  1. Weeds....any kind, but lilly pads are my favorite. Horny toads and floating worms over the thick stuff. Spinnerbaits or texas rigged worms through the thin stuff. Occasionally flipping holes with jigs or pegged tubes. Fun stuff. -J
  2. Looks like that big girl would be hell on some trout!!! -J

    Awesome! 8-)
  4. Just thought I'd add a clarification to my previous reply... I've attached a picture of what I used to mount my handheld GPS. For the fishfinders, they have some with swing arms as well. For the mount that I have, you can easily remove the unit by loosening the adjusting screw. Here's a link to the marine catalog: http://www.ram-mount.com/pdf/marine_catalog.pdf -J
  5. I just picked up some RAM mounts for a handheld GPS unit. I highly recommend them and they are modular, so you can mix and match parts (as long as the ball size is the same). gpscity.com has the best website that I could find and they make it pretty easy to figure out what you need. If you need help, message me. They also have a quick release mount that would let you remove the unit, but I don't know if I'd want that for the bow, since it's likely to get pounded pretty bad up there. --J
  6. Biggest ever was 8 3/4 lbs on an electric blue tube lure. No pics, b/c my dad put the camera down on our way out of the house. Grrr. Biggest last year was 7 1/2 lbs on a chartreuse pepper tiki stick. I had the camera with me that time, but I was fishing solo. I was fishing out of my old jon boat and had to run up on some fellahs that were fishing out of a big bass rig to ask them to take a few photos for me. I got the evil eye for a moment, until they realized what I was up to. They were gracious enough to snap a few pics and I passed along my fishing pattern for the day. -J
  7. I've been trying to build up my confidence in the jig again. I had a string of nice fish come unbuttoned in '06 and I was beginning to lose my nerve. I believe that I was setting the hook too hard (using braid) and ripping it out of the fish, unless the hook found itself perfectly positioned in the jaw. My reasoning was based on the fact that I had zero problems with fish throwing the jig while fishing from the shore using mono. At first, I tried to cut back on my "normal" hookset, but the best solution has been to turn down the drag a bit. I get a bit of a drag slip on the initial hookset now and I haven't had one come unbottoned in a while. -J
  8. Great catch! How are those frogs compared to the Zoom Horny Toad? -J
  9. Fished Lake Murray, SC and it was very windy. Had 2 bites and caught 2 fish. 5lb2oz Striper This is my first attempt to post pics, so my apologies if it goes badly. The largemouth was 5lb2oz and caught on a jig-and-pig. Striper was caught on the same lure...33in x 18in...no weight on that one, because my scale quits at 10lb. There was a tournament on the lake and those guys did very well. I still can't put numbers in the boat, but who's complaining. -J
  10. Matt, next thing you'll be telling us is that you're strung out on flying lures! I picked up 2 sets of flying lures at Hudson's (close out store) for next to nothing. I have managed to catch a few fish, but I always had better luck with a straight up tube lure. -J
  11. New here, but I'm game if this goes down. -J
  12. Those things are bound to be rotten. I'll take them off your hands and make sure they get disposed of properly. Just kidding, I've had some plastic worms around for over 20 years that are still just fine. Just don't make the mistake of mixing those 3X Strike King plastics with "normal" plastic worms. I find myself buying clearance items and storing them for a while until I end up doling them out to the newbie fisherman or kid. Plus, my own kids like to play in the stock occasionally. -J
  13. I'm shooting for something over 9lbs. I caught several 6 lb-ers last year and a 7.5 lb-er. I'm eager for Spring, because I'm getting my butt kicked this winter! -J
  14. I use the 15+'s quite a bit. I've had to order them straight from Mann's to get the old school colors. They have fancified the colors that are available, but I still like the old classics (e.g. fire tiger...just yellow with some black tiger stripes). I have had decent success using the 20+ and 30+ baits when trolling in the winter. I have caught two 7+ lb bass on the 30+ shad...hmmm...tennesse shad maybe. It looks kinda like it made a trip to the french quarter for Mardi Gras. I rarely cast the 20+ and 30+, because they are a pain to reel in. Later, J
