weird weather?
so the last 3 the days have been in the mid 60s to 70s, but tomorrow the day temp is dropping to around 45, the last couple of days I was able to get fish to eat topwater (because they were active and moving up) I have an idea as to what they will be doing tomorrow now that the temp is dropping back down, but wanted to hear others opinions as well on what they think the fish will do?

Found a double whopper plopper on a tree, but do they work?
simple question, does the bait really produce fish the way the normal whopper plopper does?

how to re learn a pond to catch more fish?
so I have this farm pond I have been fishing for a couple of years, I used to be able to catch tons of fish, both big and small from it in a day, I am almost the only person who fishes it, and definitely the only one who fishes it seriously. it's about 5 acre's, crystal clear (about 10 foot vis) and around 20-30 ft deep at its deepest point. I used to be able to catch fish on moving baits all day long (rattle traps, spinnerbaits etc) but now it seems like the only thing I have major success with is finesse, and I struggle to catch big fish out of it anymore even tho I know there's a ton of 4+ and several 9's to possibly double digits. any advice on how to re learn the fish/pond to catch more and better quality fish again?

Tell me about swim jigs
I love throwing swim jigs, a lot of times if the water is dirty I opt for a chatterbait or something like that, I will throw it at just about anything, I generally go with a swimbait type trailer but will occasionally go with a craw or chunk of some sort. as far as weights I generally throw a 3/8's ounce swim jig, and My prefered swim jig is Nates Custom Baits hybrid-skirt Swim jig. - James

fishing after major storm/during cold front
in ponds, what would be the best way to go about catching fish when the temps go from 70's to 50's? yesterday we had major thunderstorms and a tornado in my city, I know to slow down, but what lures would you guys suggest?

best top waters this time of year?
it has been around 65 to 75 degrees the past couple of days, and I was considering throwing some topwaters, is it to early for frogs? I figured I would just toss some spooks but wanted advice.

Ever lost such a big fish you just cant fish anymore for that day/week?
Update on my fish, I managed to get her to bite again (same bait, different time) as stated in the original post, the first time was at around 6:30. Sunday she bit again, but it was at around 10 pm I think I have narrowed down the times and place she feeds. (edit: I didn't catch her this time because she just missed the entire bait, she just blew up on it)

Straight florocarbon vs Braided with Florocarbon leader
I use nothing but braid, in regards to your frog question do not use a leader while frog fishing. personally I use straight braid with no leader (the one and only time I will consider a leader is with certain topwaters) I find the action is better/the same but the sensitivity is much better in comparison to other types of line. RE: I personally use the FG knot when tying braid to any sort of leader.

Looking for advice
Hey Lukie! Welcome! I do fairly serious tournament fishing and like Grumpy said the bass don't know how expensive your rods and reels are. I just went by walmart and bought a Berkeley rod for $30 MH 7ft overall great rod so far (I actually like it better then some of my more expensive rods) and for cheaper reels Lews makes great reels (I use them almost specifically) they have some really nice reels for 80ish or less. good luck to you in your endeavors friend!

Ever lost such a big fish you just cant fish anymore for that day/week?
so I went to a local pond this morning at around 6 am, normally at this pond I catch a few dinks and the occasional 4-5lb fish...but today was different...I had no bites for about an hour and a half on a buzzbait... then BOOM the biggest blow up I have ever seen, accompanied by a fish so big it was wallowing in the shallow water I was fishing. I proceed to freak out and reel her in and she wraps me around a sign in the water.. this fish was every bit of 10 pounds (biggest I have caught is about 7 this would've been my first DD) what do you do after that? I just feel so depressed by this because this is probably the only fish in this pond that big.

The great swim jig
Hello fellow anglers, I'm just looking for advice on how/where/why to fish a swim jig? I have never really tried one and when I have it hasn't done much so I wanted to figure out what I was doing wrong. Any thought's or advice is very appreciated.

how to fish a pond pier/dock
so there is a pond I go to quite frequently, it has 2 main structures in it, a bigish pier/dock and the watershed. I feel like this time of year the fish will be on said structure, and or out in the deeper parts of the pond (the pond is roughly 9 feet at its deepest point. I know there are fairly big fish in this pond (however it is quite pressured, the biggest I have caught was around 6 but have heard of bigger fish being caught) I guess I'm just somewhat at a loss of what to fish, I don't know if I should focus on these two main structures or deeper water, any advice is great. - Best regards, James.

Jig fishing in ponds?
So I have never caught a fish on a jig, I don't usually have the opportunity to fish big lakes unless I'm back boating so I normally fish ponds. My main question is, should I work the jig differently in a pond compared to a big lake? should I size down a lot? that kind of thing. - best regards, James Burns
