  1. Echomap has maps, striker does not but you can make your own using quickdraw
  2. I would be upset seeing the ad and in store display. The only thing that would make me think both are wrong would be that they list the sku # on both and it matches the g2 version
  3. If that Garmin 741xs is included in your base price and includes a transducer, I wouldn't change it out. If you need to outfit the boat by adding a graph, any make/model can be done if you are open to mounting using a RAM mount
  4. a piece of pool noodle sliced lengthwise will slip over the lip of the bucket and make it so the "groove" is more comfortable
  5. Turning on the unit while connected to GPS should locate you on the screen. Use the + and - keys to zoom in and out. Typical default is North up on the charts. Navigate to your lake with the directional pad following the route you would use to get there driving.
  6. There is so much truth to this with almost every add on. Looking to get a TM, try this and see what you think. Want to change props, give this a shot and see how it works for you. If only it were that simple/easy.
  7. I've been using Carhartt Men's Shoreline Bib Overalls for a while and really like them. I use them all year long. The full length leg zippers make on/off easy and the zipper fly is a huge plus in my book. For a jacket, I use an older Gill offshore sailing jacket with adjustments everywhere and cuffs on the arms and waist. I picked it up on sale for like $300 about 15 years ago. It is a tad warm in the summer but has some vents to help.
  8. Do you have confidence that the hooks won't bend out or break? I'm not talking every day fishing, I'm talking your new PB is hooked up, are you worried? If I had any doubts I'd change the hooks and with any type of rust I'd have doubts.
  9. Is it on a 2 way switch? One way is rear/anchor, the other is front and rear navigational
  10. There is an active "Garmin issues/interpretation" page on another forum. Maybe you can try asking them. I've found that for fishing related stuff here is best but for bass boat related stuff there is more info available there. You might get an answer there faster as more guys on that forum seem to be running livescope.
  11. Used kayaks from craigslist etc are going to be the easiest to afford. Sit on top does not always mean that you will be able to stand. The length and width will have more to due with stability than sit on top or sit in. The cheapest (purchase) way to car top a kayak would be something like this https://www.walmart.com/ip/Propel-Paddle-Gear-Universal-Kayak-Car-Top-Carrier-Kit/49398708?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&adid=22222222227038615324&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=80435129329&wl4=pla-177679093489&wl5=9002285&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=online&wl12=49398708&wl13=&veh=sem&gclid=CjwKCAiAqt7jBRAcEiwAof2uK_SRWk9pWubc6HrbRetDigAjRNhgf7-NZKGXAGBF_0BJnGuDF9w1RRoC9yYQAvD_BwE
  12. Loom bands work as well and come in a variety of colors. Packs of 100 for $1.99 at the craft store
  13. They also recommend adding a second transducer for thru hull style systems if the rise of the hull from the keel to mounting location is over 5 degrees which would match the 86 degree coverage picture
  14. Per Garmin's transducer guide for a GT52HW-TM the beam angles are: Trad/CHIRP 24-16 ClearVü/SideVü 2.0x50@455 1.0x30@800 And in their Side Vu description there is this image
  15. If you are getting the same interference on a different unit then my bet is it being something to do with the wiring. A ground being loose would be my first suspect assuming the graph is not connected to the TM batteries. If it is connected to either of the TM batteries then moving it to the starting battery should be the first thing done.
  16. @Delaware Valley Tackle is a site sponsor. Basic cleaning services start at $18 + shipping and deep cleaning at $26.95 + shipping, per their site. Your quoted price of 25-30 isn't that far off.
  17. My father said nobody that couldn't stand and urinate over the side wasn't allowed to fish off his boat. It was his way of keeping it a guys only trip. I got my wife a "she wee" as a joke gift. It gets packed in her bag before we go out on a fishing trip and she has become quite good at using it, much to his disappointment.
  18. You have 2 units? Can you plug the other unit in to the transducer? Does the screen show the same interference? How is your new TM wired into your existing system? Are the graphs wired directly to the battery and grounded back to it as well? There are guys with all sorts of solutions on this site but they may need a bit more information on your setup to help.
  19. Kind of off topic, but here in NH, fishing after having a limit of stripers is a violation and comes with a fine and loss of the fish you have
  20. This is how I do it too around anything besides grass and pads. In the grass & pads I will just go with straight braid to eliminate additional snag points.
  21. Garmin claims 18W of power consumption for the 93sv. 18W/12V=1.5A. I would think that with 20ah you should be able to run this unit for 8hours
  22. Youtube can be your friend for all the little things that make a pinewood derby car run faster. The things I remember from helping out my nephew with his car are the axles being polished smooth, setting the car up to run slightly against the rail rather than bumping back and forth on its way down the track, and running on 3 wheels by setting an axle pin slightly higher than the 3 others.
  23. The Garmin echomap you listed is preloaded with saltwater maps. If you plan on fishing freshwater you will need the 53cv. I am not sure how important on screen maps are to your fishing style but it is my understanding that if you want quality mapping on the Humminbird you would need to purchase the Navionics or Lakemaster cards. The Garmin unit (53cv) comes with Lakevu charts preoaded
  24. I'm sure you already know this but when you turn the TM the sidevu image is not truly to the side anymore, it will be to the side of the plane that the trolling motor is in. Just something to remember when you are looking for where that brush pile you see out 20' to the left on the screen actually is.
  25. Most older motors can run fine off AGM. I read on another forum that it's the charging that the motor does that can be an issue. The charging is not "smooth" and can damage the battery. The older motors can't charge the agm properly and that is why standard batteries are recommended.
