Used motors and trailer
Can’t tell you much about the motor. All the guys I know who have 19’+ boats that have single axle trailers want tandem. They ride much better. Cons = harder to maneuver when not hooked up and 2 more tires to potentially have problems.

Bass and the color blue
While this is a good explanation for the physics of light, it does not account for the biology of the bass. If the bass don’t have the machinery to perceive the machinery then the reflectance makes no difference. Not all light is created equal and different biology is necessary to discern differences in light. Im not saying they can’t, I’m just saying that just because the physics dictate the light may be there, does not necessarily mean the bass can perceive it. Im not sure if this bass knew this bait was blue, but I know she found her way into my net

Pros and Cons of joining a Bass club
A bass club is a great way to meet like-minded individuals (related to bass fishing) even if you figure out the club concept isn't right for you. I joined a club and tried hard to participate regularly for about a year. I quickly learned that my schedule is too erratic and that, frankly, tournament fishing just doesn't turn me on. However, I have made some fantastic friends with guys from the club and continue to fish with them on a regular basis. I continue to learn from them. I fully anticipated on being a long-term contributing member of the club from the beginning, but it just wasn't my cup of tea.

$12,500 budget - what to look for?
In general, these 90's - early 2000's Rangers are certainly a worthy investment at the right price. Look for a 488VS, 185VS or possibly R91/R93. Just do your homework on what to look for when assessing a used boat. For your price range you can find an excellent Ranger.

After further inspection. I'm nearly certain its 1/4 oz head. The hook afterall does NOT appear to be a round bend. Here is a video:

Nice rig! Whats the storage length on the trailer for that thing?

Personal Best!
Nice fish and congrats on your new PB! It can be difficult to tell the weight of fish from pictures. Looks like a solid 4 - 4.5 lb fish.

Who will replicate this?
Nice one! This one compared to the one I showed does indeed give the impression that it’s a round bend hook. I’ll get some more pictures tomorrow. Thanks for all of your help guys. I’m learning a lot about these hair jigs.

Honestly guys, it doesn’t have to be an exact copy. Although, if you are enjoying the challenge of figuring it out I won’t take that from you.

I will get a pic of the jig next to a tape measure.

Piano hinge
Gotcha. Looks like you have some purchase for a regular piano hinge to sit/attach to. If you plan on using rivets I strongly suggest using stainless and NOT aluminum. Alternatively, use nuts and bolts. I suggest against screws. Are you lookin for the specific hinge pictured or just a piano hinge in general?

Piano hinge
Greatlakesskipper.com has a variety of them. what are you trying to accomplish?

If you were wrong, it’d still be a good jig. :))

When to stay and when to leave?
With few to no other boats on the lake, leaving and then coming back is my first instinct. That being said, on some bodies of water that I fish very consistently, I have been dwelling in a spot I know there are fish and exploring different presentations (fishing out a little deeper/faster vs slower) in the same spot. Mostly I have been doing this for anticipation of times when the lake would be full of other boats or fishing in a tournament, so I can maybe put a few more fish in the boat. As far as tournament fishing is concerned, I stick pretty closely to “don’t leave fish to find fish.”

It was a custom built jig given to him second hand from someone else. I’ve handled it only briefly and it really felt like a 3/16 jig. Although, I could certainly be wrong and the hair + hook size could have been throwing me off. I agree it is not a light wire hook.

At least 6. if it’s not worth the time to only make 6 then tell me the minimum number you need to make to make it worth your time. Let me know. Thanks!

My wife insisted that I share these pictures she made me take with everyone I know... I guess I'll play along. She's pretty proud of me. Couldn't have done it without her.
