down. The anti cavitation plate sounds like it is set correctly. Your motor should be straight up and down during your break in running.

jon boat deck build - aluminum supports question
Any weight that raises the center of gravity will make the boat less stable. If you add a deck and stand on it, you are raising the center of gravity by a lot. Sometimes this isn't too big of an issue but others it can make the boat almost unusable. As a quick test, launch the boat and stand on all of the bench seats (one at a time) and move around side to side to see how your boat reacts. If you put a deck on it, chances are you will be even higher than that making the boat that much more tippy.

Lowrance Hook2
Are you looking at the screen through sunglasses? I’ve had a pair that made the screen unreadable, didn’t use them in the driveway but did when on the water.

Good worm?
Do the new worms really have no scent? I’m working on my last 100ct bag from 20 years ago and it still has the awesome banana scent

This, almost all the time. That granola bar slides down to the bottom of the bag and I forget it’s in there until I unpack at home

Oh man, I missed this. I have a credit with them and was looking at a terrova, was going to cover the balance with my stimulus check and travel expense check, at 25% off I could have gotten a smoking deal on a Garmin tm

Hook color
Fish bite spinnerbaits with a huge wire in front and Alabama rigs with a massive wire frame, hook color doesn’t matter if you are presenting the bait the way they want

FINALLY!!! Need help on where
Between the unrelenting winds, cold wether, and my wife’s weekend work schedule, I have yet to get out this year. This weekend is it, nice weather gentle breeze, I’M GOING FISHING. Now for the fun part, where to go? I have 2 places that I have a fairly good idea of what the pond is like and have reports from friends about water temps. I can only access both with a canoe, there are no public ramps to put a boat in. I fish these ponds regularly but never this early in the season. Numbers and sizes are about equal in both ponds when I fish during the late spring, summer and fall. Pond 1 is a 13 acre pond at the start of a river system and is currently flooding into the thicket/heavy brush around the perimeter. Water levels are up about 2-3 feet above the traditional bank line. Rain is forecast for tonight and tomorrow so I expect it to get a bit higher but not much. Water temps are 50ish and Fish and Game recently stocked the river above and below the pond with trout. Pond 2 is a 50 acre body of water that is still in its winter drawdown but is slowly filling, currently it is about 2 feet below full pool. Water temps are 52ish. This is a pond i grew up on fishing and know where all the stumps, trees, and sandy banks are. Where would you go and how would you approach it?

Garmin Striker 4 Plus -VS- Striker 4CV
It all depends on what transducer comes with it, the new gt transducers use a down element so it has true down view. If the unit was packaged in the last year, you’ll get a gt transducer

Trailer winch
Spend the money and get a Fulton sized appropriately for your boat.

Battery Configuration? (HDS 12, Ghost in 24V mode, and outboard motor)
You probably already know this but for the TM you want deep cycle batteries and for the cranking battery you want a battery that has enough CCA/MCA to power the starter. Some use a dual purpose battery for this because of the drain that lots of electronics and accessories can put on the starting battery. My setup is 2 group 27 deep cycle for the TM and a group 24 for cranking. I also carry a jump pack onboard because I know one of these days the cranking will not have the juice to turn over the motor at the end of a long day.

Battery Configuration? (HDS 12, Ghost in 24V mode, and outboard motor)
A three bank charger is for 3 12v batteries. This will handle your 2 TM batteries and your cranking battery. Each bank is wired independently to one battery. As for battery brand, I’ve heard good things about the Duracell AGMs from Sams Club but I haven’t tried them yet, my original discount purchased AC Delco are still going strong.

Fish finder advice
The Garmin echomap plus 43cv has all that as well. I am not sure but I believe the base map built in th to hook unit does not include depth mapping and a card is needed. The Garmin comes preloaded with a huge inventory of lakes already mapped. I realize it’s going to be difficult to get into a store to play with the units due to the situation in the country right now but interacting with the menus will definitely help you figure out which unit fits you.

First Boat Learning Curve.....Steep
A pre-launch checklist that you use and stick to will help greatly. Things like unhooking the straps, putting in the plug, turning on the batteries, etc. will all seem silly to have to put on a list but the embarrassment when you need to pull the rig out because you forgot the straps on and can’t leave the trailer or the boat slowly sinking at the dock as you park the tow vehicle is something most don’t enjoy. Don’t rush it. As to the boat handling, learning how to dock with the wind, against the wind, with current and against current are all things you should work on and be comfortable with. Like AJ said, power won’t help if you don’t know the boats response to your inputs. I can’t help with the tm handling, I use a tiller model.

Anyone Have Any Luck In Southern Nh Yet? (4/6/12)
Slow and deep right now, water temps aren’t much above 45. In the next few weeks you should start to see fish coming into transition zones for the prespawn period. Think points and drops next to flats where they can move up to feed and retreat to deeper water. When you start seeing bait in the shallows the bass are right behind.

Robinson pond in Hudson? I’ve never caught a smallmouth there. The largemouth fishing is ok but the milfoil really choked that place out in the past and the fishing declined from when I fished it as a kid 20 years or so ago.

Garmin EchoMap Plus Networking
I have a 93plus unit running the CV transducer and it is awesome. The menus are intuitive and the maps are great for not having to buy a chip. The contour mapping is great for the areas that don't have maps or you want more detail. I can't speak for image quality between brands as my previous FF was an Lowrance x-4 and it was a budget model for its previous owner when I got it 6 years ago, but the images I've gotten on screen definitely help me distinguish bottom types and locate the things I thought I was feeling with my baits.
