  1. I think that's a good choice, especially if you're going to use it for deep C-rigging. Kittery Trading Post has it in stock, and you can get 20% off subscribing your email to their newsletter and your first order.
  2. I have the Zillion G2 version of it and I use it for chatterbaits and it can handle jigs in your range easily. Walmart online I think he means. Similar to Amazon, third parties can sell on Walmart and sometimes they heavily discount their stuff to move the inventory.
  3. Yes, the Tatula Bass is the full cork new model. I understand the trepidation of ordering from Amazon, and I consider myself lucky to have ordered several rods and not have them broken. But Amazon's return process is about as simple as possible, so I never hesitate and sometimes their pricing algorithm discounts are just too hard to pass up.
  4. I like shorter handles for walking baits and poppers. Lew's has the Custom Plus Speed Stick's with shorter grips around 10". 6'7 M/ModFast and a 6'8 ML/F. I have the 6'8 and it's a great topwater rod for 1/8-1/2oz lures. It's true to the lower end of the rating too. It sorta has a MBR rod taper and I've hauled 8lb snakeheads out of thick hydrilla on 12lb mono with it.
  5. I've never owned a Tatula XT, but I've read they feel dead in the hands. The Tatula has two versions, OG Black and Gold, and the new cork full grip. I've own/ed two of the OG versions (6'10 MH/F, and 7' MLRB) and they're really light, at about 4oz. But they're definitely not as sensitive as some other rods in the $150 range that I've fished. They are also sold for about $100-$120 at Amazon, Sportsman Outfitters, various other reputable stores. I've never fished the new full cork versions, but I suspect the blanks are similar in sensitivity, and they use Fazlite guides instead of alconite. Also consider the Tatula Elite rods, MSRP for $179 but can be found for $130ish on Amazon as well. I have two of the AGS versions that have the nanoplus SVF material and I like them a lot, right up there with a GLX and Orochi XX.
  6. I think your next best bet is to call Garmin for support. They're very helpful and can help you determine if you have a defective unit.
  7. Did you enable data sharing in the software settings? https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=ZZ5c7kg45I3hDoL4fhXFd9 To enable User Data Sharing: Start on the Home screen Select User Data Select Manage Data Select User Data Sharing and switch to On
  8. Drop shots and Tokyo rigs.
  9. Some days, I wish I were. Wife is the one holding me back from getting a bigger boat for me and my 2 boys.
  10. Here's a snap of my "fishing corner" in the study. Here's a snap of my spreadsheet of rods/reels and lines.
  11. Trump National clearing out all the trees on the VA side probably didn't help much either.
  12. What do you intend to throw? For $50 the Daiwa Aird-X rods are very good. For $100 there are lots of good options.
  13. I used to go clamming up there on the main river when I was a kid and always walked the towpath past those juicy canal holes.
  14. There is a SV103/105 that are non TW, discontinued in 2017 I believe, different than the Tatula SV TW 103. I was incorrect, the Tatulas have brass gears (main and pinion). I opened up a Tatula CT Type-R and confirmed.
  15. Good point, I didn't like the SV103 on it, but enjoy a Zillion SV TW on it.
  16. Wacky rig senko at targets, bites usually come on the initial fall. I can cover a fair amount of water this way too.
  17. Some people don’t like it, but I have no problem with it and hold it a couple different ways depending on the lure.
  18. Still got the rod socks? Got a Hoyo #2 Cuban with your name on it next time we meet up.
  19. GLX 844 or 843 MBR are very versatile tapers. Enough give for a moving bait, but when you lean into it, plenty of tip for a jig. Similarly, I have a Zillion 7’2 MH/R with those characteristics.
  20. The Tatula SV TWS is a great versatile reel, but has aluminum gears. If you're constantly hauling fish in heavy cover, the gears can get worn and get geary. Happened to me on a Tatula CT Type-R within a year on my frogging rod and I sent it in for replacement. I switched up to a Zillion TWS, and a SV103 for heavy duty cover (brass gears). An SV reel is nice for the technique though because if you set it up right, you can pitch the lure where it will hit the water and keep sinking down without an overrun, or needing to set tension really high and then having to strip out line as a lure hits the water. The new Alphas SV CT has brass gears (I think) and is readily available off Ebay.
  21. Lol...I should have clarified, I sometimes change them out if they're cheap and easily bent.
  22. My wife took the kids on a playdate, so that gave me a few hours to take a hike and fish Widewater. I headed out at 4PM when there was a light drizzle, but the forecast was to clear up. Got there, and all the duckweed was cleared out so all the banks were open with no debris. There was a slight breeze and some light rain so I went with a small spinnerbait at first. Casted parallel, and 40 degrees to the bank and got nothing. Then I got to the trail wall, and got smacked once. Then I came to the section of the walls where it casting was difficult because of trees so I put the jig and craw on and got nothing. I couldn't figure them out and I walked toward the lock. I saw sporadic duckweed, and flowing water from all the rain. It's shallower here so I look in my backpack and it was either a senko or a spare fluke that I sometime use as a trailer. Gut told me to go with the fluke, and it paid off. I got a good 2lber on maybe the third cast, then the next cast a good one that was over 3lbs. Both fish were still very warm and fought really hard. After the 2nd fish, the fluke was mangled and not salvageable. It was a good ways back to the parking lot, so I was satisfied and headed home just before sunset and rewarded myself with a barbacoa burrito from Chipotle. Also saw about 20 of these birds roosting on one of the rock islands, and in the trees. I think they were black vultures, but I'm not 100% sure. They were large, and had white wing tips on the underside, and white dots on the top.
  23. Howdy, are you in DC proper? I'm in MoCo and there are several people on the forums that fish the DC metro area.
