  1. Trying to get my wife to fish more with me this year. (Makes it easier to justify me out fishing and spending money on it!) She can throw my baitcaster fine so I bought her the BP PQ2 they have on sale. Looking for a cheap but solid rod option for her. Probably a 7' option MH with a fast action would be a best for an all around usage option? What would you point me towards?
  2. Does the depth you anticipate fishing and/or the plastic you fish on it explain the different answers or just personal preferences?
  3. Going to pick up a 2 pack at BPS tomorrow and give them a try. What's a good universal size you'd recommend I start with? 5/16 maybe?
  4. My concern has always been a lose of sensitivity with something like this. If true should they only be considered for moving baits where it is not so much an issue?
  5. Talking about on a baitcaster here. I am not talking about punching or flipping a jig or something. Say on a 7' Med Fast rod and a reel with say 30 IPT. I am talking about T-rigging a worm, hula grub, a rage bug, possibly something with a little more movement like a fluke. You using mono, fluoro or braid? What pound strength? Is there a prevailing thought here or is it all just personal preference?
  6. I am not envisioning this and how it works. Can you look at the date this video was posted or better yet the name of the video so I can search for it? I'd love to hear more about this.
  7. I've got 3 ready to try out. Just a matter of this ice and snow LOL
  8. Once again thanks for sharing some knowledge with me!
  9. What # fluoro would you recommend? I'd assume a reel on the faster side? What rod characteristics would you point me to?
  10. 1/4 or 3/8 tungsten for our waters around here? FC or braid? Recommend bc set up or spinning for this presentation?
  11. Pretty simple question. Thought about just T-rigging it but with it being such a long bait I was afraid it would not get to the hook before I swung on it. So how and what size hook should I try on it? Certain type of rod/line I should pair up for these?
  12. Hmm. I will have to search for that model. Thanks
  13. Last year I got real tired of always having to adjust my soft plastic on a hook without a keeper of some sort and after almost every retrieve having to fiddle with it to get it to sit the way it's supposed to. Throwing some Keitechs on Owner beast hooks made me a fan of their CPS Centering Pin Springs so I want to buy a pack of 8 of them and see what I think and try them on anything you can T-rig. For those of you with experience with these do I want to so with the Medium or Large size? Do they work better with a EWG or round bend worm style hook or does it not matter? With or without an offset? I've heard some guys say it might not slide through stuff as easily and you could catch grass and other gunk around it? Just am hoping for some insight here.
  14. This is kind of what I was wondering about. This is kind of what I do on my baait casters that have 40# braid on it. Is that a sound theory too?
  15. Regarding that one that is the size of a 3700 I like the uniform size of it but again I would be fearful of it being super hard to get one particular one out without having to take like three out. Or that having it pinched or held in a certain position or angle that could damage or alter its normal retrieve.
  16. I have about 5 bait cast setups I have been using and this year I am adding a spinning combo to the mix. How do I go about setting the drag correctly? If it helps with your advice it's a 6'9" Lews Mach 2 combo that I put 20# 832 braid on that I will primarily use for shakey heads and wacky rigged senkos and such.
  17. I'd imagine that by entering into the test you sign something saying you will submit to a polygraph if asked to take one. Again, when there is this much money at stake people will do what people will do. Great story!
  18. If I want some boxes for bigger/wider bodied cranks like 6XD's and such would standard 3700 sized boxes do the trick or do I need to look at deep models?
  19. https://www.flambeauoutdoors.com/big-mouth-spinnerbait-box-w/-zerust-reg.aspx Checking out this one too. While a bit larger it does hold 60 of them and leaves them in more of their natural "state".
  20. I can understand that and that certainly makes sense. I'm curious what kind of questions are asked. Do they ask if they hired someone to go fish that lake and give them a report? If they are out to eat and a local comes up and starts giving a guy a bunch of tips does he have to cut the guy off immediately for fear he would fail the test? I'm curious if they are asked these questions before they take the stage at a huge weigh in so not to potentially announce a winner publicly only to have to back track later. Does BASS also not allow anglers to talk to each other about the lake and baits used once the tournament starts?
  21. Looking at options for spinnerbait storage. Holds 39 spinnerbaits and that would be adequate for me. The main thing I am curious about is it looks like you have to really squeeze the "V" of the wire in to a much more narrow degree and I was curious if after sitting in there at that position for a long time if that would weaken the bait or ruin its action or its ability to go back to the original angle. Also I guess only someone that owns this could answer this but if you had all the slots full would you be able to get a certain one out without having to take 5 out to get it that particular one?
  22. Yeah that is what I am looking at now. The Plano 3700 is $3.84 at my local Walmart. I am trying to decide if I like the Plano or Flambeau 3700 versions better.
