Thought I knew what crank rod, now my budget has been increased
Has the sale on the Dobyns Fury 705CB through American Legacy Fishing ended? I thought I read there was an automatic 20% off now (I now see a price of $109) and that you can get an additional 15% off for signing up for signing up for their newsletter (I see 10%) so I asking if I missed the best price possible?

Lucky Craft 1.5 SILENT square bill
Looking at the TW webpage on these there are just too many options. Can anyone give me a brief explanation to all these types?

Lucky Craft 1.5 SILENT square bill
I've been wanting to try a Lucky Craft 1.5 SILENT square bill. Looking at their webpage I am more confused than ever. They have more model numbers and such then I could ever figure out. To make sure I get the correct one what is the specific model number I am looking for to order?

What is the thought process behind the micro guides?
I was just curious what the thought process is behind the design of micro guides? Seems like a lot of rods are going that way and that most fisherman have a strong opinion on them. Is there a specific type of rod this design would be best for?

Deal on Sierras
I really wish they made a specific crank bait rod in this series.

Thought I knew what crank rod, now my budget has been increased
I have been trying to put together a rod/reel combo that would be dedicated to square bills, 1/2 oz lipless cranks with probably a 3XD as the largest/deepest diving crankbait I'd throw on it. Going to pair it up with a 6:3 Daiwa Fuego CT with 12lb Seaguar Invizx fluoro. POSSIBLY 40lb Sufix 832 braid. I thought I knew what I wanted and was just trying to narrow down the details of the specific rod but now my budget has increased a bit and I have a few more options. For the rod I want to stay around $125 or so. I'm now looking at either the Dobyn's CL 705CB or FR 705CB OR one of the St. Croix MOJO rods. Read a lot about how a rod dealing only with treble hooks I should go with glass rod had a nice that parabolic bend to it and the thought process certainly makes sense. Sounds like a lot of people are not fans of glass rods, mostly due to increased weight and less sensitivity. I do not think the weight is that much different and with reaction baits like this I wouldn't think sensitivity is that big a deal versus landing more fish. Not only that does anyone make a graphite rod with a moderate action that has that parabolic bend to it or is that only a characteristic of glass rods? Looks like with the Dobyn's rods the glass models are out of my price range. With the St. Croix they make the MOJO line in glass too. The problem is I would probably have to go with the 6'10" (shorter than I was thinking) or 7'4" (longer than I was thinking) and I am not sure what I would go with. I have a 7' Lews Mach 2 combo already and a 7'6" Lews David Fritts glass crank rod for deeper applications. But for what I am wanting to throw on this rod (square bills, 1/2 oz lipless cranks and 3XD as the deepest diving) would 6'10" not be that bad an idea? Or should I do a graphite? Looks like ALL graphite rods are a "fast" and probably not best for this task. Thoughts or ideas?

What kind of line would you be able to throw the furthest?
If you were to have contest to see who could cast a lure the furthest what kind of line would you choose? Obviously you would want a heavier lure but as for the line would you want mono, fluoro, braid? What would be the ideal test of the line? Just curious what other people's thoughts were.

~7' M/M or MH/M for 1/2 oz Lipless? POLL
Would your vote change if you were using straight braid or fluoro?

MAN I am just STUCK trying to decide which rod! HELP!
Based upon the real split on M or MH here you can see my quandary. As to the line I am a 100% 40lb 833 sufix braid guy but for this rod/reel setup I'm trying to branch out and am going to be trying 12lb Seaguar Invizx fluoro. If I don't like it for whatever reason I'm sure I would go back to my braid. Again, I'm going to pair it all up with a 6:3 Daiwa Fuego CT reel. Having read a lot of the comments her I won't use single hook baits with it, only treble hook baits like lipless, square bills and smaller deep divers like a 3XD. It's just a question of is M or MH the way to go.

Tom, I respect your thoughts on this forum. Do you have opinion on which power I should go with in this situation?

