  1. My only hesitancy with this style frog is just the potential to so easily gather grass and moss on it. With that big moving part on the back or adding swivels and such to the back of a regular frog it just seems like you are just begging to make a somewhat weed less bait a magnet for riff raff. For those with experience yes or no?
  2. I was specifically asking about those 2 products and the lowest price online because I want one of those 2 and I've got a guy locally that will match the price so no other items interest me in this scenario. Just looking for the lowest online price for these two specific items.
  3. I am used to my BC reels having external brakes on them. My new Shimano SLX has internal brakes on it. Does anyone have some tips on adjusting it and other points that might shorten my learning curve? Also, about this reel I read this on Tackle Warehouse: Using centrifugal force rather than magnets to control casting, the Shimano SLX Casting Reel employ and advanced VBS (Variable Braking System) to virtually eliminate backlashes and extend casting distance. Is this just sales pitch or is there something about the design and settings that actually do lessen backlashes? I need to get my wife a new reel and with her history and frustration with backlash perhaps she gets this reel from me!
  4. I have a local store that will price match items they carry provided I can show them a legit ad online. Can't be an eBay ad or something but any legit website will do. I think I am interested in buying a family member a new BC combo. I am looking at one of the orange/black Lew's Mach Crush combos or the green/black Lew's Mach 2 combo. A lot of you guys seem to know of many different fishing websites that I have never heard of and are better at that kind of thing than I am. Just want some links to the best prices on these two items as it would be a big help. Thanks!
  5. Found a better solution today! Was poking around my local Scheels and they had one left and matched the ALF price! Score!
  6. Well crap, I talked to American Legacy Fishing today and even though their website shows they have them they told me today they were out of the 7' MH fast variety. Bummer! Anyone know of anywhere else selling this combo on sale currently?
  7. Going to buy my sister a nice new bait cast combo for her birthday. At the price point of $150 I am at I am considering the Lew's Mach 2 with the green Winn grips and the Shimano SLX. She already knows how to throw a BC so I am not concerned about which may be easier for a newbie. Also because this will probably be her main, multi-purpose rod/reel set up it needs to be able to handle most anything. Which ever I go with I'm fairly sure I would go with the 7' MH Fast model and a 7:x reel and with her being a fan of braid I will probably throw on some 832 Sufix 40# I've got laying aorund. I'm not really looking for opinions on if you like the Winn grips or not (I know opinions very) but more which is a better all around combo? Better reel? More sensitive rod? Thanks for the input!
  8. Is that the "stock" price or do you have to sign up for a newsletter or something to get that price? Does that include shipping or not?
  9. I wish I had jumped on the SLX combo deal that both Scheels and Academy was running. $50 bucks off if you bought both the rod and reel taking the combo down to $150. Looks like it has expired everywhere, I should have pulled the trigger!
  10. I know this is normally reserved for local fishing reports but being that this would need to be a local deal to me here in KC I figured it would not harm anything to post this here. I am looking into buying a small fishing boat and I am considering buying a jon boat and having it built more into a bass boat. (Budget is pushing me this direction versus buying a traditional bass boat.) I really considered some of the nicer Sun Dolphins that would suite my 8 year old son and I but pretty soon my 4 year old son will demand to go too. I am posting this here in our local section because I do not have the time/skill to build something like this and a while back I saw a posting somewhere of a local guy that does just this kind of stuff but I cannot find it or his contact info anywhere. I was wondering if anyone could point me in a certain direction or know of anyone?
  11. Thinking about buying a Shimano SLX combo. If memory serves both Academy and Scheels recently had sales on them. Anyone know of one going currently?
  12. Nice! Where were you? Caught it on what?
  13. I was considering a Garmin unit but what you just posted said electronics were excluded. But others on here are saying they were successful so IDK.
  14. When is the 40% Overton's deal ending? Any items excluded?
  15. Regarding "tip heavy" to label a rod/reel combo as such is it purely a feel thing? Or is there some sort of trick or rule of thumb that if you put your finger a few inches up from the reel and it should balance or what?
  16. Does anyone have any personal experience with these and an opinion they could share?
  17. I am sort of considering one of these Cush-it to try on my jig/frog rod. I've read that it might make the rod float, while nice I guess my interest in it would purely be a performance deal. I have heard people say it can really affect the balance of the rod, is that true? Frogging can really wear you out, does the added weight make it even worse? Just curious if anyone has tried them and had an opinion on them. Thanks!
  18. Ran by Walmart today to look at their batteries. They had two different models and at the end of the spec one said DC and the other MS. What's the difference between the two and which should I go with?
  19. I live in Independence and have a pontoon at Blue Springs lake. The crappie fishing can be good from the marina dock there. If you are going to be over by Blue Springs I would recommend you call "40 Woods" tackle shop there in BS. A lot of old time locals go up there and they would certain have the skinny on where to go for what around there.
  20. Didn't realize there was a difference with the hook up. Yes, I probably should just do this. Thanks!
  21. Went to Bass Pro today to talk to the guy. He agreed that I probably should stay with a group 27 battery if possible. He was also explaining to me about these AGM batteries. I told him these I have been buying seem to last about 2 years. He says a similar AGM battery should last about 10 years. Is this true? If so I would up the budget. Looking at Bass Pro it looks like any battery I buy will be on the more expensive side. Should I consider Walmart or somewhere else for this purchase?
  22. No trolling motor. Besides start up there is a radio that is installed in it, running lights at night and POSSIBLY and rare plug in of an item into the cigarette lighter.
