gas for heating / cooking / advantage ?
We use oil to heat our home. Oil is used for heat only and our yearly costs are low. Everything else in the house is electric, the hot water heater, the stove/oven, the clothes dryer, etc. Using oil for heat is great and with the newer high efficiency burners the costs are comparative to our neighbors that use gas (propane, no NG in our area). Their home is also gas for heating only with everything else being electric. We have a neighbor across the street that uses gas for heat, hot water, cooking, dryer, etc. The gas company is at their house monthly filling the tank. When we compared costs recently their gas bill was way more than our oil bill. When we added in electricity costs for a year, they had significant savings. Knowing this, I would look for a house with gas in the future.

Not a giant but it is my first bass of the year. Caught it with an Arkie sexy tail shad with an ultralight while crappie fishing on my way home from work.

Need to get a new pontoon battery, need help
Unless the charging system on the motor is made for AGM I would just stick with a flooded battery like you have.

New Hampshire Beginner
Cast it towards something. Rocks, weeds, fallen trees, etc. will all increase your chances of hooking up with a fish. When fishing from shore, I catch more fish when casting parallel to the bank then when casting out towards the middle of a pond. Don't get discouraged yet. The water is still cold around our area. Some fish are being caught but the numbers will begin increasing soon. In Manchester, try Pine Island Park off of Brown Ave by the airport. Veterans Park Naticook Lake is in Merrimack. Mine Falls Park in Nashua has good shore fishing too.

Help me load my boat on the trailer...
@Glenn has a great video on backing a trailer in. https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/backing-a-trailer.html

Help me load my boat on the trailer...
You might have the trailer backed in too deep. You need the bow to be on the bunks and the stern to be able to dip a little. If the trailer is in too deep, the bow never rises enough to make the alignment work. Make a mental note when you launch as to how deep you are when the stern starts to float off the trailer. This or slightly shallower is the depth you want to be at when loading. Dunk the bunks to wet them and make it easier to slide the boat on and pull back up to the depth you were when launching.

Explain to me different hook sizes
These are gamagatsu off set round bend hooks. I measured them with a set of calipers. Measurements are diameter of wire, off set, and shank to point gap.

Explain to me different hook sizes
In the same line of hooks by manufacturer, the larger the x/0 number the larger the hook. This means the shank length, the offset, the gap, and even the wire gauge. When I get home tonight I can post up a picture of 1/0-4/0 of the same type from the same manufacturer. The hook size you use is really a personal preference. I try to use a hook that goes back into the plastic at a spot that I figure is correct. I wouldn't use a 4/0 on a 4" worm because the length of the hook would put it too far back along the bait. I wouldn't use a 1/0 in an 8" worm because the hook point would be too close to the nose.

Fish Identification Florida
I'm no expert on FL fishes but I can see why BASS302 would guess it as a spotted hake. My first thought when I saw the picture was that, assuming it was saltwater, it looked an awful lot like a cusk that we catch in the ocean bottom fishing off shore in New England. A quick search told me cusk don't inhabit the FL waters so that was out. I can see it as a hake due to the appearance of the top fin being broken into 2 pieces and the apparent lack of barbels on the top of the nose. This pic is from Delaware's DFW page and it looks a lot like the OPs picture

Anyone Have Any Luck In Southern Nh Yet? (4/6/12)
MODIS. It starts out really wide showing most of the country but you can zoom in quite a bit. I opened this on my PC so I can zoom waaaaay in as needed. I also change the default settings to 'False Color' at the top so it's easier to see ice vs open water. http://ge.ssec.wisc.edu/modis-today/

When to use an offset RB worm hook?
I use round bend hooks for almost all my worms when fishing them on a texas or c-rig. For anything that is thick, which has been described on here multiple times as more than half of the gap from point to shank, I use an EWG or straight shank. I only use Gamakatsu hooks as well but have some trokars to try out this year.

Transom Saver for Small Bass Boat Motor?
I tow mine with the motor down but I have enough clearance to raise the jackstand all the way up and not have the skeg touch. You could always put the pin in a higher hole for some added clearance. Your motor doesn't weigh all that much, I wouldn't be concerned with the need for a transom saver.

I'd guess everything south east of concord is. All my ponds in the Manchester area are open and have been for about 10 days or so

Not from this pond, but this is close to the size golden shiners you will find in there. Use the bobber and worm for scale.

hooking up the boat trailer
This happened to me when I had somebody else "grease the ball". I only realized how much grease was used on the ball the previous time when I put my finger into the coupler to push it back. There was so much grease stuck in and around the coupler jaw it wouldn't move back enough to get the coupler onto the ball. I cleaned it out and it seems to be ok now. I have also corrected my fishing buddy on how to LIGHTLY grease a trailer ball.

6lb Bass in a 0.01 Acre Urban Pond
This particular pond is going to have bluegill, perch, a small population of golden shiners and craws as forage plus whatever terrestrials might happen into it. The larger fish I have seen caught from it came on live bait. Illegal as it is, I saw a 4-5" bluegill that was live lined under a cork produced one right around 5lbs from the lily pad field near the splash pad area in ~2005ish

6lb Bass in a 0.01 Acre Urban Pond
How were you both able to be fishing 500 sf of pond at the same time if he was in a kayak. Are you sure of your size estimate. Was this Sandy Pond in Nashua because it's more like 500 x 500, and yes there are a few giants in there.

Will grubs from same maker melt or bleed when stored together?
I haven't used kalin's but on the baits I do have, the dyes will move between them if they are in contact. I've found red to be the most mobile of colors.
