Potential Onboard Charger Problem
Welcome to Bassresource. This could be a bad battery or a bad charger. You need to test both with a meter to find the real answer. There are people on here that could provide you with more info if you included the make/model of your on-board charger.

What To Do If I Catch A Record Breaking Bass?
As far as lake records go, around here the only "official" lake records that exist are from tournaments. If you aren't fishing in a tournament and weighing the fish in then no one is going to consider your fish a "lake record". That's reasonable when you think about it. It would be difficult to have someone with a proven scale available at all times to verify a catch for every single lake. But if you catch a monster word will get around. You have no idea how closely other fisherman are watching you when you fish. I've fished had a total stranger approach me on a Friday at the ramp and ask me questions about how I did so well on that lake 6 days ago when I was alone in my boat and thought I had most of the lake to myself. So they must have also seen me nearly fall in the water while retrieving my lure, blow my rod sleeve out of my boat while up on plane, relieve myself 19 times...

Another new boat advice thread....
It's all about what you want to spend now and what you want to spend later. A 12v will move your boat around but will offer little assistance in wind. Once you get some time in the boat under your belt you will be upgrading to at least a 24v. The same mentality goes into buying a TM with a GPS lock. How long will you want to live without it? Will you regret buying a 12v now and upgrading to a 24v in a year? Will you regret buying a 24v with no GPS lock now and wish you had spent the money for a GPS lock later? Probably yes. Get the best that you can get now instead of explaining to the wife why you have to replace a 1yr old piece of equipment on your boat. How patient can you be? Can you spend the time to talk in person with a salesperson at every dealer within driving distance and convince them to call you first when someone trades in a fishing rig? I bought a Ranger RT188 with a Merc 115 four-stroke that was exactly one year old and had 10.5hrs on it for well under your price range. There are many people who buy new boats every year just like they buy a new car every year. If you're patient you could find much more than you are expecting to get.

Biggest Fish Months
My PB was in June 2020's biggest was July 2019's biggest was October My biggest fish are always June/July. 2019 was a fluke because I was killing time while my wife visited relatives and I drove over to bank fish at a marina. I'm sure that big bass was a release fish from a recent tournament. But wouldn't your likelihood of catching a big bass in a certain season be relative to what type of fishing you prefer/excel at?

Go-to saying before setting the hook
"There we go" I always fish alone and more amusing is my standard line that I repeat over and over as I'm bringing the fish to the boat if I think it's not hooked well, "C'mon, let's be friends! Let's be friends!" I've had a couple people on shore bust out laughing at me. Which is fine if I land the fish...

Cheap ways to get on the water?
Make a friend! I work with a guy (I've worked with him for over 20 years and he is a great friend so I can say this without guilt) who is an excellent fisherman and has fished his entire life but he refuses to buy a boat. He can afford a brand new boat but he won't spend the money. Why? Because he has two good work friends (one is me) and a neighbor who all have boats. He goes out on the water almost as much as I do and I own a boat. Your $150 will go a LONG way buying gas and snacks for your boater.

Are DC Reels Really Bad for Beginners?
100% agree. I taught myself this way. I also taught my wife this same way and she had it down in a couple practice sessions. Absolutely. I really wish someone had told me this when I first started. I always fish alone and it took me a couple years to figure out why I was getting "random" backlashes and it was 100% due to my wrist/arm. Now that I've figured that out I am throwing light cranks twice as far with no spool tension. It's all in the stroke.

Christmas wake up
I miss those days @12poundbass. My son is 17yrs old and I had to go wake him up at 8:15am so he could have one of my wife's delicious homemade waffles and open his gifts before he sped off to his mom's at 9:30. My step-daughter is 25yrs and lives just over 1000 miles away. No more excited kids waking me up. No more toys for me to play with. Heck, my son just wants cash so he gets an envelope and a few cheap items so he has stuff to unwrap. Have fun with the little ones!!! I really want to make a fort in the living room and play with Hot Wheels but my wife would probably call and ambulance if I did that alone.

Did baitcast reels always have brakes?
Thanks for asking that and thanks @bulldog1935 for answering. That's fascinating. So many machinists working on preventing oil whirl in journal bearings and they brilliantly used it to their advantage.

Best line for Ned Rigs
If you could remember in the spring to let me know how this experiment goes for you I would greatly appreciate it. I am a huge fan of Yo-Zuri hybrid. The only lines I have on baitcasters is 12lb Yo-Zuri and 40-65 Sufix 832. I wanted to use Hybrid on my Ned set ups so I bought 6lb. It was horrible. I broke off the first three fish. I respooled with new and broke the next one off. I threw the spool away. If you find a light co-poly that you like please let me know. Until then I went back to my "old" line with @TnRiver46 and @Plottman1974 with 6lb Trilene XL (which never causes me problems).

Try As I Might, Never Have I Ever Caught A Bass On A ___ .
If you said you had caught a bass on something you never put in the water I would have nominated you for President of the United States.

10-12K Older Boat, What was built well
You should buy that boat in Michigan or Wisconsin and make that drive one final time! Don't buy it in Florida. If I buy a used Harley I make sure it comes from a northern state. The southerns use their warm weather toys more than twice as much as the northerners. There are always exceptions of course, but you won't have to look as hard up north to find one that has less time on it.

Texas Rig vs. Jig
Generally my plan (but not always) and make a note that there are many, many on here much more experienced in jig fishing than I so I'm reading this thread to learn also: Jig - rock/rip rap; any depth; when the water is not at it's hottest; rarely in weeds and rarely in wood unless it's a laydown/grass on a rocky shore; fantastic producer when bite is slow IF you can feel the bite. Bladed jig - Anytime they want a mover a bladed jig is worth a try, especially in grass, etc. Great producer of large fish IMHO. T-Rig - #1 go-to in wood/weeds; less in rock but sometimes; nice because it can be fished weightless which is killer in spring; also exceptionally versatile with regard to shape and buoyancy of plastics; excellent replacement for a jig when the water is at it's hottest. MOST IMPORTANT: Whatever the bass want that day. On a sidenote, hey @Glenn I LOVE the "13 Years Later" banner when a thread gets resurrected! Classic! ?
