  1. I wasn’t trying to be rude I was simply asking a question. With 5 Shimano’s in my arsenal it’s always nice to know. I was told when I bought my first one 2 on, 2 off and adjust from there and I just got lucky right off the bat and that’s the reason for asking.
  2. I believe you are correct sir. But I’m not interested in purchasing from an American store for the point of warranty, if something happens during shipping, exchange rates, duty fees and purchasing online eliminates the chance for me to handle it first before making the purchase. And so for those reasons, dobyns is out. Thank you sir, that was very informative! I’m not out on glass rods just never owned one. The more I think about it the less a longer rod bothers me 7’6”+ to a degree (over 8’ would be too much). See since I’m brand new to the deep diving crank bait work I’d like a rod that will be the most universal for me to try until inevitably purchasing more to handle different depths. My squarebill/lipless rod will cover me to like maybe 8-10’ which is my imx pro 845c cbr. And I’d like to just try from that point down. I’ve heard so many good things about the zodias 7’6” glass being so universal (sure not ideal for the 10xd) but could handle it okay. The launcher looks to be more set up for the heavier deeper side of things though.
  3. Oh I totally agree with doing that, my problem isn’t the money being spent on the reel itself. It’s the fact for that money it doesn’t come with brass gears when the K, chronarch mgl, and Bantam do. Just seems so weird to me. I’d rather pay the extra 50+ dollars from factory if they had brass gears in them. Im going to be changing a few reels around this off season and kicking off a couple so one will be a met, most likely going on my nrx 853 to try, shifting the chronarch mgl too an expride, dropping a 13 fishing and replacing with a daiwa from a different rod, and last but not least another bantam for a deep water cranking set up. Perfect then go for it! I just know i had thrown my chronarch and bantam on the nrx and the chronarch felt a bit better on it to me and the bantam got moved over to an imx pro
  4. Congrats on your new reel! I got my bantam early this year and fell in love right away. I lost a little casting distance but not a ton. The reels ergonomics and buttery smooth retrieve out weighs it’s lost in casting distance and weight for me. It doesn’t cast as far compared to the chronarch mgl. I couldn’t tell you about the curado k as it would be unfair comparison since I didn’t have them on the same rod but I’d say there pretty close in casting distance. The K casted further for me but it’s on a longer rod so that’s why it’s unfair. Why add more brakes if he is casting fine with good distance and control? Adding more brakes and backing off .5 on the dial would most likely cause a loss in distance. I run my K, chronarch mgl’s, and my bantam all the same. 2 brakes off, 2 on the dial.
  5. Being a 7’ nrx like that i recommend maybe putting one on at a store before purchasing. I have the 853nrx and I put the bantam on it and it threw off the balance a bit with it being such a light rod, it felt great on my 894c, 884c imx pro but almost too heavy on my 853 and 852. The met or chronarch are super nice on them. I love the chronarchs cause of the brass gears. For being a small light reel, it is a work horse. On the 852 it works awesome throwing light tubes a mile, shakey heads, weightless Texas rigs, but also had one on a frogging rod for a year to test it out and it never skipped a beat! Horsed out plenty of 4-5 lbs bass in some super thick mats! I don’t own a met yet, want one to see the difference but have a hard time getting past the no brass gears
  6. One spot I can find if online but they only carry 1 champion, 1 seirra, 3 colts, and a few fury’s. Plus then I can’t get my hands on it first
  7. I purchased my one early this year and throw it on my frog rod! I love this reel! Will be purchasing another this off season for sure! One of my favourite reels. Super smooth, solid, refined reel!! I have 1 curado k, 1 bantam, 3 chronarch mgl’s and others from different company’s for some odd reason it took the longest to fine tune out of my shimano’s. No backlash issues or anything, just didn’t feel like I was getting the distance I should be. Boy can’t it horse them out but coming up a little short was getting to me. I got it figured out and it casts like a dream but I can cast on the same rod, same lure the further on the chronarch mgl! I can’t wait to get another to see if it’s the same thing or not.
  8. Where I’m located in Canada dobyns is one of the only rods I’m not considering. Out of the 7-10 stores I’ve been too/within driving distance only one I saw carried dobyns and after purchasing my first baitcaster (dobyns) few years back they dropped them and cannot find them anywhere. everyone I talk too say they can’t sell them here. I prefer to at least get my hands on one before making the purchase.
  9. I’ve fished lots of rods from different manufactures and the only one that is way off of what it’s labelled as compared to how it fishes is the dobyns (only 1 rod I’ve fished though) which is a 734. Rated as a heavy rod it is far from heavy. It does have good power but it is a medium heavy at best with a soft tip! Extremely versatile rod and would work well for your application.
  10. I’m going try and get in and handle a couple rods of longer lengths as I’ve never fished or bothered looking st rods over 7’6”. I’m really intrigued by the megabass launcher just so hesitant with the length. See if I can get my hands on the zodias glass as well.
