  1. Which loomis did you pick up?
  2. Haha just when I thought I had it narrowed down Lol. I don’t do a ton of finesse fishing but last year on the water a few times conditions got tough and after spending a day or two trying to find bass every other possible way I fish, I finally picked up a spinning rod and slowed things down and caught some of the biggest smallies I’ve ever caught and 2 beauty largie’s. That’s when I decided I need to get a good spinning rod to fill the niche. I figured drop shot, Ned rig and maybe even finesse tubes would all be done on extra fast? The shakey head, flukes, senko’s I’ll be throwing on a different rod.
  3. Thank you everyone. The rod will be used for drop shot, Ned rig, and senko’s mainly.
  4. You 100% will not be disappointed there!
  5. Congrats on the new rod. I have a Sierra 734c and love the rod. I also have a curado k and the reel is amazing for the money but I stepped up to the chronarch mgl and now own 3 of them. My favorite reel by far! A light weight, work horse for sure! I have one of my finesse casting rod, one of my main jig rod and one on my frog rod! I am interested in the metanium and bantam and they will be this season I think. Looking at moving the chronarch off one of the rods and throwing the bantam on and putting the chronarch on something else to try. And picking up a new stick with a metanium to try. But for now those chronarchs are sick!!!
  6. I don’t know anything about the Alx rods but I do fish with 2 avid-x. One is mine a 7’ medium spinning and the other is the exact one your looking at. My dad owns the 7’ medium-heavy fast casting rod paired with tatula sv and lord does he love it. That rod bombs any bait he puts on it, light and sensitive yet loads of power to horse a fish out of the depths and slop! He loves it and the few times I fished it I was very impressed. I love my avidx spinning rod
  7. I definately prefer loomis Rods but was trying to keep open minded here as I wanted to see what else I might be worth it. I only have the 1 st. Croix and have only fished 2 st. Croix and both good sticks but definately didn’t balance or feel as sensitive as the loomis Rods I have or have fished. Hear great things with the legend elites and there a nice feeling rod for sure! So you find the nrx more sensitive, so I’m curious as to how the glx feels. Regardless your happy with the elites preformance for the value and sensitivity? It’s going be my main finesse rod
  8. Which one has the advantage in sensitivity. I know they both have big fan bases but looking for opinions from people that have fished both. I’m looking at the glx 822 dsr and the 6’10” legend elite es610mlxf. Found a decent deal on the glx and a good price on the legend elite. Was a rod that is going to have great sensitivity? Being paired with the ci4+
  9. I think I just have a bit of a lemon personally. I bought it as my first baitcaster as everyone here spoke so highly of it and bought one for my dad the same time. Now my dads reel casts a country mile, very easy to set up, and not picky at all. Mine doesn’t cast the best, is absolutely the pickiest reel I’ve ever handled and is more of a headache then a pleasure to fish with. My dad bought a second one and it’s the same as his first one! My brother got the fuego and it casts very very well for the money but my tatula is just a pain. I bought a curado K the same time and it was just such a pleasure compared to my tatula I ended up buying a bunch of shimano reels and I just wanted to try another daiwa for myself before complete giving up on them
  10. Taggin in, I’m also about to pull the trigger on a zillion sv tw to try it next to my tat sv which I don’t like very much but want to try another daiwa before I give up on them
  11. I’d love to get my hands on that rod. Around my neck of the woods it’s very very difficult to find Megabass rods. I’ve only seen one and it was the store owners personal that he happened to have with him. No store around me carries them as far as I know and when spending that kind of doe I’d really like to handle them first.
  12. I fish a glx 7’1” 852 for finesse jigs and a glx 7’5” 894c for my main jig rod from boat and bank
  13. Thank you. I do very little almost no topwater fishing at all minus frogs any more but would like to get back into it. I was just assuming the use my crankbait rod for top water due to the treble hooks. I love the explosive excitement of the frog so I picked up a few poppers. Looks like I’ll hsve to try it on my dobyns 734c or my glx 852c. Otherwise I’ll be buying a new rod too lol
  14. Why is it that on crankbait a and such with trebles you want a moderate to keep them pinned but the top water trebles you want extra fast?
  15. If you already have them fish them. When your completely ready to upgrade then the st. Croix mojo bass is an excellent stick for the money with great blanks. I have an avid x and it has the same blank. Loads of power, great sensitivity. I also have the Dobyns Sierra and for the money they are right now at tw it is a wicked rod! Superb balance, great sensitivity for the money as well! Like this rod a lot. Just personally haven’t had the best of luck with Fenwick rods so can’t pass on positive feedback
  16. Personally would be 30-50lbs braid and depending on clarity a fc leader
  17. Has anyone tried the Daiwa Steez XT 7’ medium fast action, stumbled across one on sale and don’t hear much about them? Just curious
  18. I fish an imx pro 884 twfr 7’4” heavy fast action for all my frogs and love the rod but don’t think I would want anything slower that’s for sure. If it’s a true moderate action then I would probably pass on it for frogs
  19. Oh 100%! I throw 1/8 and 3/16 oz jigs on this rod and love it! Unbelievably sensitive and light and surprising how much back bone this little rod has but when cover get thicker and I want to to throw smaller baits the kistler comes out, and if I’m tsrgeting cover with jigs my 894c is being used.
  20. I have both and love both. Two totally different rods. The partial e6x I have and another I fish regularly is the walleye series 6’6” medium fast action spinning and a 7’ 845c cbr crankbait rod. Both rods I really enjoy fishing and would make me wonder if the mag bass would make a great competition for the 734 as a universal rod. Both seem to have great sensitivity and balance. The 734c is a tough do it all rod. Been very pleased with it as well. So far I do lean towards the e6x for sensitivity by a little and the 734c for its universal applications.
  21. I actually own a couple rods I use for those techniques. I use a medium heavy fast action kistler helium (little on the lighter side of the medium heavy spectrum) and makes for an awesome worm rod, also throw a glx 852c which is a medium extra fast for wacky, shaky head, flukes and sometimes weightless Texas rig senko, then I have a glx 894c heavy fast action for jigs and a company we can’t mention in heavy extra fast I love for medium to heavy t-rigs
  22. I have had in the past year 5-6 different brands of rods and 3 different brands of reels but I’m slowly starting to find what I like more then others. Shimano reels are by far the best for me! But for rods I’m mainly a loomis guy, but there’s a few other Brands so far I’ve been pretty fond of!
  23. Thanks everyone! Some really great advice! I upgraded all of my baitcasters this year and wanted a nice spinning rod and reel! I am fishing a 2 piece avid x and love the rod but bought the 2 piece for getting into some of the ponds that are hard to get in and out of. I really wanted a nice 1 piece rod to leave on the boat as we have been using the boat a lot the last 2 seasons! I’m going out over the weekend to take a look at a few of these rods. Just wasn’t sure if I should be looking more into the medium, or medium light and if I should be looking more for a fast or extra fast? I’m leaning more towards another loomis but we will see, really do want to try the higher end st. Croixs to compare to my glx’s.
  24. Thank you! I totally forgot about kistler. I have a helium casting rod now and love it! Super light, sometimes feel a little underpowered but that thing has never let me down. Super sensitive I love it! But never tried or hear sbything about there spinning rods actually. your right I do prefer cork for sure. ill look more into the st. Croix as well as I’ve never fished there high end ones. Curious between the money of the legend elite or x, how does it stack up against say a glx? I know a lot is preference between the two brands and definately a loomis guy myself I’m just curious towards the higher end st. Croix. Have an avid x that I’m impressed with
