Tough decisions
That tatula 100 is unbeatable at that price point. The sx is a nice reel but I personally think there's no comparison to the tatula. If ur not satisfied with the x dont buy the sx. Lil more braking option but otherwise no improvement. Tatula 100 for the win....in my opinion.

Cumberland next weekend
We caught several fish. No size though. There were fish caught tho a guy my buddy knows took 4th with almost 19lbs in that tournament. That lake is just so big and inhave no knowledge of it lol. Guess I zigged when I should have zagged. We stayed out on or close to the main lake and I think most of the fish were caught in the creeks. May go back down in a week or 2 and try again. Heard they were catching them on jigs and crankbaits. Thanks for all the suggestions. Definitely need more time down there Ski213 had it right according to what I heard as well. Should have been doing that I guess.

My first bass boat - Sprint 286 DC ProTournament
I would inspect the transom area very well and make sure there are no cracks etc. Do a Google search and get an idea. Around the splashwell is usually where they occur. Put it in the water and run it and make sure everything works as it should. I've seen a lot of those boats and have always heard positive things but have no first hand experience. Just take your time and make sure everything is copacetic. Good luck and hope it's a jewel!

Do DC reels make that big of a difference?
I can't comment on the dc reels as I have none. Sometimes things just dont seem like a good idea in "my" mind and that concept is one of them. I'm sure they work and apparently some people think they're worth buying. I agree with the above post that reels like the daiwa tatula 100 for that money simply can't be beat. Daiwas breaking system just plain works and in my opinion is superior to most. I like simplicity so some newer technologies have no appeal to me and I will admit I think they sell the hype a lot of time ie 13 concept z with no bearings. Could I cast a dc reel further? Quite possibly...will I ever care....likely not. If "you" feel like the dc reels are worth the coin then you should buy em.

Which lures would you pick?
Dredger and warpig. I have no experience with the rest tho but I really like the dredger for its smaller profile but still heavy enough to cast easily and tight wobble

Rod power and action for walking the dog type baits?
I agree with the med fast action. I have a cple of jerkbait topwater rods that are 6'9 med fast and they're great for walk the dog style baits. Some cranking rods are too soft but some of the heavier ones would work just fine. The basspro cranking sticks in med hvy would work I would think

Zoom Zlinky- New Stickbait Contender?
I've always said the original is the best, but since they're so proud of them I refuse to spend that kinda coin. If i fished professionally or big money a lot I'd buy senkos. I've had good luck on dingers for years. Never cared much for the stick o but apparently a lotta guys love them. May have to try these zoom baits. I like most other zoom products.

Come On Man !!!
C'mon man, when you have a product that people like, leave it alone. It's ok to add new stuff but time has shown how much people like the older shimano reels etc. I personally would never buy another reel if lews would drop their original tournament pro from a few years back. Not the best reel necessarily but excellent at everything for a bargain

Need help choosing a Daiwa Tatula for topwater
I would go with a tatula ct that can be had for like 88 bucks on the auction site. I think the sv is kinda pointless if ur throwing big heavy baits and want distance. The 100 is nice but I prefer the ct myself. If u want a reel that can do other things well like skipping docks etc. Then the sv may be what u want but in my experience the ct absolutely is the better long casting reel

Quantum reels
I think quantum has came a long way in recent years. I had the last generation smoke that a cousin and I beat to death for several years then gifted to a friend who still used it. Buddy fishes the new smokes and they are fine reels. I've eyed those vapors on the auction site as they frequently go for pretty cheap. I'm sure they are fine reels

Cumberland next weekend
Kinda exactly what my plan was. It is an amazing lake and is giving up some good smallmouth

Spinning reel - Christmas present.
Saw these this morning https://www.another site.com/Lews/Mach-Speed-Spin-Series-Spinning-Reel Think maybe these are graphite frame where that one may be aluminum but I'm sure he wouldn't be to mad about it

Cumberland next weekend
I've heard a lot about guys doin good on that technique in Cumberland. I just so happen to have some powerbait minnows I bought just for that so I will definitely give it a shot. Thanks a bunch

Bass Boat Weigh for Towing
The Tacoma and 4 runner would pull it but u will be putting a lot of wear and tear on the vehicle as well. I would get the tundra for sure. Maybe if u only towed a few miles each way u could "get by". I always try to assume I'm gonna take at least one trip a year that will require me to tow long distances. I have an aluminum Triton now that a smaller vehicle could tow just fine but I keep my ram. If I ever wanted to trade back up I'm not stuck having to get a new vehicle as well

