Roughly how much more should I have to expect to get that feature? For my education does the ability to download maps come as a free deal from the company that makes the unit you buy or is there a monthly or upfront fee for this service?

Again I am a total noob about this stuff. When you say "has GPS but no maps" is the GPS so you can make a waypoint for a specific point on the lake you want to fish? And when you say no maps I assume that means it does not have the capability to "downlaod" pre-recorded mapping of a certain lake?

I guess my question is what does it "do" for the line? Does it soften it and reduce memory or something? Do you spray it on the line when it is on the reel? Just once or every time out? Can it damage the reel?

Just wanted to see if anyone has any experience with this product? Just hype or does it really work? What exactly does it "do" for your line and your lure?

Well if I go with a 7 inch screen and stay at a max of $400 what features MUST I make sure I have? What are features that are really important but I would not be able to get at that price point?

Bought a Lews 7'6" David Fritts Perfect Crank glass rod to do deep cranking with. Pairing it up with an Orra Winch and 12 pound fluoro. Most of the time I expect to be throwing a 6XD but there will be times I get up to a 10XD. Was thinking about that tonight and see that TW says the 10XD weighs 1.92 oz and I've notice my rod gives a lure weight suggestion of 0.5 to 1.25 oz. Is this going to be a problem or just ignore it? I would just test it out but here in Missouri it is far too cold and if there is a problem I probably should return it before I use it.

What other applications would the Sierra 735c be a good choice for?

THIS is the year I finally buy a fish finder! Right now I am just learning about all the options, features and other points to consider when buying one. I do not want this to go over 300 bucks so I am looking for a bang for the buck recommendation. I've heard the Humminbird Helix 5 G2 is a really good unit for the money. Any others I should look at in that price range? I assume for under $300 I can still get a quality unit versus I am not just not going to be happy with anything at that price point?

While I have never done it I have certainly heard of backing. What is the point/advantage of doing this?

I bought an Orra Winch I was going to pair up with my 7'6" deep crank rod. Looks like the reel will hold 180 yards of 12 lb mono. I wanted to put a 6XD or 8XD on and go throw it around a little bit. I have about a 100 yards 12 lb Seagar Invizx fluero doing nothing that I was going to put on there but I was concerned about something. For typical "chuck and retrieve" for a while even with much longer casts and deeper diving stuff would 100 yards work for a while or am likely to come to the end of the spool when casting? I know that obviously when I really start to use it this season I will fill it up but I was just curious if this is enough to me able to safely "give it all I've got" as it were with bombing a cast out there?

To zell_pop1, having not heard much back on this I bit the bullet and bought one. When Matt and Tim mentioned you wanted to get the "older one" I did not know if that meant the original Orra Winch or the more prevalent Winch 2. I bought the second one and on the underside it says ORRA2WINCH so it sounds like I got the one I was looking for.

Anyone got a blade bait they like? Might got out next week and people seem to swear by fishing a blade bait this time of year and yo-yoing it back. Is there a brand/size/color you'd point me to?

Been looking for deep crank reel option for under 75 bucks. Looking for something like a 5.4:1 I’d say. Going on a 7’6” crank rod and will be throwing 5XD, 6XD and such. I think I MAY have settled on an Orra Winch but there are just a lot of models in the Orra Winch family and since they are no longer being activately being sold by Abu Garcia there is not a shred of info about them on their website. I have read every post on this forum that talks about them and while I read comments about them I never found anything comparing models to each other. I've done a lot of research online and I see these 3 versions of the “older” Winch models: Orra Winch Orra Winch 2 Orra Max Winch There are even some models for salt water and some newer ones that are out of my price range. I’ve read some about certain models seemed to really outperform they siblings but it is hard to figure out which is the “best” model. I guess I am looking for someone with some knowledge or experience with these reels to kind of sort them out and get some reviews or pointers on which I should go with.

Never heard of this crazy thing but saw someone of my local Facebook market place selling one. So it fuses the line together or something to eliminate the need to tie a knot? Not to hijack this thread (but I will LOL) anyone know what this is? A guy at the lake gave it to me this fall and I did surprising well with it. Soft paddle tail with a metal slug insert in the head.

There seems to be a lot of different versions on the Winch model and that some sound great and some sound so-so. There is the Orra Winch, Winch Max, Winch gen 2 and so on and so on. I just want to figure out which I should go with for a CHEAP deep crank reel and I can't figure out which model is legit.

So is there a difference between the Orra Winch and this Max Winch? If so what are they? Been looking for a cheap deep crank reel.
