I’ll fish with Bob but John can get the hell out of my boat.- Caught a new pb... take a guess
- Caught a new pb... take a guess
My guess is that if you really wanted to know the weight you would either carry a scale or take good pics of the length/width/girth using a tape measure or known object for reference. This could be a 4 to 6 pound fish and you won’t ever know for sure. But regardless of weight this is a big, healthy, very beautiful fish! I would love to catch her. Congratulations! ??- Fixing leaking rivets
I bought a leaky jon, sanded the hull, and sealed every single rivet (several leaking rivets and one rivet that was completely missing) with this: https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/company-us/all-3m-products/~/3M-Marine-Adhesive-Sealant-5200/?N=5002385+3293241623&rt=rud I painted it and used it for two seasons and it never leaked a single drop. I sold it for twice what I paid for it.- Longest skunk streak?
I don't keep exact stats on this but I'm going to say from age 35 to age 42. Or at least that's what it felt like.- Easiest way to launch and trailer boat alone?
I am being completely serious when I say I am nearly tempted to find out if my boat will float my trailer. I’m just too competitive!- Post a photo a day!
Hey, I'm 51. I'm not sure that I'd be much of a stud if I got MYSELF a woman twice my age...- The latest sale thread
All 3 of my local Walmart’s are doing fishing clearance. I bought six Zman Original Chatterbaits for $1.05 each. Six RattLTraps for $2.45 each. Four Berkeley Shad Raps for $2.65 each. You get the idea. I ended up with two full bags of hard baits for about $60.- Winning a gift card!
Right now I would buy $100 worth of lipless crankbaits because I'm snagging/losing about two per trip. ?- Plummeting water temps in summer
But I want to be the world’s greatest fish psychic.- Which weather would you choose
Okay again, anywhere within 100 miles of me a year with 73 bass is a good year. And that's fishing every week. Wow. I need to travel.- Plummeting water temps in summer
Yes it's another water temp question, but things have been so screwy here that I have to ask. I am familiar with swinging water temps in spring and fall but I've not fished through what is going on now. If you saw my last post in the catch thread I was exclaiming about water surface temps being above 90 in the afternoon. That's pretty high here. I usually don't see anything above 87 or 88. Well now we have had four days of on/off chilly rain and air temps have gone from highs of 88 to highs of 72. I just checked water data online and the surface temps have dropped 4-6 degrees in the past four to five days. I have to assume that the water is high and muddy from the influx also. I've never seen a drastic drop like this in our hottest time of year. This is usually drought. I'm going out tomorrow and my gut is telling me this is a good thing and shallow, loud moving baits may be the deal. Am I way off? Am I more likely looking at something more like a lake turnover? I think the plague is now affecting the weather. Any thoughts are appreciated. UPDATE: One of the two lakes I fish most frequently has turned over on the shallower north end. Fish kill. That sucks.- Latest Catch Pics Thread
Oh bleh.- Latest Catch Pics Thread
Water temp was 91 degrees by the time I got off the water today! 90-flippin’-1 degrees!!! All the fish I got today were already broiled...- Fishing Wood Cover
Peg small weight on a T-rig with any plastic you like on a worm hook or EWG. If you like braid, put a leader on it so you can break off easier. Start throwing it into the tightest, messiest, gnarliest tangles of brush/wood/leaves/branches that you find in a foot of water (or deeper). You will snag and you will break off. You will also catch fish. Once you start catching fish you will find that the hooks/plastics you lose to snags are WELL worth it for the fish you catch.- Which weather would you choose
Please take a look at this forecast. I am totally open to fishing either Thursday or Friday from about 5am to 1pm. I'm leaning toward Thursday because the the barometer is lower and it's closest to the initial drop of the barometer. I am fishing a lake that has absolutely no shelter so I'm likely to get wet but I feel like getting out as close to the beginning drop of the barometer is going to be best, plus the temp is dropping and it shouldn't have any effect on the fish in the first day of the drop but it could by Friday. The black line is the barometer and the blue line with the arrows is the wind speed. Would you choose one day over the other? If so, why? Thanks Update: I would also prefer to fish before the bottom drops out but it’s not possible. Also, I just talked with a guy much more experienced on the lake I was headed to and he told me NOT to go to that lake on Thursday. So I will either pick a different lake for Thursday or go on Friday- When to move on?
Not in central Illiinois you didn't....LOL.- When to move on?
^^^this^^^ In my lakes this is also true. If I catch a 1 to 2.5 pound bass I can guarantee there are more in the same area. If I catch a 3-4 pounder I might find some smaller bass in the same area or I might not. If I catch anything over 5lbs I might as well move on. The big mamas are loners.- Picking an aluminum bass boat
I have a 2016 Ranger RT188 with a 115 Merc 4-stroke. I cannot imagine needing anything else for what I fish (no “big” water). There is nothing I would change about it other than on windy days I wish it was as heavy as fiberglass. I plan to try to mitigate that this winter by installing a Garmin Force or MK Ultrex. Other than fighting the wind it is perfect. Huge deck that is so stable it’s like standing on a dock.- Daiwa Fuego casting reel
The best price is almost always eBay. I have purchased Fuegos and Tatulas from TriceTackle and Alpha2Omega on eBay with excellent results.- Yellow Line
X2 for Sufix 832.- Handheld digital scale for catch and release?
10-4- Handheld digital scale for catch and release?
A-Jay, I've read two reviews that suggest that this scale is extremely susceptible to damage from water. One reviewer said that a very light rain (one that didn't even make him put his phone away) permanently damaged the scale. Has yours gotten wet at all or anything to offer on this?- Does TW still take a while to get order?
I placed an order two days ago and received a email indicating that it will ship on August 4th. - Lure color experience