Cumberland next weekend
I'm not real familiar with the lake or catching smallmouth for that matter. Andrew Upshaw won that flw down there about a month ago dragging jigs around main lake points towards the lower end of the lake. We have fished Cumberland 3 times. Had some decent luck in fishing creek about a month ago but no size...biggest was maybe 2.5 lbs. We are going this weekend and are goin to target the lower end of the lake. Just curious if anyone had any advice as to what methods, depths, locations in particular to target. I've studied and have decent graphs so if we can get around em I think we can catch a cple. I know some of you guys ie A-Jay catch some brute smallmouth so figured I'd ask. I guess more than anything I'm curious if I should start on the main lake or up in the creeks, secondary points etc. Thanks for your time

Bass Boat Weigh for Towing
I would guess in the neighborhood of 4000 lbs also. My last rig was a Triton 20x2 with a merc 250. Big heavy boat especially for a Triton. I wouldn't have dreamed of attempting to pull it with anything less than a v8 half ton and preferably a 4x4. My extended cab ram with a hemi pulled it like a champ but I could definitely tell it was back there sometimes. Things can get dangerous with a rig like that and not enough vehicle in front of it

what to upgrade -- electronics or trolling motor?
I had the 898 on my last boat. Currently running garmin 93 sv's. I like the Garmins better, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with the 898. I will sort of be in your shoes this spring. I want an ultrex and I want the newer garmins that are compatible with the panoptix live scope. I will for sure get the ultrex first. I fish a Triton 18tx with a 70 lb minn kota egde and my buddy has the ultrex on an older aluminum Triton. It is definitely a game changer. I find myself constantly thinking man if I had that this would be so much better/easier right now lol. My 93sv are the chirp models before the plus so mine are only compatible with the regular panoptix. Soooo....my vote is ultrex first. I believe anyone bass fishing an aluminum rig needs the ultrex or equivalent. Wind can make it almost impossible to fish in some I've been in

Johnny Morris Platinum Baitcasting reel vs. Shimano SLX?
Got rough as heck. Made a cast and when I cranked the handle over I could feel something give inside. Felt like a coffee grinder afterwards. Didn't bother with tearing it down just took it back and got a refund. My dad bought one at the same time and his has already started to feel a little rough as well. The older one I've had for probably 6 years and it still feels pretty good

Pro qualifier 2 on sale
I have an older one that's held up for years. Bought the 2 back in the spring for 50 bucks and it lasted 3 trips throwing squarebills before it crapped out. Apparently others have had better luck

Casting Rod comparison
Of those 2 I'd vote for the falcon. Very nice sticks for the money and a good company

Johnny Morris Platinum Baitcasting reel vs. Shimano SLX?
If u haven't figured it out...shimano gets a lot of love on here. Are they better? Totally subjective. For the sale prices I believe the platinum would be a better reel in almost every way of course it's a 200 reel compared to a 100 dollar reel. I like shimano reels but I have 3 of the platinum reels and they're amazing. Totally dont agree that the slx is smoother. I've had a cple of the slx reels and I feel the platinum is considerably smoother. Honestly wasn't impressed with the slx. Much prefer the tatula ct to the slx. Its pretty apparent there are varying opinions so I'd go check em both out and see which feels better to "you". Bought the pro qualifier last spring on sale and it lasted 3 trips before it crapped out. I've had the platinums for a full season of heavy use and still feel like new.

Scott Martin just announced he's going to B.A.S.S
I'm hoping he succeeds without the bpt. Kinda hoping thrift does the same thing. I have nothing against the bpt and what they've accomplished but I think monopoly is never a good thing. I'm hoping BASS stays true to what they've always been and continues to grow. It's fun to watch all of it and diversity is great. Good luck to Scott I'm sure he will be in the elites in no time

Lure Rating Question
Getting into big heavy baits I would definitely want to know the rods ratings. As for say a 7' med hvy...if I were throwing a 3/8 bait and wanted to go heavier I'd cut the bait off and put the heavier on within reason obviously. I've got all my combos down to basically a cple baits I throw on any given rod. Obviously if I only had a cple combos these lure ratings would be more important. Given the differences in rod actions from different manufacturers it's all a matter of preference anyway. What I want for a specific bait may seem too heavy or light for the next guy. If having the ratings as a guide helps then by all means use it. My answer is no I dont ever use it. Couldn't tell ya what any of my rods are "rated" for. Kinda like the fluoro debate...lots of guys on here seem to not be a fan. I personally love it. We have options for days although that can be overwhelming in itself