  11. No sorry didn’t realize there was 2 launchers, I’m talking about the megabass orochi xx launcher
  12. Thank you, best I can do is get my hands on glass but unfortunately I don’t know any other avid fisherman. Im pretty much on my own for this so won’t be able to try glass. I opted against glass for my squarebill/lipless rod for that reason and absolutely love my imx pro 845c cbr. I’ve landed more Crankbait fish with this rod then any other rod I’ve fished them with, and is what changed my mind on Crankbait fishing. Now I want to try deep cranking whats the reason a lot of people don’t like glass other then weight? I know one guy that ive purchased my high end rods from before loves the megabass launcher for deep water cranks and had one for sale not too long ago, and he’s fished most every offering from loomis and shimano and prefers megabass for there cranking rods.
  13. Well I’ve never owned a rod over 7’6” and the launcher is 7’11”. Never even fished one and I know my rod locker is limited to space and the 7’6” rods are getting there so not sure how well if at all the launcher would fit, that’s the reason it’s at the bottom of the list
  14. Looking at getting into deep cranking. Now that’s hunting seasons around fishing is going be a little slow for me but looking at getting it soon to make sure I have it for next season. Reel will be curado k or bantam mgl depending on budget. Never fished deep cranks so looking to try almost everything and anything! Looking at imx pro 906c, zodias 7’6” mh glass, or even considering a launcher but due to length it’s bottom of the list! Any recommendations
  15. I agree with as long as money allows it always buy the best you can afford unless the specific technique your looking to do isn’t really offered in that line of rod example being deep cranking stick. Offered in the zodias but not expride! Not a bad way to start is obviously research. Dobyns and g.loomis both offer technique specific rods and they list what there use is for. So looking at there rods and finding a comparative in the expride would be one way. Asking here when looking for a specific rod works well as a whole the boys around here have fished every stick available
  16. I’d probably keep the 6’10 medium for top water, jerks, flukes and such, make for a good senko, shakey head rod. The 7’2” medium-heavy would be the route I’d go for versatility!!
  17. I own the e6x, 2 imx pros, 3 glx’s and 2 nrx’s. as for casting I don’t notice the glx reel seat nearly as much it in the spinning it is my least favourite reel seat of the bunch. Thank Christ the nrx’s doesn’t feel that way otherwise I’d be super upset! The imx pro’s I feel are a massive step above the e6x and well worth the coin!! The glx’s surely are impressive, and one of my favourite sticks on the market as far as power, sensitivity and balance goes. I’m not sure I’ll buy another spinning one though as the reel seat does bother me (not enough to sell it but to step up to the nrx). Like I mentioned the casting feel fine to me. The nrx aren’t a huge step up to the glx but is an improvement! The sensitivity is excellent but balance isn’t as good, and don’t like the recoil guides as much!
  18. Personally being light to moderate cover at best I would seriously go for the 893c but If it’s moderate to heavy cover then stepping up to the 894c is probably best. I fish an 853c in light cover, close quarters and I love sticking fish on that rod but wish I had the extra length. But my 894c really has what I need for pulling the big guys out an away from cover or out of heavy mats
  19. I currently fishing jigs and t-rigs on 7’1”, 7’5” and 7’6” rods. Depending on the exact application and environment, I like one more so over the other. My favourite would have to be towards the longer two rods. The 7’5” is probably my most used and I love it. The longer rod definitely gets better hook sets, better for fighting the fish and controlling them around lay downs and docks, better for getting them in the boat (boat flipping), longer casts if needed. The 7’1” is nice in tighter quarters, lighter jigs, a good follow up rod!
  20. What style of walleye fishing and lures do you boys throw? I almost never vertical jig for walleye, almost always trolling light line, smaller lures. That why I have a hard time picking a rod. Want to try more vertical fishing walleye
  21. Every year I go on an annual moose hunting and walleye fishing trip. I’ve been using a 6’6” e6x medium fast action rod and want to try something different! Preferably 2 piece due to the 14 hour drive with 6-10 guys gear for 10 days worth. Any suggestions. We mainly troll with jerks, twister tails on round jigs, small paddle tails with swim bait heads, and meps. Very seldomly vertical jig
  22. Everyone has there own opinion which is why it makes it so far choosing a rod lol. He’s my experience. Buy once and buy right. If you were debating on “biting the bullet” and stepping up in the budget then do it cause I promise you’ll regret it if you don’t. As far as budget, the fury is fantastic and so is the mojo from what I hear. I’ve only fished the mojo once and was pretty impressed with it compared too my avid x. I haven’t fished the imx but own a few imx pro’s and love these rods. They are light, sensitive and fish very good! To be honest for that price though I’d actually lean towards an expride. I love the 845c cbr but other then that I prefer the expride to the imx pro by a little and it’s a smidge cheaper! The 7’ medium expride or even the 6’10” medium light expride would make a nice universal spinning set up
  23. I haven’t fished Lake Ontario/st. Lawrence but do fish a lot of clear lakes in Ontario. My set up is a glx 822 dsr, Shimano ci4, 15lbs dark green pp with an 8lbs leader normally and have had great luck so far! Have tried 6lbs too and was doing well until any kind of cover was near and snapped off too many times.
  24. I have a 7’ light plus rod and have hooked into some big bass. Sure no boat flips are possible but have dragged it around from boat to boat, from pond to pond, and have been a little rough on it and it keeps holding on to those 3-5lbs bass without issue! Love the exprides
  25. I have a 7’ lite plus spinning rod with a fk on it, had a 7’2” heavy which I sold to a buddy. Have fished the 7’2” medium heavy (next purchase) and looking at a 7’6” heavy as well.
