I would suggest buying a few different ones to see which brand you like for your particular circumstances. Personally I don't like the Cavitron but a lot of guys love them. Booyah is my favorite right now (with the clacker cut off).

I have them on a few reels. I just like the way they look. They don't make any difference otherwise.

I love topwater (who doesn't) but barely run poppers. Here is my general outline... Water is dead calm - Spook, popper, floating prop bait. Anything you can stop and let is sit before continuing the retrieve. Think subtle. Chop or current - buzzbait or walking baits with a continuous retrieve or at least less stops. Basically the noisier the water the noisier I make the bait. The calmer the water the calmer I make the bait. Frogs and heavy cover are in their own category. However I will walk frogs up the sides of docks regardless of conditions.

One of my favorite spots is a mile from my house. I can leave home and have the kayak in the water in 10 minutes. Usually though I don't drive more than 45 minutes. There are a number of small lakes and a few large ones within 30 miles. Once a summer we camp in the Adirondacks and even then it's only an hour and a half drive.

I usually find the seem where lily pads meet milfoil. Every lake is different in regards to types vegetation but that is a pretty common one. Otherwise you're just looking for anything different. A small opening, a breakup in the weeds, or some type of cover (rock or log) protruding.

The action definitely matters. To the degree between each brand may be negligible. Personal preference, I like dingers and shim e sticks. Tie a pencil on wacky rigged and see what happens.

Some of my earliest memories are fishing with my father. Couldn't have been older than four at the time. I remember when the bite was slow, we would walk the shore flipping rocks to find crayfish. Fingers crossed my daughter will enjoy fishing with me when she is old enough.

There has been a Power Grub rolling around in the truck bed for years now. It never manages to get sprayed out at the wash.

When driving, If we pass anybody of water I start breaking it down. "Whoa, rivers up today. Bet they got lock 2 open. You see how the water is pooling up on the east bank behind those boulders? Nice south wind. I could get the Kayak right up there and run squarebills all day!" Then I get "Will you watch the road and stop looking at the water!" It's been since thanksgiving since I have fished. Only a few more weeks to go...

For me 7ft is perfect for casting rods. I like 6'6 for spinning. Anything longer than 7'3 I don't like as I am fishing from a kayak and it's especially hard to to use walking baits in a seated position with a long rod.

Yep. Have been for around 7 years. I plan to "life up" at some point. When I brought my daughter to the Doctor for the first time they had a form that asked if there were firearms in the house. Told my wife to leave it blank, none of their business. When we were leaving I realized we both had NRA hoodies on. LOL

I haven't fished since just after Thanksgiving! But once all the ice goes away up here I get out every chance I can. Twice a week I go out on the kayak to various lakes and rivers. Throughout the week I usually fish for an hour before work (4-5am) and sometimes after if I get out early enough so the wife doesn't notice, at random ponds.

When I am on lakes going after largemouth, it varies depending on visibility. Usually shad or green/white. For smallies on the rivers, blk/chart almost always. In my experience smallmouth like the bright obnoxious colored cranks regardless of the conditions.

Well the "season" starts for me usually mid April. As soon as the water is safe enough (especially the rivers) I head out. I'm in about $200 already. Got a new reel and a few new topwaters. Still need a heavy action rod for the reel, line for three of my setups and a bunch of new lures. Basically another $300 is what I'm expecting to spend, so call it $500 all day. This isn't a normal year though. I just wanted a new frog rod/reel

Quite a few beaver dens around here. I don't usually target them specifically because I hate dealing with angry beavers. Having a beaver follow your kayak around smacking its tail is really annoying so I usually keep my distance. Beaver dams however, I like to throw squarebills parallel with.

The two things I really enjoy are fishing and Powerlifting. I have noticed that when you want advice with either it really is the same thing. 1.You can almost always learn more from someone who has struggled. 2.Everything is situational and condition specific. 3.Keep it simple. 4.What works for someone else may not always work for you. Do what works for you. 5.Time practicing your craft is essential to success.

It will be fine except deep cranking. I like fast reels for everything so I'm biased.

I hate spinnerbaits, so I would always prefer a crankbait.

Hunting helps man. Grab a gun and go harvest some organic meat. I waterfowl until January. Then small game a few times until March. Then spring snow goose mid march. Then fishing season begins. The whole time I would much rather be fishing, but it helps.

Whatever works. Last year I fished a lake just after spawn. A few hold outs on beds, but for the most part spawn was done. Windy, choppy water for two straight days and they absolutely murdered Ribbit toads. Took us a while to figure it out, but the "sluggish post spawn bass" were willing to chase toads. This is a little out of the ordinary but it proves my point. You may think you have to get the finesse worms and light wire jigs out, but that's not always the case.