MAN I am just STUCK trying to decide which rod! HELP!
I've always been told that since fluoro sinks (versus braid that floats) it would go deeper, assuming the line diameter was the same.

MAN I am just STUCK trying to decide which rod! HELP!
I have been kicking this back and forth in my mind for a few months now and I just need to make a decision and could really use some input. I am looking to put together a rod/reel combo that would be dedicated to square bills, 1/2 oz lipless cranks with probably a 3XD as the largest/deepest diving crankbait I'd throw on it. MAYBE a 1/2 oz chatterbait too or possibly a 1/2 oz spinner bait but mostly it would be used for the first few baits I mentioned. I want to go with a glass rod and think I am going with the Lews David Fritts Perfect Crankbait rod because if its features and price. (I already own this same rod in 7'6" MH for larger cranks like 5XD or 6XDs.) I am going to go with the 7' rod but cannot decide on the MED or MED-HVY variety. Originally I was convinced that the MED was the way to go for these specific bait presentations and size and was prepared to do that. I throw a lot of 1/2 ox lipless and I was talking to a guy I respect and he told me the key to a bait like that is while it will catch fish in open water he really recommended aiming for grass because this bait truly shines when ripping it through grass and he REALLY felt like MED would be too weak for this and I better go with the MH. But being that I have the MH (but in the 7'6") I kind of felt maybe I should go with the MED and have all my bases covered. IDK, I just want this answered for me frankly because I just need to make a decision! If it helps I am going to use a 6:3 Daiwa Fuego CT with 12 pound Seaguar Invizx fluoro.

Looking for some plastic treble hook covers
I've been looking for some plastic treble hook covers for lipless cranks, crankbaits and such. Probably size 2 and 4. Haven't really seen any locally, anyone have some they like I can buy online somewhere?

Line capacity consideration for new spinning reel?
I meant I'd never be fishing sun up to sun down, specifically with just this 1 rod where I'd potentially use or waste a ton of line in a single day where having 25 yards more would be something I need. I guess is the ONLY difference is does the 300 hold more line and that's it or do they some how "fish" or perform differently compared to each other
-
Line capacity consideration for new spinning reel?
I am looking at getting a new spinning reel. Looking mostly at either the Lews MH2-200 or MH2-300. Only real difference is the line capacity. The 200 is a 120/8 and the 300 is a 145/10. I'm going to put Sufix 832 braid on it, just not sure what strength line yet. Is there any "performance" difference between the two sizes of reels? I will never be on the water and "need" that extra 25 yards of line on the reel. Just wondering what all I should be considering here.

Top water and frog rod all in one?
3 hours ago in this post you can see my options. Unfortunately one of those models isn't available from this person.

Top water and frog rod all in one?
Well the whole reason I was thinking about it I came across a great deal locally to buy a brand new Lews 6'10" or 7'2" (mh1sh610mh or mh1sh72mh) for 20 bucks. I really don't NEED either but at such a great deal I didn't want to pass on them. But I'd like to have an idea of what I'd ideally do with them or what Id really use them for before I buy either.

Top water and frog rod all in one?
I'm looking at getting a new rod set up to do froging and other top water stuff like buzz baits, whopper ploppers, etc. Money isn't infinite so ideally I'd like this one setup to handle all of these kinds of things. But are these so different from each other that one rod isn't going to be able to do all this? If it were I assume I'd want a graphite rod, maybe 7' to 7'6" and maybe a MH or H? Probably a fast action? Point me straight here please!

When to use mono for LMB fishing???
But is it problematic if BOTH my rod and line selection have stretch/forgiving properties to where it may be too much so that way?
-
When to use mono for LMB fishing???
If I'm using a softer rod or maybe even a 7 foot glass rod of I were to use mono would that be too much stretch or give if I'm throwing a moving treble hook bait?

When to use mono for LMB fishing???
I've just seen person after person sing the praises of mono here. Why do we not really see "the pros" using it? Is it to help their sponsors to sell more expensive line? If it were to have so many advantages I just don't see them not using it.

Want to try big game mono
And what are those certain applications?
