Bucket list Summer Trip - July/August 2026
Based on multiple responses and replies here and on other forums, I am really looking hard into a trip on the St. Lawrence River the last week of July or the first week of August.

What is with people and throwing rocks in the lake
I like throwing rocks in the lake with my son. We don't do it around people that are fishing, but I think there are a lot of people that are pretty oblivious to fishing. When I am fishing from a boat, I always give people who are on the bank first right at that part of the lake. In my opinion, they have one small stretch of bank to access the lake. I have the whole lake in my boat. When I am bank fishing if someone starts throwing rocks next to me, I usually just strike up a conversation. Its just fishing.

Bucket list Summer Trip - July/August 2026
Fishing from a power boat. Anywhere in North America. 1 other person Camping or lodge doesn’t really matter. Just looking for good fun fishing. Don’t mind to pay to play. Well I do have a passport… and I’m not opposed to the idea of a fly-in trip up north…just need some recommendations where to start

Bucket list Summer Trip - July/August 2026
I’m going to have a significant chunk of time off in July and August of 2026. I want to book a bucket list small mouth trip during this period period. I’m thinking it will need to be guided, or at least partially guided. Who can help me with some specific recommendations of guides and/or lodges/resorts or other ideas? There’s really no cost limitation and say somewhere between 3 and 5 days is probably the length of trip.

Fishtechy - Cool fishing gizmo
Well that’s assuming a 2D image. if taken with a lidar camera which most phones are now equipped, the approximation of girth can be quite accurate.

Curado DC vs Metanium DC vs Antares DC
basically this is what I’m trying to figure out. If this is true, sounds like Antares is the way to go. I don’t mind spending if it means an improvement.

Curado DC vs Metanium DC vs Antares DC
I’m looking for a new jerkbait and light crankbait reel and have been thinking about trialing a DC reel. Has anyone trialed all three of the above and can attest to the differences / quality between the Curado, metanium and Antares DC reels? Are the differences incremental? Or is there a huge jump between each of them? For reference, I am currently running a non-DC Curado 70, which I like but am just hoping to really cut down on the number of spool runs in windy conditions with light baits.

Records That Stay
In addition to the habitat of the new lake effect, maybe the role of population has to be considered. This seems especially true in small water bodies that are managed to produce big fish where culling is absolutely imperative to producing big fish. I wonder if there is something about the bass behavior independent of forage availability that changes when more fish are present leading to slower growth rates.

Wipers and white bass
the few lakes that I know have them they don’t seem to be doing their job with the Shad… need to add some more wipers I suppose

Wipers and white bass
Want to try my hand at wipers and white bass. Other than small (2-3”) swimbaits, what are some go to baits?

Rest in Peace - Russ E
@Russ E was a frequent poster in the KC area forums up until the end of December 2022 when he started having health issues. I met him in person a couple times around the KC area and he was always willing to share how his day was going. He passed earlier this month on October 4th, 2024. Rest in peace.

Short bass boats to consider
The Ranger R70 is a good option. You would have to retrofit the motor. The trailer can be easily modded to fit 19’8” with the motor up.

Guess the weight of this fish…
Chat GPT got pretty darn close! Kinda neat. The actual weight was 8.04 lbs.

The latest sale thread
This usually has to do with state sales tax and crossing state lines. YOU still owe the sales tax even if the store doesn’t charge it.

Humminbird has not historically launched new products at ICast. There is definitely something new coming and it’s not what you think.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
personally, I’ve had limited consistent success with a jig, and a jig was my preferred bait prior to moving to the Kansas City area. i’ve caught a few here and there, but really nothing consistent, dragging brush or rock piles.

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
Fished only “new to me water” 4 outings last week. My streak of relatively lackluster fishing continues. Caught a total of 7 bass for the whole week. I did manage to catch one decent one at Smithville.
