  1. What makes me laugh is when their argument gets to the point of calling me names.
  2. Maybe some state employee will think that's a good way to get rid of grass carp.
  3. Worst thing I ever caught was about a 4' cottonmouth on a buzzbait at Decker Lake outside of Austin. It hit like a freight train. I stopped reeling once I realized what had come out of the reeds to hit my bait but he kept coming at the boat. I cut the line and moved across the lake. On Lake Travis we were out late at night fishing lighted docks for white bass. I cast a Rat L Trap into the ball of shad and let it drop. All of a sudden something hit and took off. It smoked my drag and spooled my UL spinning reel. Had to have been a decent striper, but I never saw it.
  4. Yeah, that will work.
  5. Not MOTV, but I watch a lot of good shows on Waypoint TV via my Roku device. The only cost was for the Roku stick...about $49.
  6. +1 Pipkins and Hartman were my only Sunday guys. My lineup is already set for St Clair. I went back to my dartboard method.
  7. That's a terrible job. I spent 2 hrs unwinding line from my mower one day. 10x worse than getting it out of the trolling motor.
  8. My wife loves to fish for crappie and bluegill so we go out at least once a week. I always try to position the boat so she has easier access to where I think the fish are that particular time. I don't want her to have to cast into the wind if possible. Never fails that once we get set up, the wind shifts or the fish are not where they should have been. Two weeks ago she was in the primo spot and caught nothing but little ones. I was fishing out the other side of the boat and nailing slabs. I could sense her frustration so we switched seats. She had a blast catching some big ones and had a big smile on her face the whole time. That's worth more to me than anything. I do the same for my son when we go out. I want him to catch fish and pass the bug on to his son. My first grandson was born last week and I can't wait for the day to come when I can take him fishing.
  9. Bring extra spark plug(s). I bought my first boat from a guy my wife worked with. We took it out for a test run on Lake Austin and all was good. First time out was a 2 day trip to Gibbons Creek. We were 3rd in line to launch, got the boat in the water and the motor would not start. I took the spark plug out and it looked awful. We ended up trolling around for a few hours and then went back into Bryan for a spark plug. The guy at Sears couldn't figure out why they didn't have it. Finally figured out I had to go to a Johnson dealer. By the time we got there they were closed (noon on a Saturday!) and not open on Sunday. Fortunately we found an Evinrude dealer that was open and he had the right spark plug.
  10. Riggo would be able to show you how to fish those old Budweiser crankbaits.
  11. I put a lot more thought and research into this week. That combination usually leads to disaster. A-D is solid. E is a crapshoot, but I'm happy with my pick.
  12. Just ordered one of these after seeing the Frog video.
  13. A - KVD B - Mike Iaconelli C - Gary Klein D - Brandon Card E - Shaw Grigsby
  14. That's an awesome video!
  15. Those look like shellcrackers.
  16. One theory is the boat noise stirs up the bait fish which turns on the bass.
  17. My wife hooked Marble Falls Dam the first time I took her fishing for white bass.
  18. This looks like fun. I just joined so that will keep everyone else from finishing last.
  19. My wife couldn't understand why I rigged up 3 rods for her to fish for bluegill. Two weeks ago she reeled in a huge twisted wind knot on her favorite rod. She didn't say a word and started trying to straighten out the mess. Next thing I know she's laid the rod down and was looking frustrated. I pulled another one of her rods out of the box and told her to get back to work catching my lunch.
  20. My wife whacking me with a Pop R while I'm trying to tie up to the dock is pretty annoying.
  21. For me it has usually been "Here yesterday, gone today", as in "You should have been here yesterday".
  22. I've got a 15 lb mushroom anchor on the front and the little Power Pole micro anchor on the back. I'll use them both when we find a good panfish spot. My boat positioning skills improved quite a bit when I was without my PP for about 2 weeks.
  23. That's good news, unless these guys relocate them to Goose Creek Reservoir. We've already got too many transplants here.
  24. Welcome from the Lowcountry.
  25. I caught my first SC yellow perch a few weeks ago with a little crappie jig tipped with a cricket on the freshwater side at Bushy Park/Cooper River. I knew what it was, but I didn't think there were any in SC. It was about 8" long.
